When Hurley kicked 3 goals last season we were creaming ourselves. Carlisle just did it in his first hit out with complete nonchalance, and without seeming like he was even in the game much. More importantly he did it without looking like a total kamikaze! Remains to be seen if he can go as good as a forward as he did a defender, but i would say we have found our solution for the time being.

Carlisle's 3 goals were from crumbs. He should be able to mark it with Chapman and Winderlich in the team.

Just realised he looks like Opie. Anyone?

I looked at the man tonight ( cause he ain't no boy any more ) and thought to myself " He's just born to be a defender- its as simple as that...thou shall not bang on to one's self about forwardline rubbish'I vowed.

A very solid performance tonight...but for the love of jesus, joseph and mary..will he just get a normal ####ing hairstyle ffs!

I agree with a couple of people here. Both Hurley and Carlisle play their best at CHB (I actually think Ryder also fits into this boat as well). We need to find the best set up for the club. IMO Hurley plays better than Carlisle in the forward 50 and Carlisle plays better than Hurley in the defensive 50.

Hurley is a beast who attacks the ball. This is what is needed in the forward 50. Carlisle reads the play really well and can use his body to advantage. SWAP THEM BACK!!!

Not sure you were watching the game if you thought Hurley was anything but very good last night.. perhaps his play didn't come up that well on TV???

All I know is that Hurley played one of his most 'complete' games... was aggressive, clean with his hands and cut off attack after attack.

It is a known problem Yoda.. we have two CHB's and we needed one of them to go forward until JD matures...

I wasn't unhappy with Carlisle game up forward.. so maybe this will suit everyone better.

All I know is that I saw glimpses of the Hurley of old.. the one that had most of us salivating at the future...

When choosing a key position forward choose the obe who is best at taking a contested mark, the guy named buckets is that man.

Hurley looked comfortable down back, liked it..

As someone said, we were excited about Hurley kicking 3 goals last year, Carlisle did it without much fan fare. If his (Carlisle's) output was 1.5 goals a game, I would happily take that over the course of the season (33 goals). If JD can average a goal a game, then we would be happily on our merry way to September.

Hurley was great. But that dreadlocked, pony-tail with shaved head look...so bad it almost took the gloss of a good win.;)
