This season, the AE will feature on facebook with another avenue to check weekly points update scores/ on the run AE comps/NFL score updates. Along with this thread to keep everyone in the know with summaries of each AE competitions.

3XKO

This next competition is a Knockout format. A three chances contest where you start with selecting 3 teams who you expect to WIN in Week 1.
To qualify for the following week, you must have correctly predicted at least one winner of these three teams. Elimination of the 3XKO contest comes in a process of THREE STRIKES against your name. A X strike counts against your name each time you lose a chance. *Restriction: Cannot pick same selected winning team in back to back weeks.

Default conditions for the 3XKO (pronounced THREE STRIKES KNOCKOUT) comp is that you shall receive the BEST ranked ROAD Teams of that particular week from your (or ESPN) POWER RANKINGS default if you miss out submitting your selections on the official AE website. In the case that you have not selected any Road teams from the POWER RANKINGS default system, you shall receive the best ranked (from) 4th,5th & sixth Home Team of that week. *Bear in mind, the 3XKO consecutive week winning team restriction still applies. In the case of failing to submit your power rankings: you shall default your 3XKO picks.

NEXT DUEL

This competition is purely correlated with the Confidence Rating comp. Your total weekly score is in combat with a scheduled direct opponent in a head to head match up each week for the first 12 weeks.

60 participants: TWO Divisions: John Madden & Vince Lombardi (as nominated by Danielz_23)
Five divisions of SIX in each conference.

The structure of the schedule is based on matching up once against each division opponent (5), at least one match up vs other division opponent within the same conference (5) and two opponents in the other division (2).

This season will a play-off series for each conference meaning 5 Division Winners (from each conference) qualify automatically. They each receive a Week 13 bye. THREE Wildcards from each conference will progress from the Wildcard Qualification Elimination Round. (Week 13).

WildCard Qualification Play-off round has a two tier points handicap process to rank each wildcard qualifier before Week 13 kicks off:
TIER ONE:
4 Points for each Divisional opponent Victory, 3 Points for each Conference Opponent Victory and 2 points for each Inter-conference opponent Victory.
Half the respective points for each tied result.

Upon finding the final points RANKING for each calculated victory: This number will determine the WildCard Qualifiers poll position.

TIER TWO: On a scale of 10-1 (points), the contest to accumulate the MOST AE WEEKLY POINTS in Week 13 against your immediate conference WildCard Qualifiers will be awarded the 10 points on a sliding scale down to 1 (if applicable) will determine the total POINTS number amongst each conference Wildcard Qualifier. THREE from EACH Conference Will advance to the ND Play-offs commencing in Week 14.

In the event that the highest of the conference WCQ's have the same weekly CR score, they shall be awarded the same scale points but the following will drop back a number (or two): ie: WCQ3 scores 95 along with WCQ7 as the highest Week 13 CR total, each get 10, next highest will get 8 points... ect..
ie: WCQ9 scores the highest weekly score (amongst the WCQers) then he gets 10, WCQ1, 6,10 each score equal Second Most, they receive 9points but the next highest will get 6. ect.

Add the TIER ONE & TIER TWO points system totals = Final Tally. TOP THREE WCQ SCORERS from each conference advance.

ND WC Qualifier Play-off Tiebreaker Criteria (to determine 20 WC Qualifiers (10 each Conf) for Week 12)
1. Win-loss-tie (percentage) record < Conference > (if applicable)
2. Head to head (if applicable)
3. Win-loss record vs common opponents (if applicable)
4. Strength of Victory (total wins of opponents beaten)
5. Best combined 5 weekly scores total
6. Most 16CR selections correct ..15CR.. ect

Like the real thing...Highest Ranking vs Lowest Ranking... ie: 1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, 3rd vs 6th, 4th vs 5th.

SPREAD GAMES

This is a monthly competition based on FIVE Weekly pre-nominated games which will have it's own special SCORING system not be correlated to any of the other AE comps. Only Four options.

The task is to select the correct SPREAD & the Overs/Overs of the each pre-nominated game. THREE Points will be awarded for correctly predicting the outcome to both the Spread & Overs/Unders result. One Point will be awarded for correctly predicting either of the two options. So you either have 3 points, 1 point or No Points to seize on each SPREAD Game. Maximum weekly score = 15 points.

Winner of the Monthly SPREAD GAMES will deem to have accumulated the most points in that 4 week period.

Spread Games Series 1 Winner: Dirty Bird
Spread Games Series 2 Winner/s: Clash Hendrix & Reacher

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): Discussion & Updates

Awaiting feedback from JD anyday now. :)

Here's something made mention from last years AE discussion board that I also hope that JD can follow thru with in adequate time regards >>> The POWER RANKINGS default system upgrade <<< we must work together as a team to make the AE process run smoothly.

So far SIX AE members including One Rookie have subs confirmed. Let's slay thru the process sooner than later. Thanx.

