In an attempt to take a little sting out of the news, Does anyone else think the loss of Narni at this point in time, drawing all things into consideration, is less of a blow than it was last season?

I just don't feel the rage I felt last year when I heard similar news. Form and fitness might be at play here, also the prospect of having better 'cover' for him this year.

Yeah, I felt this way as well. It will be a good opportunity for Taz to cement his spot in the side and hopefully be there when Grima comes back.

It's a positive for Robbie. Good opportunity to step up. :thumbsu:

As frigging annoying as this is....through crisis comes opportunity (crisitunity!).
Grima's injury should allow a Tarrant or Delaney to play six weeks of senior footy thay wouldn't have otherise.
We aren't going to win the flag this year, but we may well be much closer to that ultimate goal thanks to the experience gained by one or both of those two in the coming weeks.
How many times have we seen that in recent years, with Petrie, Anthony, and now Hamish, among others, out for extended periods. Each time it has allowed other players to step up and generally those replacements have stepped up, adding to our depth in the process.
Short-term pain, hopefully long-term gain.

"The Roos have had an awful run with injury from the pre-season and into the early part of the season this year. Midfielders Ryan Bastinac, Levi Greenwood and Ed Lower are yet to play, and ruckman Hamish McIntosh is missing indefinitely with an Achilles problem." From the article

Ive said it twice and il say it here.
I wouldnt mind sending Drew to be 7th man in defence this week.
Id can handle a 67 to 53 point win.
I believe in BON and the gameplan. But it doesn have to be kamikaze all the time.
A winning culture and winning interstate is paramount.
Either way i hope we show up to play.

Great...

Backline of Firrito, Pratt, McMahon, Pederson/Tarrant don't have the combined legspeed to chase down the Collins St tram and it stops every 50m.....

You watch Banfield and some other fast squib have a field day Sat night just like Ballantyne.....

Suddenly Brisbane into favorites on this news alone....!!!

Beat me to it T.

I'm more concerned about sitting two on Brown and the Bears having an extra forward. Hanson and Aaron can play the two KPF roles. Drew was basically a link man last week anyway.

Brown's been out for weeks, and even prior to that he was moving stiffly, he's got an ageing body IMO. I'm just not convinced that his inclusion warrants all of the panic. He won't be too fit, so won't run far and will just be a 'hit up' target close to goal, so we just need someone to stand on him and a third man up to kill the contest - and then have our midfield prepared to work back deep into defense to run the ball out.

I'm not sure I'd be making an special changes to cover a guy who's just off the injury list, remember how long it took Drew to find 'touch'? Grima out, Tarrant in. Job done.

Spot on.
If Azza wasnt in the squad we wouldnt consider it but he and Lachy as the targets is a good setup.

I remember going to a gabba game a few years back and spud took JB. The Bears left space open in front of him and it was game over.

Whilst match fitness will be an issue the guy is probably stronger and faster than most of our current backs (other than narni).

Bon might be better off sending Lachie to him and planting Spud 5 metres in front to fill the hole that will be left. Send Azza to CHF and open up space in front of Dish.

The Bears will double up on Dish, might be worth bringing in Warren or Mckinley to provide another mobile option up front.

LT needs to kick straight this week FFS and Azza needs to back up again as consistency has been a problem.

But the most critical thing of all will be playing accountable footy when we dont have the pill. If we dont man up then the Gabba will open up like it has in the past.

Sure he has been injured, but it hasnt limited his fitness. He has been running for 8 weeks and just started contact not that long ago. Our greatest mistake would be to underestimate his value, because he will be fit.

When I heard Grima was injured, the first word that entered my head was `koo rutz'. Closely followed by `pappa messo'. But you would think Brown is a bit underdone by all reports. What would happen if Pratt king-hit Brown behind the play but with insufficient force?

Be that as it may, Brown is one person he cannot take on the the whole team. So the thing we need to heed is to have a team effort, like our game against PA. We want to kick at least 125 points, but we need 10+ goal kickers.
