I don't disagree with you there.

Thing is, Australia is a sports-mad country with Melbourne being the sporting capital.

There is a huge opportunity for SEN to double-down on that fact by offering a far more superior product than what they put out now that would appeal to a much wider audience.

Talking about sport is the base operandi of the station but that shouldn't mean they just coast by with poorly thought out programs with 'jobs for the boys' presenters.

To give you a guide as to where my head is at, my wife enjoys watching the footy, cricket, tennis & the Olympics but she would never ever think about listening to SEN because it is far too blokey, full of in-jokes & lacks the light-hearted humour & quality entertainment content to draw her in.

I'm near certain there is a myriad of other people (both male & female) who would listen to SEN if it was way more interesting and not just focussed on the AFL.

All it would take to get to that stage is some imagination, creativity & a liberal does of commonsense.

They could triple their ratings very quickly wth some smart & strategic tweaks.

All good points, but I can't see them ever reaching double-figure ratings in such a competitive market

The last ratings were comparatively decent, because they usually take a big dive when the footy finishes.

Most of the slots were +1 percentage point compared with the same survey in 2023. Granted, that was a pretty low base.

There is a system they use to create the ratings, I've never had to do it either but it does exist.

I got asked to do the GFK radio ratings survey three times this year!

But based on my geographical location, there was no option/place for me to mark down SEN 1116 (or even SEN WA) as a station I was listening to. It was virtually all local radio stations, a bunch of DAB stations, and a box for "Other AM radio".

I listen to SEN breakfast for about 30 minutes a morning since Mooney's come back and I reckon I've heard that fact at least once a show.

JJ is shocking and as bad as Phitzner , Cooney has improved a bit

Agree with you here, I have been saying this for a while now too, make it a true "sports breakfast" show but with a lot more lighter stuff that make people laugh, some fun competitions & kooky segments etc.

Also agree with you about a 3-person hosting team (another thing I have been saying for a while), especially one being a female to help get over the "blokey" aspect there is already.

cox is not up to doing his own regular show. i have liked the worked of adam white. would like to hear him on a regular basis. and get rid of 'off the bench'. it's repetitious and boring.

I think people these days more so than ever are rusted on and change scares them. Many of them cannot handle sports other than what they are used to.
If a female joins as an official host watch heads explode.
