Wow, we seemed to have missed everything after our first pick. We could have been Hawthorn :O

If we picked any of those guys listed, there is no guarantee that they would be the players they are today. Some players need to be surrounded by good players to bring out their best.
As for Jacobs, a team picked him then thought he was not good and traded him.

Hindsight has 20/20 vision.

Jacobs was wanted at Carlton he just wanted out of there because they are terrible tankers. He was the best player in there finals campaign that year . They just had all their money spent on Kruezer Warncock ans Hampson at the time . The idiots lost the best ruckman out of the 4 on their list. In fairness they did manage to off load Hampson to us a couple of years later for a second round draft pick so they are not totally stupid

We all know our recruiting has been shyte.

Not sure what you are pointing out. We've been down this road just a few trillion times...

I do hold out hope for this years draftees though. First time we've invested in youth for a while without recycled rubbish. Feel for poor Drummond though.

What are you trying to say here? That we should've taken Gary Rohan instead of Dustin Martin? Should've taken Koby Stevens instead Ben Griffiths? Should've taken Liam Jones instead of anyone?

You've listed a lot of spuds in those lists.

Good drafting is selecting the best from what is left and poor drafting is not selecting the best from what's left
Casino Jackson and co has had years to master this and have only got the obvious ones right.

just looking at our first picks
Recently BEllis conca lennon Cellis Flossy in no order are all iffy ATM.
Bellis could be a star ,but still plays scared and ducks his head a lot. Glorified version of Houli
Flossy looks slow and could just be a good ordinary footballer .no world beater
Conca enough said
Cellis and Lennon still early but looks great.

All of the above players could turn out to be genuine top liners as i don't know if its the current coaching and fitness dept
who are not up to it bc now Martin Cotchin and jack look ordinary as soon as the heat comes on

Glad somebody else has noticed this. So disappointing for such a big boy.

Honestly, I don't think Richmond could have missed as much as it looks. IMO, the problem lies with player development. Our team cannot develop players like other teams can.

Yes, they were bad at recruiting players, but it is highly unlikely that Richmond could have been so crap to the extent that they missed so much talent only to pick up ordinary players that are now delisted.

Even now, we are seeing quality players go backwards that could have been top 5 players in the league if they were developed in another side.

This notion is backed up by ex players (who were ordinary at Richmond) lighting up the stage at other clubs, such as Jay Shulz at Port Adelaide and Matt White (who was the super sub at Richmond but now gets regular gigs at a good side like Port).

Maybe it isn't our recruiters who need to be looked at. Maybe it is those who are involved in the development of the players who need to be sorted out
