Really does sound as if BT are going to hit their straps come finals.

Usually in the D1 Forum , scanning some of the U19s to see what can be learnt about potential inclusions to seniors come finals, in this section it is Rupo Therry and BT that also have teams in D1 , but so far what I read looks like all the contributors are BT players and I suspect even a coach may be amongst you.

How about some info on the the U19s good enough to press for senior selection? any being elevated this week or in coming weeks?

Looks as if the top 4 are all but locked in, with Reds playing Aquinas, and Xavs playing BT in the 1st week of finals. Aquinas seems to have the wood over the Reds and it will be a big turnaround from today for the Xavs to get up against Bulleen.

Any comments on the standard of umpiring this year?

Xavs v. BT on the weekend, i think both teams would agree that the umpiring was atrocious. This became all too obvious in the final quarter when some of the lads got fired up and the umpires stood there doing what they only know how to do- blow whistles. unfortunately, as with the rest of the game, they shouldn't have been doing it! isn't the protocol to throw the ball up and let the game continue to disperse such instances?

As well as this, following injuries to both sides (one case where a stretcher was brought out) the game wasn't stopped until players had to scream at the umpires to stop it. This is just not on, and has been a feature of numerous games this year i'm sure many would agree.
Luckily there are to be 2 more umpires added to the 19(red) stocks... lets hope they know what they're doing.

Any thoughts? agree? disagree?

Also, how many games does a person need to play for finals eligability? Anyone sure? I've heard five, but this hasn't been confirmed.

Hey mate,
My understanding is if you are registered with under 19's you are able to play even if you have not played a game. If you have played with another team in VAFA eg. played up in the seniors or Res. aslong as you have 1 game in the 19's you are right to play.
However if you have played 5 or more games for another team in the VAFA eg 5 senior games you must have played 5 or more in the 19's to be eligible.
VFL players must play at least 5 with the 19's
TAC players not sure
Anyone else confused???

Finals for 19's Reds to be played on a Suday! Is this a good or bad thing? Are players more or less likely to have work commitments?
Good to see a nice surface in Preston city oval being used for the last too games.

Is it possible to play finals for both senior and u/19 teams? If they are on different days and the player is physically up to it then why not? is there anywhere in the rulebook that says this is not possible? It seems like a reasonable question considering you are able to play a reserves match followed immediately by a seniors match.

This weeks matches on paper seem easy picks but i know there will be some upsets.
The Reds will take care of the Nobs by 6
Xavs if they are serious will bounce back and pound kew at the mud pit
Don't be surprised it rupo do a carlton and take Westbournes finals chance away.
Big call but Therry will beat Bulleen/Temp and will do to in some fashion too.

Heard injuries have hit a few clubs this week and might cause the above results.

Therry haven't won since they beat Xavs in round 10, not including the bye and last time they played BT won by 10 goals so that it a very big call.

You'l look a hell of a lot smarter than me if its right though.

Can see Kew getting up against Xavs as well, might be a pretty close game.

Only someone from fitzroy would be so concerned with another teams player and also be so far off. Unless the boy goes out partying to hard before 2pm saturday his hamstring will be fine. Seem the reds boys love talking bout PV are you guys that worried that given the chance he'll make an exhibition of your backs?

Where did you get your mail redz?

You could just about be very right with your news on P. Voglis, Heard around the club that he has not been able to train much lately and is going to be severly restricted tomorrow (that is if he even manages to get on the park) Word is that if it is not properly treated before the bye he could just miss most of the thier run home and possibly finals, Big news but hopefully he responds to treatment and is able to wear the blue gold come finals time.

No P. Iosifidis will not be able to make a much anticipated return this week due to work commitments, however is definetly in line to play a role in the last round and finals.

:D westy's warriors

Thx

redz,
you are so far off the mark it isn't funny. P Voglis bags 9 goals but you still don't believe that he played. Be very stupid of BT team manager to record that he kicks 9 yet didn't play. And Iosifidis was not even at the ground. Check the detailed results on the VAFA website and you'll see he's not even mentioned on the team list.
