I find it funny that last year nearly everyone was saying why is he in the side towards the end. Now after one game he plays well after coming on and the coach has ****ed it up ?
I’m not convinced too tall was the issue myself. When they broke the game early it was more not playing 6 forwards and not allowing them to burn it out of the back half. The game was lost within 15 minutes of rebounding footy. Yes their small forwards were good but the rebound set it up in my view.I think it was more that the coach ****ed up the sub and went in far too tall. Gresham coming on balanced us out alittle.
To be fair, we said Gresham was a poor sub choice before the game. You cannot go in with one small forward in the modern game, especially against Hawthorn who have good ball movers from defence. It was a poor decision by Scott and it showed in the second half.I find it funny that last year nearly everyone was saying why is he in the side towards the end. Most of the first quarter we still had mobile players there. Not like we have a bunch of talls. The mistake was not the sub. The mistake was going with a 5 man forward line and running the extra up to the contest which they changed at 1/4 time. It was a tactical error by the coaching group. Gresham or Hobbs my view is it would not have mattered. The damage was done in that 15 minute period of the first quarter when we allowed the the extra player in the back half rather than matching up 6 on 6.
