1. Riewoldt - cant go past a gun forward
2. Selwood - out and out gun
3. Frawley - cant go past a gun defender
4. Tippett - Cant go past a gun forward
5. Gibbs - 4 players in front are much more influential to date, good solid mid though
6. Hansen - will be a gun
7. Boak - solid mid
8. Dawes - proved he is a gun
9. Gumbleton - Dropped low due to injuries but will be good if his body holds up
10. Armitage - will break into the mid when older guys slow down - gun
11. Garland- will be a gun H/B
12. Petterd - Will be a great H/F but needs weight
13. Leunberger - will come good, very young
14. Thomas - knows where the goals are, fast and accurate
15. N.Brown - big unit, could be anything
16. M Brown - see above

So you would take Garland, M.Brown, N.Brown, Dawes and Armitage ahead of Todd Goldstein?

O.K.......

He was only looking at the first round players so Thorpe had to be picked and not guys like Tippett and Petterd.

I've looked through the draft and really it's very shallow. The first round is only a 50% success roughly and the rest of the draft has heaps of duds and very few quality players. Definitely no super draft.

pppffffttt shallow draft eh. i would like to see what you consider a deep one then.

sheesh given roughly only about 70 kids get taken each yr in the nd. kids taken late or pick 60 odd onwards while not out and out world beaters include hogan connors petersen hill goldsack sheldon westhoff collins.
without looking into it to closely i would suggest only a handful of players from the first 3 rnds that is up to pick 50 are not there not a bad return from a draft that happened 4 yrs ago.

using the top 16 from above, my top 10:

1. selwood
2. riewoldt
3. tippet
4. frawley
5. gibbs
6. boak
7. hansen
8. luenberger
9. gumbleton
10. dawes

Just quoting these guys as ahead of Ben Reid for lawlz.

people underrating reid, he will be better than frawley bookmark it

Based on what? Frawley has already made the AA squad and is likely to make the team. Reid has a lot of catching up to do.

Great draft for Port - Boak, Gray, P.Stewart, Westhoff and Rodan. :thumbsu:

I believe that come the end of their careers, Boak and Gray would both be top 10 among the other players from the 2006 draft.

We came out with this:

National Draft

Daniel O'Keefe
Peter Faulks
Dan Currie
Jesse White

Rookie Draft

Nick Smith
Matthew O'Dwyer
Luke Brennan
Matthew Davis

So out of 8 picks we have 2 keepers and 1 potential keepers, the rest are gone and O'Dwyer is borderline.

Not a great draft for the Swans

Taking this piss?

Whilst Reid is having a good break out year at CHB - in my eyes he is a failed forward turned defender.

Hansen and Gumbleton are getting the job done in the hardest position on the ground.

Gumbleton has done very little.

Yeah well missing virtually three years of footy with a chronic back problem will do that

Averaged around the 10 possie mark, over a goal p/g and around 5 marks p/g (19 games in total) - I would've taken that and run had I know this in March.

Exceeded my expectations - will be a star IMO. One of the best hands in the league.

okay then...I'll bookmark it:confused:

Ah well you see this means the opinion presented is in fact incontrovertible truth. The poster is so sure of the essential rightness of his position he invites you to witness how history will carve his words in stone.

OT I hate this draft. This is when we had "Crazy" Chris Connelly and his sidekick Cam "I make all the trading around here" Schwab. These 2 loveable rogues decided to sell our next 5 years down the drain in an attempt to buy a premiership. We are only just seeing the light at the end of that dark tunnel they took us down.

Gee Collingwoods draft was impressive.

Reid was the youngest player taken in the draft and with pick 8, could have waited to 07, is the same age as kruezer and only 3cms shorter..

No I would not change that draft at all thanks :D

Not a bad draft if you could have pick one again. An All Australian midfielder and likely to be All Australian FF and FB. It would depend on the needs of the team I guess. At the time Blues had the best FF in the game but right now probably would look at Jack with the first pick but also Selwood for his ball winning.
