Should be an interesting season. New Zealand, Cairns, Dragons, and Perth look to have great coaching and chemistry. All of those have different ways to win and will be interesting watching the match up.

Think it happened a while ago, but Pepper has been released, having personal problems AFAIK, Hinder has replaced him.

Will Pepper play in the NBL at all this year with any other club?.

Bring back all the foundation clubs (Brisbane, Newcastle, Canberra + Geelong, Hobart and the Kings) under special rules, and allow less than 3500 seat stadiums with no Air Cond.

BTW In case anyone has missed it, Ebi Ere has signed with the South Dragons ..

Man, I reckon the Dragons are going to do a 'Boston Celtics' type turnaround this season, and go from boiled lollies to Champions !!! :D :D

Depth, chemestry, best coach in NBL history, what is not to like about Da Dragons !!!

The new name for Vodaphone arena is hidieous however ..

HiSense Arena

But I think you're right about the Dragons, Id say top 4 teams will be Perth Dragons Melbourne Breakers going by rosters at the moment.

Julius isn’t coming back to Oz; he will play in the NBA with the New Jersey Nets

At this stage I am still backing no league at all for the summer of 08 and a revamped comp starting after the review has been handed down.

You would have to think that at this stage.

Having said that, Melbournes isn't incredibly impressive as yet, but one would presume it will be once it is finalised.

if Julius Hodge is wit teh sixers... then we've got the championship.

:D

He's not coming, and even if he was, you still wouldn't be close to the aforementioned sides.

If the Cairns can get Jawai back they will be a good fit for the top 4. A fit and healthy Cat in the 4 spot, Steven Black at the point with Dave Thomas and Nathan Jawai and they will be a formidable unit.

what makes u think that?

he sucked in the summer league games last season with the sonics who were one of the worst summer league teams.

Kiki Vandeweghe loves the way he plays (drafted him in Denver) and they need a bit of back court depth on the bench in case VC goes down.

A lot has happened since then but. He had great number in the NBA development league and showed he was back on his game here in Oz.

Well Jawai aint coming back from everything I've heard, and theyve replaced him with Crosswhite, thats why I don't think they'll be top 5.

Dont get me wrong, Black, Mee, Thomas, Cattalini, Crosswhite is decent, but not better than the other 4 above them.

They couldnt get it done last year with Jawai, they wont get it done now without him.

But lst year Mee, Cat and Black (played at like 50%) were all injured - but i rate Jawai and will be the difference between 4th and 8th

Are you suggesting he will make their NBA roster? I have read that they are willing to let him play in Europe (or Oz) for one more year and then come over but I have also read that they want him now and traded specifically for him – so I don’t know what to believe.

Crosswhite – don’t rate him so I will have to agree with your assessment.

The Sixers should be that 5th team then.

1) Tigers
2) Dragons
3) Breakers
4) Perth
5) Sixers
6) Gold Coast
7) Townsville
8) Cairns (top 4 if Jawai comes back)
9) Hawks (if sav has a good year) Singapore
10) West Sydney

Well I've heard he's already signed a 1 year deal, and you dont sign contracts with a team if you're being shipped off to Europe or back home, it sounds like he'll be on their roster coming in at 10-15.

Cattalini is getting old and injured often, Mee I havent felt he has done much the past few years and is getting quite turnover prone but still a decent defender. I rate Black as hes a really hard worker and can hit the long ball, he's just a c*nt of a human being is all. Crosswhite, meh...but Thomas is a great signing and will help.

If that's true, sweet deal for Jawai - 2 Aussie in the show. :thumbsu:
