You raised Greene MM. It's all crap as bad eggs are everywhere and if you have good eggs they can help bad eggs and visa versa. There's no truth or evidence of your assumptions being true or valid. It's all speculation and guess work.Don’t think the Dusty narrative quite fits in this case because Hogan at the time was already an established player in the league and his issues were well documented
In Sydney it’s a lot easier to have a normal life for an afl player and walk the streets, go to the pub ect
Melbourne and WA are different because AFL is the dominant sport so a lot more people are able to recognise them just look at the Ginivan storm in a teacup over the last two days
Think you have missed my point I was referring to the media and being recognised in Melbourne is at a higher level so it makes it more difficult for players who might be having challenges to slip under the radar and get the help they need without that extreme level of public scrutinyYou raised Greene MM. I reckon Franklin was more popular in Sydney in the end and got just as much if not more attention.
Stack was a nut case no matter where he was. It's about maturity and maturing as a person. Some do this later and some never grow up . Nothing about locations in Australia, but more the professional and family environment or culture the club has to develop a human being 's maturity and qualities.
No i'm sorry there's 800 players roughly in the AFL and there's only a few squeaks a year that you hear and most are media hype to sell papers or reporter trying to big note themselves. It's all miniscule and clubs are more professional in educating players on handling all types of circumstances. It even happens at the Coates Talent League level where players attend in-services on all this stuff from handling yourself in the public to media to social media and to even pornography and gambling. IT'S designed to educate the majority and the odd clown slips through or just some players aren't mature enough to cope at the time.Think you have missed my point I was referring to the media and being recognised in Melbourne is at a higher level so it makes it more difficult for players who might be having challenges to slip under the radar and get the help they need without that extreme level of public scrutiny
Players who play for Melbourne clubs and WA clubs have their issues scrutinised and followed a lot more compared to other states
If you look at it this way if I was walking down the street in Melbourne I could probably recognise maybe one 1 Melbourne storm player if I was lucky and absolutely zero from any interstate because the Melbourne based media that I am exposed to don’t make NRL related story’s as leading story’s on the news, back page newspapers or Melbourne based social media
Article is older but the point is still correctNo i'm sorry there's 800 players roughly in the AFL and there's only a few squeaks a year that you hear and most are media hype to sell papers or reporter trying to big note themselves. There are hundreds of players playing in their non birth states and again only a miniscule amount of noise is heard annually. Players have clauses in their contracts and they have a shit load to lose and managers with the club professionals work on all issues. This is why it's not the 70's anymore where there was a lot of issues with players as you were saying, but we've evolved in this area now as there's high stakes at risk.
As dominant side in the league, you have the luxury of taking the risk.Article is older but the point is still correct
It’s also very common for players to talk about the increased scrutiny playing for a Melbourne club v interstate once they have hung up the boots
Inside AFL's pressure cooker
Footy's two games now. One's played on the field, the other's played in the media.www.theage.com.au
Don’t disagree but we are also working under the premise that Hogan actually wanted to join us as wellAs dominant side in the league, you have the luxury of taking the risk.
Hogan Exactly the types that will come for peanuts in that situation
Who dares wins, who doesn’t finishes bottom a few years later with the worst forward line ever seen, ever.
Evidence or lack of it suggests otherwise. Paywall came up MM.Article is older but the point is still correct

My post about Rance_Rioli got quoted in a tripping balls post about Hogan..... . Hogan moved in 21. Lynch & Jack R just won the flag.... AND.. Chol & CJ playing for us. CJ just off suspension. Showed enough for North to give him an offer we couldn't match. We just didn’t have the capacity to bring in hogan , basically would have had to cut a senior player to open the tpp , not gonna go that after winning a flag
Well Dimma certainly sold his soulJust a small thing about this post.
She isn't a receptionist, she's a sales rep lol
I completely forgot about him.
Let me drink as much as he wants
Trying to make extra cash
Yeah, I must have missed the group email as well.Huh?
you need to remove that profile picture to, they don't exist to me anymore.
Pretty obvious, he's drinking and watching football... this is a big no-no.Huh?
That’s the fringe benefit and is besides the pointGrow up. Daniel leaving is an opportunity to accelerate a rebuild. No one knows that more than Blair. If you don't think he told Dan we'd be cool to trade him for the right deal you underestimate him. Ditto with Shai.
What would you say if West Coast wanted Rioli as part of a deal for Harley Reid, you couldn’t pack his bags quick enough I bet. This loyalty stuff only goes so far these days, it is a business and everyone is trying to do the best for themselves be it club, player or coach. When everyone stood for a standing ovation to Cripps I hope ooze looked over at Rioli and said “one club player” as he applauded then sat down in disgust without talking to him for bal of the night , that’s sending a message
Wrong. It's the main benefit and entirely the point. That’s the fringe benefit and is besides the point
