Other thread has reached 1000 post and will shortly be closed (i presume).

Some notes from the VFL/Reserves Scoreboards in the Sydney Morning Herald today:

Djerrkura - not many may of heard of him, but he's a second round draft pick (2006 draft IIRC?) that was listed in the best yet again but has little hope of cracking the geelongs best 22. Surely he must get a run sometime this year??

Jack Riewoldt - kicked 6 goals and listed in the best, surely must get recalled
Dick - listed in the best - may be a chance with all the pies injuries

Hurley - best on ground, and will probably return this week with essendons defensive woes
Quinn - listed in the best for the second week running
Lucas - kicked 3 goals, backing up the 4 he kicked last week

Maguire - another bag of 5 goals, and should return soon. Whether he will play in defence to ensure gram, gilbert and fisher remained freed up isnt certain, as he is performing well as a FW. Listed in the best.

Greenwood - best on ground for werribee.

Schoenmakers!!! - I love this kid, listed in the best

D Currie - best on ground
N. Malceski - four goals, and in the best, but probably playing a HF role that isnt DT friendly anyway
Orreal/Pyke - both kicked a goal

Some things to think about.

Re: 2009 Reports and Articles Part Two

Have had Schoenmakers from the start poor selection!!!
Cannot see him getting a recall this season unless the Hawthorn soft c*ck virus spreads more throughout the team, and he gets picked for an injured player:D

Re: 2009 Reports and Articles Part Two

Shoey gave Watts a bath on the weekend, completely shut him down. Doubt we will see him again this year though, as Dowler has grabbed his chance in the third tall role. Expect to see more of Boots in a few years, once the kg's start packing on.

Jack Riewoldt - 6 goals.

It must be very frustrating for tigers fans to watch there struggling AFL players dropped to the VFL have them dominate then come back and have no impact again.

The quotes below are courtesy of lemon chicken who was at the QE Oval on Saturday, from the stickied thread Bendigo 2009 on the Dons board. My bold.

Hurley - best on ground, and will probably return this week with essendons defensive woes

Hurley started on Jarrad Grant, killed him for the first qtr then Flaherty was suddenly on him and Hurls is picking up Chris Egan . Played most of the match and would have to be playing seniors next week, he is too good for this.

Quinn - listed in the best for the second week running

Quinn was one of the few that was prepared to run but once the ball is kicked in the air he is lost. Cant question his endeavour just needs to play more games. His kicking is better than some blokes who have been playing all their lives *cough* Nash *cough*.

Can't see him coming in tbh. Tyson Slattery seems to be ahead of him as an emergency (Slats didn't play for Bendigo because he was the 23rd man so to speak)

Lucas - kicked 3 goals, backing up the 4 he kicked last week

Lucas was ok but his limitations are noticable at VFL level. Worked hard on the defensive stuff but the lack of leg speed is killing him. Cameron Wight played on him and he never got more than a metre clear on the lead. Body language isnt the greatest.

Won't come in this week, as Neagle played well, and Hurley would be the first tall in.

I'd expect either Ryder (depending on fitness - was getting work on his hammies at the end of the game) or Lovett-Murray to come out for Hurley, and that to be the only change.

No other changes bar any injuries picked up at training/injuries from yesterday I haven't heard about.

Skipworth to come in through Bendigo hopefully this week, and be 1-2 weeks away.

Re quinn - he's irish isnt he? Its a common characteristic that the irish struggle with the aerial and overhead skills for a long time as these skills are generally very underdeveloped (probably due to the style of gaelic).

Jack Riewoldt - 6 goals.

It must be very frustrating for tigers fans to watch there struggling AFL players dropped to the VFL have them dominate then come back and have no impact again.
Got rid of him for ROK.

He really fooled me with his decent full pre-season and all.

Note to self, stay away from Tigers players.

Cousins surgery on his hand... didn't know about this at all, was just on 10 news.
happened at the start of the game but he played through it

poor guy can hardly buy a game

Ballentine's injury update anyone? Can't find anything on the freo board other than round 9 speculation.

Might be a chance to return to the WAFL this week.

As he hasn't played in a while, I would guess that he'll play 3-4 games in the WAFL before getting a game with Freo, putting his senior debut around R12/13...

Des Headland looks likely to return this week or next week, depending on how many youngsters Harvey rests.

Ballantyne about 2-3 weeks away from pressing for AFL selection, depending how he performs in the WAFL

Was to be expected though. Foot stress fractures are a very delicate injury, just ask Matty Egan. No point rushing him back, if he will just re-injure it.

Ziebell and Higgins not listed on their club's injury lists, so one can only hope this means they are good to go this weekend!

Dalziell seems to be locked on 6 weeks. I gather the 4 in 4-6 is now a pipedream for DD owners? Anyone know if he's getting better? Or is closer to the 6-12 that was initially suggested?
