$41 dollars on Hugs Dancer not sure if it is still on offer

but on what should be a firm track great barrier no weight absolutley no query on the distance. I think it would have won last year on a good track, finished up 5th i think on a bog which i will be absolutley having some of the 40's is still about. :thumbsu:

Got on at 100 before the run in the winning edge or whatever it is called now, really good run in that flew home behind leica falcon.Hasn't had a run since Caulfield guineas day But Hayes knows what he is doing

I'm backing Railings for the Caulfield-Melbourne double, I may put a couple of bucks on a Railings-Vinnie Roe-Kindjahl trifecta. (There's nearly always a roughie in the places)

To me there is 3 standouts

Diva
Railings
Leica Falcon

The X Factor is Demerger whos formline isn't crash hot but has been primed for this and its last run at 3200m was massive

Eye Popper I dont think you can leave out

And I think of the half-roughies Mr Celebrity and Lachlan River both had eye catching runs on the weekend

Still havent decided and wont til Tuesday

I can really only see five horses winning - Makybe Diva, Railings, Leica Falcon, Eye Popper and Vinnie Roe. Possibly Demerger or Lachlan River, but highly unlikely.

I think anything else is making up the numbers. It's not a particualrly strong field - i still think Australian staying could be a lot stronger if the racing authorities got together to schedule in more staying races (at both group level and class/open level).

The only thing stopping the Diva IMO would be dreadful luck (which is possible coming from the back end of the field in a 24-horse race. There's a lot of horses to get around) or the weight (which is also possible).

But compared to every other horse there is a lot more that could stop them winning.

So the Diva for me.

The only question is will she be coming in too short on the tote...... Which is also quite possible.

She is $3.30 right now with $64k in the pool (on Supertab).

I wouldn't be betting on anything at those odds in a Cup, especially with 58kgs.

I think i'll be backing Leica Falcon and Vinnie Roe on track, both will be over the odds with Makybe getting all the casual punters money.

Hugs Dancer........9 year old........no 9 year olds have won the cup in the last 100 years.

Yeh I agree those 5 are the only real chances, but I think that Mr Celebrity and Xcellent could surprise.

I like Dizelle, it is being underrated severely cos of the bad luck it has had recently with its shocking barrier draws, he hasnt faired much better but I think he could be a surprise, for atleast a placing and shud be in ya trifecta. I still like Railings, with Mr Celebrity and Greys Inn as the other two real roughies.

Diva by as far as you can throw a frisbee on a windy day.
Boss didn't even crack the whip in the Cox Plate & she loves the long straight at Flemington, she'll mow them down with 200 to go then show them a clean set of heels.
$500 on the nose.

To me the cup's between 3, Eye popper at best is a long shot although it's probably the form horse at the distance, Jap horse and will have railings to deal with. Vinnie Roe unless it does something different it wont be getting past MD.

Now to the contenders barring an absouloute blue moon shot which ? might happen. It will be between Railings, MD, and L Falcon. For mine probably L falcon got enough speed to pass MD in the run to the line if kieren times his run right which is fast becoming a certainty Lf should win. The other chance Railings could pull it off, but it's not going to get things it's own way.

Ditto and no outstanding ( for me) oddsbuster like Zazzman was ( for me) last year.

I do like On A Jeune ..finished 3rd over 2306 carrying 57kg and then won the Geelong Cup over 2400 carrying 54kg. Is now on 51 so the thinking for me is that the 6/3 kgs less will allow him to keep going another 800 .

Hugs Dancer is down on weight as well but as monarch pointed out no 9 year old has won.I think it will be a place bet at best.

Xcellent... form doesnt suggest too much and distance must be a concern.

My money may well go on Makybe Diva if track is no better than Good.

Eye Popper will now carry most of my money.

Trifectas will be a combination of

Eye Popper 1 Makybe Diva 1 Railings 1

Eye Popper 2 Makybe Diva 2 Railings 2 Leica Falcon 2 On A Jeune 2 Vinnie Roe 2

Eye Popper 3 Makybe Diva 3 Railings 3 Leica Falcon 3 On A Jeune 3
Vinnie Roe 3 Hugs Dancer 3

$75 trifecta

Nice call of the card there PerthCrow. Will you be calling the race that stops the nation. :p

one race on the agenda for this neddy and at last the weather man has come to the party. Xcellent will not be making his run 1000ms out this time Michael will he? LOL, or did we need a real good hit out in the decoy target race? LOL.
Smoky of the field with the conditions this time suiting him, Hugs Dancer.
Not writing off the diva, but if Xcellent is ridden like he is supposed to, cant see Diva holding out his finishing burst at the weights.
Xcellent - Makeby Diva -Eye Popper - Hugs Dancer ;)

I cannot see Makybe Diva winning with 58kg on her back, especially if the track doesn't suit. sure, everybody wants Makybe to win, but history and the conditions make it very very tough for her.

I don't really like her drawing barrier one, but Portland Singa won the Brisbane Cup at 3200, and $35 is way too good to pass up for a horse that is proven at the distance.

therefore, my trifecta:

1. Railings
2. Portland Singa
3. Strasbourg

roughie: Greys Inn
