Yes it is Gary Foley. He looked crook.
I know Garry from when I used to show at Spacement in Flinders Lane, he was then a friend of Danny Schwartz. He looks just like Destiny Deacon did two years ago before she stepped off her mortal coil.
Because of the blindness that is mentioned by you Kimba, it's probably late stage diabetes or Glaucoma or both.

Gary used to drink with the best of them all the while holding up an Academic career back then.
I know of him through the Pram Factory mob also and spoke with Les McDonald about him bc he knew him back in the late 60's as a teenager and he was one of his progidies.
It's hard seeing the photo of him as I also saw 'Uncle' Ricky Nelson my old schoolmate up in Dja Dja Wurrung country.
He is not doing well physically and it's very sad to see him a wizened ancient.

I've been having the conversation about turning 60 with my youngest sister, as she does this week. It's a count you blessings time and I reiterated the NYT article about it's genetic survival after 67...or what exactly they said rephrased.
I say count your blessings time bc without always looking backwards at how far you've come, the nostalgia honey trap, it's time to plan for the next 20 while still able body and weed out the stuff that is wasting your time.

The epic analogue house cleaning continues and I have just got to side 2 of Sandy Devotional. I can't say I like side 1 but my house rules are play the whole album from start to fin. Wide Open Road the seminal track on now with the visual of those big fluffy clouds that make the sky seem so huge here.

Wise words Pammy. I'm turning it later this year and trying to put balance into things.

To quote Peter De Vries; Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

As far as this aging and living goes, it’s bit of a lottery though Pamcake1. My dad’s uncle fought in WW1, having enlisted when he was underage, got gassed, survived the war, lost a lung, was a chronic alcoholic for 40 years when he got back, then ‘took the pledge’ in the early 60’s, never touched a drop after that and lived to 101. His son, who passed last year also lived to 100. I’m hoping I drew some of the same genes from the family pool. My dad didn’t look after himself and died at 65. Mums still going at 84. Who knows when I’ll go. I don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke, played 3 sets of tennis this morning without blowing up and get regular health checks. Maybe I should get back on the beer and durries. I’m adopting a mind over matter approach and at this stage I’m too busy to die. 🤞

I love this song, but apparently he doesn’t do it anymore. The lyrics are too challenging in this age.

was this Kimba humour that I just walked past...............

I was being facetious. “You can’t say what you think nowadays because you have to be woke.” 🤣🤪

Nah, but apparently he doesn’t play it. I think he said that he didn’t feel comfortable with the lyrics or felt it was of its time but not these times. I read it somewhere and it lodged in my mind.

I’ve often had this chat about art and revisionism and self censorship and the vagaries of social acceptance. I love the song and wouldn’t think twice about playing it. It used to be a regular on my show.

This was the article I read.
We have circled back to 1984 and correct-speak, no ?
On this site if you put an 's' in front of said word to mean chortle but far more descriptive of sly chortle you get pinged and rejected, as I found out one time.
The AI does not parse the definition through a refined filter.

I'll Baddonk myself here with what I consider one of his best:

and a companion piece from a contemporary:

Absolutely! I was listening to this yesterday and it is such a good song.

I LOVE BAD! Having been booted from The Clash, his career response was brilliant.

Thanks for the new music Pammy.

Could you please send me some cotton wool and sticks. I’m sitting in the most mind numbing staff PD session and I want to stuff my ears and poke my eyes out.

Being back to the grindstone is hard, I feel for you.
I also forgot to mention 'Homicide; Life on the Streets' is on SBS On Demand atm. This is the first series written by David Simon, preceding The Wire. It's definitely 80's dated but never shown here before now.

Here's another nice tune:

She was an absolute legend. Still have the album version of Broken English with the banned "Why D'ya Do It?" on it.
But it's her version of Working Class Hero that I love so much with the understated throbbing bass. And Guilt is possibly the best track on the album.

I remember her doing the songs of Brecht and Weill possibly in the late 80s or early 90s. Had a voice that just brought the lyrics to life.

She was a one off.

Set List from Siouxsie and the Banshees at the Astor Theatre 23rd of February 1983. Not the longest set, but it was a great show. This might have been the only gig I went to at the Astor.

I remembered this photo appeared in the press during the tour.
“Here, Siouxsie. Hold the Koala and we’ll get a few pictures.”
The shot struck me as incongruous at the time.

Great article. I'll be questioning my own behaviours all day in the light of it.

What makes it worse is that we're playing the OOBs this week and their posters are great for dopamine spikes.

I have to admit, I know the first three, but that is it.
