a lot of qbs play in one systen their entire pro-career, so yeah theyre sustem qbs. guys like alex smith, josh mccown, ryan fitzpatrick can claim to be not.

system qb should not be confused with game manager tho.....which garoppolo is
Youre such a noob...didn't watch any niners whatsoever til the playoffs did you?

ftr, foles played in multiple sustems too, so is not a system qb. whoever said that (adp im guessing) showing their poor football acumen :(

Oh ok, so playing in different systems, even if you play poorly in 75% of them discounts you from being a system QB..... ok. Makes a ton of sense. 😂

Garoppolo had the best passer rating in the NFL on passes of more than 15 yards during the regular season. When the training wheels were allowed to come off he could be pretty effective. Not bad for a game managing check down monster.

get your jargon right, is my point.

You're nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking. Trying to prove how much more clever you are.

I'm not denying your knowledge of football is far greater, but **** me, saying a QB isn't a system QB and when he fails in all but one system is ridiculous.

Foles did well under Chips system abd well under Pedersons. He bombed in Jacksonville. But was an injury marred season. He probably learned it no sweat tho. The criticism toward Jimmy here is about his inability under pressure -- which would relate more to perhaps being a game manager label because he DID perform very well this year in the WCO system at various times of the year...and as you attest that he had a great season -- so he obviously learned the system and performed well in it.

instead....he folds under pressure, thats more game manager label criticism.

Mahomes choked in the first half/ three quarters of the Superbowl. Pretty big pressure environment. Happy to ignore that tho as it doesn't fit the narrative.

he got a bit over-awed, tho both coaches were playing very conservative in the first half, and niners D was throttling the deeper throws. he certainly didnt fold in the pressure of the second half, and especially 4th, making such a comeback.

also showed in the previous two playoffs he rises under pressure and being a lot behind on the scoreboard....thats the hardest thing to do, make comeback wins so consistently, means theyre clutch and eat up pressure.

niners were getting mad pass-rush pressure on him all game including during that 4th qtr comeback.

chiefs were getting mad pressure on Jimmy in the 4th and he folded, the stats show that.

Playing in the same system your entire career does not make you a system QB

You could argue Mahomes' defence kept him in the game. His performance and the turnovers should had the game out of reach for the Chiefs.

I know you have a hard on for all things fourth quarter and comeback wins. The final result plays a big part in how you view certain players. Which is funny, given Marino never could get it done.

eg, tom brady gets legitimately called a system qb...is it because hes got a limited skill set? no, of course not. but thats the PERCEPTION. but they call him a system qb because hes been in one all his career, and succeeded, and people think he couldn't succeed in another (the perception)

A system QB is a QB with a limited skill set only able to succeed in a single system. i.e. Lamar Jackson

Exactly.

CPT nitpick just trying to illustrate to everyone how great his knowledge is.

Marino never could get it done.
you know the answer to that....team around him.

but i think he has the most 4th qtr comeback wins all-time, or did have until someone else got the record.

Why are you using dumb people to justify your point?
