Screw you Horse. If Gus comes off the bench and heads into the forward pocket, I’ll be very disappointed.
C’mon Horse - play him where he belongs. At the coalface.
I don't think Sheldrick looked ready. I wanted him in the mids but watching him he seemed a bit overwhelmed, went to ground really easily and didn't have much physicality when he had to go for it. Probably would've been murdered if he was in the mids more. Good learning curve for the kid and tbh probably glad he was off the ground for that diabolical last quarter, as I reckon it was an exhibition of our worst habits as a team, so don't want him picking them up.

Ignoring the second line of diatribe, clearly Horse & co knew what Sheldrick was capable of, because the tough, hard bull we were all expecting to see based on VFL form was still bouncing off GWS players like a ping pong ball. Not his fault at all, he's 20 years old, but I wouldn't want a player like that in the midfield atm.I am sorry that is rubbish.
Could easily have replaced ineffective Rowbottom.
Yeh, but if he's not ready probably best not to play him imo.Ignoring the second line of diatribe, clearly Horse & co knew what Sheldrick was capable of, because the tough, hard bull we were all expecting to see based on VFL form was still bouncing off GWS players like a ping pong ball. He’s actually still only 19.Ignoring the second line of diatribe, clearly Horse & co knew what Sheldrick was capable of, because the tough, hard bull we were all expecting to see based on VFL form was still bouncing off GWS players like a ping pong ball. We want him to be as ready as Rowell. He isn't and that's ok cause he will get thereDespite only getting 3 possessions. He had 16 pressures acts and they all seemed to come around the contest. There is a player in there
Unfortunately after 3 possessions and being subbed out - he probably won’t get a run of games.I still think it is a good experience. He was not going to come in 2nd game and start dominating the midfield.
I think if they give him a run of games, like Roberts he will get used to the different pace and structure.

And will be left wondering if he needs to learn to be a forward pocket in the VFL, in case he gets plonked there again.
He wasn’t going to dominate the midfield, but should at least have been given some exposure to it.
Will captain WCE and smite us regularly
Kid has played 3 matches and you’ve not only had him traded but also projected him as WCE captain
I don’t see any reason why he won’t play again next week and will get opportunities in the middle once he demonstrates he has adjusted to the speed at AFL level.
In fact I am not really sure who he could go out for anyway, we don’t have a lot of options.
Let’s see if he makes it as an AFL player before we predict he will be captain without knowing much about his leadership qualities. That script is grubby, dog eared and well used. You know why because it has worked umpteen times.
We will get nothing as he will walk in the PSD.
Not particularly interested in this kind of judging my view as if yours is somehow superior.I am sorry Masey but the adjust to speed argument is hackneyed and you're better than that..
See i much rather try to look at as we got smashed in the midfield last week, so brought in a midfielder, only to play him in the forward pocket, while a forward pocket sat on the bench as a sub. Might just be me, but I see some glaring issues with that.I don't see a problem in playing him as a forward. Countless players have to start as an understudy to learn the ropes before they lead.
Y'all are acting like he's Gary Ablett Jnr - who also started as a small forward!
Sheather at 185cm is more a medium forward than a small forward or forward pocket. Also played the previous week in the VFL in defence… at this stage he hasn’t established himself in any position and likely got a gig because how slim the pickings are currently…See i much rather try to look at as we got smashed in the midfield last week, so brought in a midfielder, only to play him in the forward pocket, while a forward pocket sat on the bench as a sub.
