Yes it is Gary Foley. He looked crook.

I know Garry from when I used to show at Spacement in Flinders Lane, he was then a friend of Danny Schwartz. He looks just like Destiny Deacon did two years ago before she stepped off her mortal coil.
Because of the blindness that is mentioned by you Kimba, it's probably late stage diabetes or Glaucoma or both.

Gary used to drink with the best of them all the while holding up an Academic career back then.
I know of him through the Pram Factory mob also and spoke with Les McDonald about him bc he knew him back in the late 60's as a teenager and he was one of his progidies.
It's hard seeing the photo of him as I also saw 'Uncle' Ricky Nelson my old schoolmate up in Dja Dja Wurrung country.
He is not doing well physically and it's very sad to see him a wizened ancient.

I say count your blessings time bc without always looking backwards at how far you've come, the nostalgia honey trap, it's time to plan for the next 20 while still able body and weed out the stuff that is wasting your time.

The epic analogue house cleaning continues and I have just got to side 2 of Sandy Devotional. I can't say I like side 1 but my house rules are play the whole album from start to fin. Wide Open Road the seminal track on now with the visual of those big fluffy clouds that make the sky seem so huge here.

As far as this aging and living goes, it’s bit of a lottery though Pamcake1. My dad’s uncle fought in WW1, having enlisted when he was underage, got gassed, survived the war, lost a lung, was a chronic alcoholic for 40 years when he got back, then ‘took the pledge’ in the early 60’s, never touched a drop after that and lived to 101. His son, who passed last year also lived to 100. I’m hoping I drew some of the same genes from the family pool. My dad didn’t look after himself and died at 65. Mums still going at 84. Who knows when I’ll go. I don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke, played 3 sets of tennis this morning without blowing up and get regular health checks. Maybe I should get back on the beer and durries. I’m adopting a mind over matter approach and at this stage I’m too busy to die.

I was being facetious. “You can’t say what you think nowadays because you have to be woke.”

Nah, but apparently he doesn’t play it. I think he said that he didn’t feel comfortable with the lyrics or felt it was of its time but not these times. I read it somewhere and it lodged in my mind.

I’ve often had this chat about art and revisionism and self censorship and the vagaries of social acceptance. I love the song and wouldn’t think twice about playing it. It used to be a regular on my show.
