Welcome aboard, big fella.

Never thought I'd see the day when Todd Goldstein plays for Essendon, but here we are

Trains and prepares at 100% all the time. Will do his bit in the VFL if he has to. Costs nothing and is a bloke the others can keep learning from.

He's fine as an emergency back up.
But why do we need one? How many clubs have more than 2 capable AFL rucks on their list? Only ones I can see are Geelong, Freo and us.

So long as its just "break glass in case of emergency" then I'm ok with it. Can't hurt having him training at the club still and helping teach Drapes/Bryan/Vis

I'm happy with this personally. Gives us a 3rd AFL ready option in the ruck. Can keep teaching Vis and even Bryan/Draper probably learn plenty from him. Keeping him in mind Draper always misses games and I don't think Vis will be AFL ready next year. If we didn't have Goldstein we'd be discussing what our ruck depth looks like.

The only reason I reckon anyone is actually critical of this is the fact that neither Draper nor Bryan project as elite rucks. Lets face it if we had a prime Gawn or even a definitive no1 ruck we'd be loving the idea of Goldstein as a mature backup - but instead we've got 2 average rucks in Draper and Bryan.
