If found guilty he could face 12 years behind bars - in an adult prison. Not too sure on the details but apparently a group of Bali men offered him the drugs for some cash after they told him they don't have any money to feed themselves. The boy felt sympathy and bought the marijuana.
Can't even begin to image what his family is going through. Will be tragic if the kid does get convicted.

Poor bugger, 14 yo Australians don't smoke pot.

It's always all someone elses fault.

The bali nine, it was all the federal coppers fault.

If he felt sympathy he could've just given them some money without taking the drugs....

I mean....really. Come on.

He was 14, not 6. I pity the kid and especially his family, but there's no need to bullshit us. He was stupid, he thought it was cool and didn't know the consequences.

The men that sold the kids the drugs are probably in with some corrupt cops that are working tourists for bribe money.

Meh, just saying what i heard from a friend. The story is no doubt flimsy, but have you been to Bali in the past 2 years? Men there are feral and would do anything for money.

After examine all the fact, I am sure the Insonesian authorities will make the correct decision. Congratulations to the Indonesian for having such a tough stance on drugs, time for Australia to take a leaf out of their book.

The Indonesian are not monsters, they will deliver the proper punishment if he is found guilty. Do the crime, do the time. A prison sentence would suffice.

The Indonesians may not agree with you. They may want to make an example of the boy, and according to your POV, quite rightly. To institutionally murder him would surely satisfy your agenda best.

So, which would you prefer, firing squad or hanging? Given your proclivities, you must have an opinion either way.

In support of your stance, I'm prepared to mount a campaign to have him put down. It's the only way he'll learn. Drugs are evil, and so are fourteen year-olds. Nil tolerance is the only way. If we start making exceptions, the whole drug thing could get completely out of control.

You raise an interesting question. Personally if I had to choose I would go for hanging but a firing squad would prove the point more. A interesting problem is raised, if the boy is found guilty and the courts pass death as a suitable punishment.

No problem for you surely, given your belief in the efficacy of a judicial system run by serial killers. Leave it in their hands. Whatever happens, I'm sure you'll be there to applaud their deeds, no matter what method they use to dispense with this troublesome tyke.

Are there ethical considerations regarding the use of dynamite?

You are a troll.

Of this I am persuaded.

You support hanging a 14 year old boy for possession of a quarter ounce of choof valued at 25 dollars?

Thats akin to condoning capital punishment for speeding.

Since when was a quarter $25 ?

You would have to ask why the kid was buying this sort of weight for. On paper, it sounds like nothing but the reality is a 1/4 is about 80-100 cones worth or 20-25 joints.
He's either got a nasty little habit for a 14 year old or he was going to offload some of it to his mates.

BTW, pretty sure Saints Supporter was being sarcastic.

Maybe he was gonna roll a few spliffs with the family. Shit man, 7 grams isnt really a 'trafficable' amount.

BTW, pretty sure Saints Supporter was being sarcastic.

No, just trolling. I hope anyway.

Seriously man, he's been up to it in a number of threads.

He's argued for sinking asylum seeker boats, and executing children before.

I took him seriously the first few times, and even took time to explain myself, but now just Im trying to ignore him.

I dont think there is much doubt at all that this stupid child knew exactly what he was buying and what he intended to do with it. His problem was that he was stupid enough to get caught.
Be interesting to hear the whole story.

Dude, its just a small amount of weed, and the kid is 14.

How consiuous of the repurcussions would he have been?

Think back to when you were 14, and getting up to just as bad (if not worse).

He'd be shitting himself right now.

Its not a 'small' amount. A small amount is a gram or less.

7 grams is a significant amount for a child of 14 and given he was on holiday, very unlikely that he would be consuming for his own personal use.

I agree that at the age of 14, the repercussions would have mattered little to him and I hope he doesn't get in too much trouble for it.

I agree he is probably shitting himself and justifiably so.

How conscious of the repercussions would he have been? I dont know and neither do you but I suspect very little.

When I was 14 I knew the difference between right and wrong as I am sure you did and even then I knew how to behave myself particularly when I was in another country as I am sure you were.

Let's wait until the full story comes out perhaps then we'll all have a better idea of why he chose to be stupid.
Referring to others as DUDE doesn't really fit in with your persona.

No doubting he knew it was wrong, but im pretty confident he wasnt congniscant of the scope of the offence there.

He's 14. Show me a non stupid 14 year old boy.

Hah, youd be surprised.

With all the history with Australians and drugs in Indonesia you would think that this kid would have a ****ing clue. 14 is not as young as we make it out to be sometimes.

If you want to be 'cool' or 'hard' and have a few grams of weed on you then you don't do it in a country where their stance on drugs and drug trafficking is notoriously harsh compared to ours.

When are the bleeding hearts going to get over themselves?

What does him being a 14 year old Australian have ANYTHING to do with breaking a law in a foreign country? If an Indonesian man commits a crime here, then he gets sentenced according to our laws, and the opposite applies.

Not for one second does anyone with a brain believe he didn't know what he was doing, he was buying drugs and he knew it. If he felt sorry for the dealer then he could have given him money and not taken the drugs.

Just because you are 14, doesn't make you exempt from the law, as this kid is about to find out.

I honestly wish sometimes that the law in Australia would man the **** up and stop catering to the criminals with the soft slap-on-the-wrist punishments.

The only problem I have with this is that he would be serving time in an adult prison, that I think is extremely dangerous, but we have no right to tell other countries how to run their legal system.

You do the crime, you do the time.

PS: for everyone saying 'think of what you did as a 14 year old', get over yourselves. I'm sure as a 14 year old you didn't buy drugs in a country that is known to have extremely strict laws against drugs, and if you did then you're an idiot who got lucky.