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): Discussion & Updates

I'm quite sure those who are hanging back... yet to line up... are awaiting the arrival of the defending AE Champ... well, Clash Hendrix is taking it all low key.. makes it #20 on the List.

AE10promo.jpg

Looking to have the registered numbers over 40 by next week. Makes my job easier by August. As most of you are aware I'll be flying out in late August and be back by Week 4. Would appreciate if I can have all AE subs fixed up asap (July). Thanx.

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): Discussion & Updates

Time to get some folk excited out there...

RECAP time: Let's >><<>>><> REWIND ><<><< back to 2008 and follow the journey of Cassius Clay.

3XKO 2008 Flashback

Feel free to add remarks.. for those already PAID UP and READY to go, feel free to push the AE10 promotion envelope with pictures to describe those looking from the outside are missing.

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): DEFAULTS

Certainly will Danielz.

Also JD is putting the POWER RANKINGS default system in place on the AE website for each AE participant which means NO MORE walk-overs in the NEXT DUEL comp and NO MORE lowest score default penalties.

All comps will abide by your 1-32 rankings. Please be aware that it's not the same as the CR system so #1 ranking means your MOST REFERRED TEAM.

How will this adapt to each AE comp if you miss a week?

For the CR / ND comps that are about points accumulation, you will receive the higher sliding scale CR based on your rankings as opposed to the weekly schedule.

ie:

POWER Rankings List
1. New England
2. Baltimore
3. New Orleans
4. Dallas
5. Indianapolis
6. Philadelphia
7. New York Jets
8. Green Bay
9. Cleveland
10. Miami
11. Oakland
12. Pittsburgh
13. Minnesota
14. Arizona
15. Chicago
16. Houston
17. Tennessee
18. Washington
19. San Diego
20. Denver
21. Carolina
22. Atlanta
23. Buffalo
24. Detroit
25. San Francisco
26. Tampa Bay
27. Seattle
28. Kansas City
29. St Louis
30. Cincinnati
31. NY Giants
32. Jacksonville

If you missed out on Week 12: your POWER RANKINGS default of CR would be:

New England 16
Baltimore 15
New Orleans 14
Indianapolis 13
Philadelphia 12
NYJets 11
Green Bay 10
Cleveland 9
Miami 8
Pittsburgh 7
Minnesota 6
Arizona 5
Houston 4
Denver 3
Seattle 2
NY Giants 1

Total score would arise from accumulated points from these selected teams winning.

3XKO teams would apply if applicable: subject to restriction:
The 3 Highest ROAD team/s from your rankings from this example would be:
New England
New Orleans
Philadelphia

Default for the SPREAD GAMES:
Selected CR team from your Power Rankings & OVERS for each game.

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): DEFAULTS

Riggy got perma-banned on BF.
So he cannot participate in AE.

Says who? There are AE participants who barely get online and still get their picks on..we use the AE website for selections afterall. Score updates will be posted on the facebook group. BF is just a forum for discussion. I've left Riggy a final chance to state whether he remains in and use fb as his avenue of communication or be done with it. It's quite a simple equation.

How did he manage that? and can't he just sign up an alias?

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): Discussion & Updates

Be careful what you say Woodson.
Remember that this competition has been run under the BF heading for 3 or 4 years now. There's no use in getting 1 player back if it's going to lose the exposure that BF gets.

LOL lets just say that the username Jags and assassins served that very purpose for me last season. :D

Only for 3 weeks wasn't it? Oh well he deserved it ;)

How did he manage that? and can't he just sign up an alias?

He was posting shit on the Port board after FF told the crows supporters to come in and be respectful.

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): Discussion & Updates

Think it may be a little too tough for me this season Woody. I' actually not sure when I will be back in Australia at all so how often I will be on the net and what not makes it all a little hard.

However I will more than likely be back the season after to try and go a few better than the last couple of seasons. Enjoy guys.

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): 2009 3XKO Flashback

3XKORedragger2009.jpg

Here's a Flashback to the 2009 3XKO Story and how it all unfolded...

Week 1:

Monday Fright Night Football
AP09091501512--nfl_large_590_Unlimited.jpg

Baptism of Fire #1 ...With the game on the line, the Chargers needed someone to stand up against the Raiders. Darren Sproles accumulated 246 total yards including the game winning TD (SD 24 Oak 20) in the last minute.

Another baptism of fire by the revved up Buffalo Bills gave the AE matador more than he bargained for on MNF with the Patriots under the pump, trailing by 12pts with over 2 minutes remaining. Following a rally by the Pats to have Tom Brady connect with TE Ben Watson to pull the Pats closer 24-19, a costly error by the Bills Leodis McKelvin chose to bring the ball out of the end zone and fumbled. The turnover gave New England great field position at Buffalo's 31-yard line that led to its winning touchdown with 50 seconds remaining. Patriots snatch win 25-24.

Saints had earlier WON over the Lions 45-27.

