Can someone verify this? This would be the best thing that has happened to the station in nearly 10 years. It's going to go gangbusters! Hutchy knows it too. Needs a big ratings score and knows this is how to Start.

Edit: in my excitement I failed to see the herald sun link

Everyone at SEN Cricket saying that Steve O'Keefe is a top bloke.

Must be a different Steve O'Keefe to the one that I've been reading about over the past ten years. Maybe this 'alternate' Steve O'Keefe could actually turn a ball too?
No angel but has some charisma. Give me that over vanilla types like Mike Hussey any day of the week.

Well it’s a start

Finey should start his first show by saying “I only went out the front of the studio for a smoke and the door locked behind me , anything happen while was locked outside ?”

It's like some are barracking for SEN’s demise because they don't like Hutchy or some of the presenters.

What happens if SEN goes bust? Great, no sport on the radio anymore. The miserable losers win.
This reminded me of the last sounding board ep I ever listened to.
Hutchy defending gambling advertising saying the AFL couldn’t survive without it, “Do you want that?”
Someone will buy it for peanuts and it will continue, hopefully with staff with lower pay but the prioritise passion/knowledge of sport as opposed to their ego.

David Warner is a far better bloke in person

“I don’t like Mark McGowan … I don’t want to go there,” the 36-year-old said, as reported by News Corp.

“I hate playing at Optus (Stadium), we never do well, so I’m thinking maybe we just give Perth the two points and just stay at home and enjoy the weekend at home. I hate that plane flight.

“We’ll leave that up to the Big Bash people, but how about if Perth wants to come they can come to Sydney? We’ll happily have anyone from Perth, I’m not sure Mark McGowan thinks the same.

“Personally, I’m happy to give the points to Perth, they can have it. I don’t want to go there.

“He (McGowan) doesn’t want us there.”

It’s back! Footy fans can rejoice with Finey's Final Siren set to return to SEN 1116am in 2024. The show, hosted by Mark Fine, is set to air on Friday nights during the AFL Season, promising footy enthusiasts a blend of insights, entertainment, and talkback.

Listeners can hear Finey's Final Siren on SEN 1116am, from 11pm to 1am every Friday night across the AFL Season, immersing themselves in post-game analysis and lively discussions.

Finey's return follows the overwhelming support received after his memorable appearance on SEN 1116am's 20th birthday celebration with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson.

The revived show will feature Finey's signature perspective on Friday night footy games and famous talkback callers, aiming to reignite the spark that made Finey's Final Siren a beloved program. By capturing fans' immediate post-game reactions and creating a unique live dialogue, the show became must-listen radio.

SEN Director of Sport Julian Bayard said: "We can't wait to have Finey's Final Siren back on SEN 1116am airwaves. Finey's unmatched passion for footy and his entertaining flair will make Friday nights even more special for our listeners.

"The real-time fan dialogue - sharing in joy and frustration - made his show a cultural mainstay. Now, a new generation of footy fans can join those memorable call-ins each weekend to partake in the beloved Finey’s Final Siren ritual."

Mark Fine said: '"I'm thrilled to be back on SEN 1116am doing the program I loved most, Finey's Final Siren. There's nothing like talkback with passionate footy fans straight after the game, so as strange as it sounds, bring on Round 0, call in and let's all have a crack!"

"Hey Viney. Mate. I'm just sitting in the MCG carpark trying to get out and there's some loser with a Taylor Swift bumper sticker. Anyway, mate, what did you think about the umpiring tonight? I never bag the umpires, and like I never think they cost my team the game, but tonight, mate, they were shocking weren't they? I mean, that holding the ball in the second quarter? Why don't they pay that anymore?"

"He got a handball away."

"Did he? Well. I still think it was holding the ball. Because it was holding the ball. Look. He had forever to dispose of the ball. The umpires were shocking. I mean, maybe we would have still lost, but they kill the momentum. And it's always against <insert caller's team>."

Welcome back, Viney.
