OK, I've removed about three pages of posts.

Please do not use this thread to speculate about Oliver's private life – medical or otherwise.

Regardless of the veracity of your rumour, or what you know/have heard, if it's not public knowledge, just don't post it.

I don't want to turn this place into Demonland, but if you can't see the potential harm that this sort of rumour-spreading can cause (regardless of your intentions), then perhaps it's best if you take a bit of a break.

Thanks.

Let’s face it the media, particularly The HUN were laying the boots into Melbourne anyway. So any indiscretion by a player was reported big time. The longer JUH doesn’t return to training the more the story will be reported I guess.
Also with JUH there’s been murmurs for a while he loves the party lifestyle off field. I read somewhere on here that Melbourne weren’t happy Clarry kicked on with JUH after the Brownlow.

You can guarantee the story will blow up further if the dogs have a poor year.

Imagine if came out of contract and we actually paid him like some of the guys wanted to on this board last offseason (D16 and Mich). Holy shit. :tearsofjoy: Scythe94 would be asking Chief for a pay raise after going thru it two offseasons in a row.

So funny people wanted to piss away our next 2 drafts for a bloke who's not even a key forward. Good player, he's more Fritsch than Curnow

Clarry mate it pretty easy for the media to keep digging. Being sent home from the preseason camp, the hospital visit etc. that's the main difference from a media POV - if there's obvious smoke, you chase it.

You haven't seen or heard some of the s* this bloke has been up to? Cmon. JUH is a menace off the field and has been for awhile, but hey, Clarry is the easier target i guess. It was a witch hunt last offseason. Like DeGoey the season before. The media are pathetic.

Media were all over Clarry for a while there but then clearly they got word that it was pretty serious (even K Cornes tip-toed around the issue which is very rare) and they really backed off to the point where his form - or the match committee's decision to play him - probably deserved more of a blowtorch.

EDIT: Clarry obviously received more attention as he was arguably a top 5 player in the game at his peak. JUH obviously nowhere near that. Maybe there's some very slight concession in journo's hearts for a young indigenous guy but it'd be a very small part of the story at best.

Dees didn't use the mental health tag soon enough. Dogs have gone with it early which has probably kept the media at bay. Clearly mental health issues is code for drug f*d.

What’s the go with him? Just not at training? Nose beers?
Don't know why he's missing from training and the rest of it, but I've seen him twice on the summer break now out and about and he was downing enough piss to fill the Murray Darling Basin. Blokes cooked.

Can't imagine Bevo would be too happy with him is my guess, Harmsey filled in for my cricket team last year and said he couldn't be in any pictures after making the move to the Dogs or Bevo would rip him a new one even if he was just bowling right arm pies off a few steps.

In other news, is this actually recent? I thought Clarry was still a fat lard last time I checked this thread but feeling the need to get him in my supercoach team if he's back in shape.

How dare you post anything positive about Clayton Oliver on here! lol

Besides a few on here, most of us are in his corner and can see the effort he's putting in. Giving himself every opportunity to get back to his best. We will see, but surely at the price he's at, yeah, he'd be in most teams in fantasy leagues I'd assume. Whether he can turn it around onfield remains to be seen, but it's great to see him back in a good space. Hopefully that translates to gameday.

The second last line is the most important bit. He looks happy, much healthier and hopefully it translates on the field.

Sam Edmund and Kornes even intimated on SEN bevo would be pretty angry right now. Journos are doing a lot of talking without outright saying anything on this one, it's clearly Oliver v2.

Yeah and no one in the media specifically said Oliver was on drugs. Just 'off-field issues'

Besides we were the ones who had the bright idea to air it all out publicly so don't really get the complaints.

100% and if JUH is going through the same s*, then i hope he finds his happy space as well. Sounds like he's dealing with very similar demons. Heaps of cash and playing a premier sport can lead young blokes down a dark road. Like Oliver, he might need a season to get his s* together.

Fact is the same nuffs who think a fit and firing Oliver could get us into finals this year won't acknowledge that one of the main reasons haven't won a final in 3 years is because Oliver pissed away the last 2 years getting large and partying.

Happily demand goody get sacked who's at least tried for the last 2 years but don't you dare say anything negative about clarry
