someone please evaluate those wrists for me

From looking at his twitter feed, and speaking to a brother's friends dog walker, his wrists are stronger than ever and won't be a problem again.

Had a mate who works with a guy that talked to the bloke next to him on the train who said that he has seen Hurley catch a tennis ball with one grab, so wrists look A OK!!

What would be the pro's and con's of sticking JD at CHF in place of Hurley? He could spend most of his time there, with the resting ruck at FF. Then he could get a break by switching with the resting ruck or one of the bigger mids. Too much to ask of the young guy?

Hurley best position is back

His best position for the team right now is probably forward

I can see Carlisle, JoeD along with Ryder as he is more agile and the right mindset can apply pressure. However with those 2 i wouldnt want TBC spending to much time in attack with them aswell - killed once ball hits the ground.

So id be willing to see a Carlisle, JoeD, Ryder, Chapman, Winderlich, small forward (Kommer, , Jetta, Merrett) attack

Or go with just JoeD and either TBC or Ryder as 2 key talls along with Chapman, Winderlich, (Kommer/Jetta/Merrett) and use Melksham, Goddard, Zaharakis forward more or Hardingham as the 3rd tall type.

Those are the options without Hurley forward that i can only see. Dont want to see TBC, Carlisle, JoeD forward line too often.

Bomber on record saying Hurley's a "natural defender, but the decision is not only up to him" (latest press conference). Inference being Hurley is going to be played up forward because of a dearth of options but we could see him move back once we fill the void.

Way to go Bomber, tell the world that Hird is still calling the shots.

The guy needs a minder.

Seriously though, he was really just saying what Keystone Agony has posted above.

I would have thought that was a reference to Crameri and Gumbleton.

Some variation on this would make a lot of people happy i think. How would you position the talls?

If they want a cohesive forward line I think they have to avoid Hurley. When he is in the side he defines and dominates the structure by hitting the packs and working so damn hard. When he is out there is no cohesion left. No one seems to know where to run etc... On that thought, Chappy should make an enormous difference to cohesion in the forward line which is a damn exciting thing!

I think we'll see Carlisle forward.

Hurley's on a 5 year deal worth a reported 3 million, so something like 600K a season. That's a big investment. At that money, it seems like one could say "The best thing for the team is to play Hurley in his best position and get their money's worth"

Didnt think he was on that much, but yes its quite a bit.

Another could say his best position for the team right now is forward. I dont think many would disagree.

We certainly need to during NAB cup, early round sort this out and see what structures will work up forward. Its far more complicated than "Play hurley back, thats his best position". You need to look at it from a team perspective and whats best for the team and success.

The problem with that is it will work fine. We will look a million dollars with Hurley there for the first few weeks. Then he is gone and we are back in ground hog day. Screw that for a laugh. The forward line is crying out for consistency so that it can develop as a unit...

WOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Now you guys wont have to hear me bang on about it constantly! If you haven't already ignored me that is! ;)

That is such a relief... We might just be exchanging one problem for a new set of problems, but we can cling to the illusion of progress at the very least!

Gumby sure would have been nice next season as depth in case of TBC or JD going down. I know he had had enough of that gig, but it would have been far clearer cut next season with Hurley out of the picture and the temptation to use Crameri as a tall gone. If TBC got an early injury and JD fades as expected in the second half of the season, then Gumby could have ended up with a lot of game time.

How does the defence set up if he is to play down back? Are they only going to play Fletcher in select games? Seems pointless if he was to go on another year only to barely play. Also, I'd rather them not dislodge Carlisle from the backline after looking solid and much better there than his small stints forward.
