aaah swans4eva u make a very strong argument. i agree with all these judgements. my only slight worry is sumner but 4/5 success stories for one draft campaign...sorta ****in NARLED the draft then ay? i look forward to more posts from u of the utmost finest quality.
thanks bud, welcome to big footy :thumbsu:

Liked Reid but given he's has only played one game (though a huge climb up the ladder) I'd be inclined to give TDL the better score. He's played a huge role in the last few weeks when we really needed a good forward to step up.

Whilst I completely agree with your statement on TDL playing a vital role in our team. He is 22, Reid is 18.

Some interesting - and accurate observations on what we have seen on game day. Have been looking from a different angle - thru some of the 2009 Draft Camp results.

Clearly it must be rewarding for the recruiters to see there qualities coming to fruition now we/they have seen a few games under the belts of our 2009 picks

1. The "pick for pace" approach is now even more obvious. results of the 20m sprint has 4 of our picks in the top 10. Reid (2.92 secs), Rohan(2.93) ,Jetta (2.95) and TDL (2.88) see WA results which would have made him equal quickest in 2009. Well documented thru the media - Jetta specifically - but aslo some of TDL's run downs over the weekend.

2. Vertical Jump - Lewis Jetta (69cm) Sam Reid (66cm) TDL running vert jump 93cm (WA Results) and we havnt really seen these guys jump all that much yet.

3. Beep test - Top 10 Sam Reid (14.7) TDL (14.6) -

4. Agility Run - Top 10 TDL (8.18) (transfer WA results into top 10)

5. Kicking test - Top dog Gary Rohan (77% efficiency) - no WA results TDL would have been interesting !!

It would appear we have got some real athletes here - pace is not surprizing but it would seem the Sam Reid & TDL have pretty big tanks as well - and can jump, as well as being pretty slick over 20.

Would have been great to get the SA test results and put Byron into the mix - from what I have read - one could guess he would have tested top 10 in a few areas also.

Below are the results from the National draft camp which contains Top 10 scores

Appears that TDL attended the WA screening camp - see below

Am unable to see how Byron tested - cant find results.

geat post. Really interesting stuff.

looks like great recruiting to me

So what position will Reid play next year and beyond? I'd only read that he was a developing key defender but he looked very comfortable up the ground and with great hands and a beautiful kick would make a pretty good target in the forward line. While watching the game I just assumed it was Roos doing his typical thing where he bloods a new player more or less at half forward. He's certainly needed more down back for the future you would think.

He's a lot like Rohan in that regard and honestly, I want him starting on the bench. Not because I don't think he could crack the 18, but because I think he'd be extremely useful as a tall utility.

Reid is tailor-made for CHF IMO. Very quick, fantastic leap, bucket-like hands, and a big frame that will fill out very nicely indeed. He'd be wasted in defence IMO, and I'd much rather see somebody like White trialled down there.

Rohan could end up the best of the three and I wouldn't think about swapping 2 for 1, when the 2 look like becoming exactly what we need.

Rohan could do and I hope he does. I think there's just more uncertainty around both Rohan and Jetta over the long term. Both are going to have outstanding moments and great highlights packages, but Martin looks to be a Rolls Royce. He has all the hallmarks of 250+ games (100+ as captain), 100 Brownlow Votes and possibly 5 AA guernseys.

We all deeply respect the Sydney recruiting committee - they've just been fantastic as the results speak for themselves. They would also be very happy with the outcome of Rohan and Jetta. But even they agree that the value of Martin is rare and worth two excellent players.

Maybe if I phrased it a different way to help take the bias out of the discussion - if you had to either give up Hannebery or both Rohan and Jetta, which option would you choose? Personally I'd keep Hannebery and Martin's every bit as good.

The recruiters get a 12/10 for this draft... Ridiculously good imo. TDL & Reid are by far the 2 best pick ups. Rohan & Jetta closely behind. Don't know much about Byron but from what I have actually read he sounds the goods too.

Reid could be a great asset fwd 7 back in the future. A fantastic tall utility is always helpful.

As for Jetta/Rohan over Martin I'd go the player(s) that fit in our structures more-so than overall potential... You can have 3 amazing midfields who all get in each others way and don't compliment each other or select players based on how cohesive they play together. Jetta & Rohan bring something different to our side and for that I wouldn't trade them for Martin anyday (well, not any day... more likely to keep them than not) :p

i look at this and i think back to geelongs 1999 effort in the draft. they picked up joel corey with pick 8, chappy with 31, Ling with 38 and enright with 47

chuck in a father son (ablett) and a couple of other good picks and you have the team that could win its 3rd flag in 4 years.

dont want to get ahead of ourselves, but this is certainly looking like a very good draft for us.

Well we have a pretty fair father son coming in the 2011 draft in Tom Mitchell and if we could somehow convince Joe Daniher to come up here too we'll be laughing.
