This one’s going to hurt, I can just feel it…
This.It will hurt if he turns into a good player but I won't be too cut up about it.
Why? Because I think he's quite possibly the sort of player/person that needed something like this to happen for the penny to drop.
Had we kept him, it may not have.
Being uncontracted, I'm not sure what else the club could have done. How dumb can we be as club to delist someone with some value. No words but I guess we do love to overpay and then lose on the other side. Just can’t fathom this one.
Not sure there is much value, clubs may only be interested if he is a free hit. Hope he proves us wrong at any other club but Essendon. How dumb can we be as club to delist someone with some value. No words but I guess we do love to overpay and then lose on the other side. Just can’t fathom this one.
Surely you guys could have gotten something for him though. North last year gave Richmond a future 2nd (now pick 19) for an out of contract Callum Coleman-Jones when they could have just walked him to the PSD. Stocker had to be worth a late 2nd/early 3rd surely.Being uncontracted, I'm not sure what else the club could have done.
lets not start this victimhood bs . He wasnt paid peanuts and its a cutthroat game. There will always be differing opinions about any particular footballer's skills, attributes and what they bring to the side they play for but ask yourself this simple question, if your son/daughter, nephew/niece was discarded by any company in this manner after seeking help mental health issues, would you agree to such treatment?
Agreed. I love that Stocker was hard at it but people are massively overating it as the be and end all. If being an AFL player was just about being hard at it we would dump half our team and replace them with guys from the suburban league.
That's the thing though.. by all accounts, we should have. But we didn't.. and I cannot believe that a professional list management team, any professional management team would just "forget to ask'..Surely you guys could have gotten something for him though. Damien Barrets sliding doors today says “Stocker rubbed more than a few blues the wrong way”.
That's not an accurate depiction of our backline and you need to excel in one of these traits if they are mutually exclusive to your game.We are still missing that aggressive defensive trait in our back 6/7. That player that wants the ball first and foremost over a handball receive. We need a sacrificial defensive player with hardness.
Barrett wouldn't hesitate to write an article on it if he actually knew the details, so I'm inclined to believe he doesn't know more than you or I.
Do clubs ever give commentary on delistings? The less the club says about the reasons Stocker got delisted, the better his chances of finding another club.
Sucks for us members who want answers. But in all honesty, the club is doing him a favour by leaving it as a football matter.
Good luck Stock! You’ve got the ability, you’ve got a good heart. I hope you find your way back into the game!
Mark Ricciuto...Do clubs ever give commentary on delistings?

Among our defenders Stocker ranked 10th or lower in every defensive stat apart from tackles (8th), and that includes contested possessions.
He was a long way off the pace for where we're at with our list but hopefully gets an opportunity to further develop with another team.
