The only way it might happen is if you assume it might hit the batsman on the way through and you leave your body in that position outside the off stump and put the gloves extended out on the line of the ball and just take it on the body if it deviates... getting it with the gloves would be near impossible, as you're describing.I kept wicket for the Victorian indoor side, and there is no keeper in the world getting to that ball at that pace with that much deviation so close to the keeper. And ALL indoor keepers are pretty decent up to the stumps.