Week 2:
Three tight games tested Redragger's nerve as the Redskins survived a late Rams fightback to win 9-7.

chris-horton.jpg

Chris Horton proving to the saviour on not one occasion but TWO BIG Plays that denied the Rams.

Falcons deny late Panthers rally. Atlanta 28-20 win.

Despite Chris Johnson having a Big Day Out, 3 TD's, 284 yards from scrimmage, it wasn't enough for the Titans to overcome the high octane Texans passing game to cost Redragger's first X. 0-2 Titans lose another close game, 31-34.

Week 3:

A No Stress week as the Ravens smash the Browns 34-3 and the Giants shut out the Buccs, 24-0.

Week 4:

A second consecutive week of NO BULL.. Bears take care of business over the Lions, 48-24. The Niners shut the Rams out, 35-0.

Week 5:

No sweat raised for a third consecutive week thanx to the Eagles bouncing the Buccs 33-14 while the Giants clean the Raiders clock with
an emphatic 44-7 demolition.

Week 6:
610x.jpg

Psycho Ward getting it done. 8 catches for a lazy 159 yards and a TD.

Steelers inflicting their dominance on the Browns, winning 27-13.

With an injury depleted D for the Bills, starter QB Edwards knocked out also the Bills being the most penalised team, Redragger had every reason to be grinning ear to ear when Jets led 13-3 @ HT but nobody told the 3XKO deal to Bills rookie Jairus Byrd, as he had snared 2 Interceptions in the second half to give the Bills hope.

Suddenly, multiple penalties & turnovers by the Jets put the momentum back with the Bills but Lindell had missed a 46 yarder at the end of regulation force OT.

That smug smile was instantly wiped from Redragger's face when Bills kicker Rian Lindell nailed a 47-yard field goal in overtime to halt Buffalo's three-game skid. Jets spluttering 16-13 loss, every reason to infuriate Redragger. Now XX. Yikes!!

Week 7:

Seeing RED from last week, it made sense to AE's 'Ragger to dial up for Special Forces. London Calling.
1185792717_5_Eye.jpg
+
london.jpg

Buckingham Brady & Belichick answer the call. = Patriots Win Big. 35-7 over the Buccs.

Week 8:

Impressed with Sproles early season game vs the Raiders, Redragger dialed up the Chargers and they responded with a 24-16 victory over Oakland.

Week 9:

Five First Half Sacks of the Soup QB.. Jason Campbell, went a long way in securing a comfortable Falcons 31-17 win.

Re: Armchair Endzone (2010): 3XKO Flashback 2009

Week 10:

Detecting a bunny team, Redragger decided to feast on the Buccs again. Despite the Dolphins being in a 4 game slump.
Overdue for a Win????
Or maybe another LOSS because that's what it looked like when Cadillac Williams ran in a go-ahead touchdown run with 1:14 left.

Panic Stations? Nah. Redragger pulls the cape over and with 10 seconds remaining on the clock, the reliable Dan Carpenter nails the crucial game winning FG to lift the Dolphins 25-23 in a close call.

carpenternailfgvstb.jpg

"oh man, Redragger will Love ya forever man..."
NFL.com Week 10 Buccs@Miami recap

Week 11:

Dissed by the JETS inflicting his second X back in Week 6, Redragger found pleasure in the Patriots 31-14 sweet victory over their division rivals.

Wes Welker keeps the Jets grounded with 192 yards on 15 catches.
wes-welker-patriots-jets-b986e4e1d7dac239_large.jpg

"from me.. err, no, from Redragger to YOU....take that you punk b*tch"

Week 12:

Feeling like the Spanish Cowboy in his "traje de luces" (Matador costume), it's only fitting that Redragger chooses to feast on the Raiders for Thanksgiving as the Cowboys strangle the Raiders in the end. 27-7.

Week 13:

A six game losing streak by the 1-10 Browns wasn't going to spook Redragger for an upset result as he put his faith in the 8-3 Chargers to go on the road
to get the job done and it they did despite the Browns getting 16 last quarter points. Chargers prevail 30-23.

Week 14:
With 13 still in the running for the 3XKO title, a special sanction was imposed for the challengers to select TWO TEAMS. (fingers crossed for a Wrecking Ball ;))

Redragger along EIGHT OTHERS elected to claim the 6-6 Ravens who TORE a NEW ONE in 2-10 Lions with a 48-3 shellacking.

Three OTHERS also selected the Patriots, who won 20-10 over the Black Cats.

NO WRECKING BALL eventuated. :(

However the one Casualty from the 3XKO in week 14 was noteworthy.

Rory was in the USA at the time, Cleveland to be exact, and what better way to put the "Kabosh" on the Steelers was to take them as his 3XKO
pick (stupid man ;)). In sub degree freezing temperatures where Rory's Icy Beer wasn't one of his enjoyable, he made up with the 3XKO elimination by buying one of the "Only Bitches wave Terrible Towels' T-shirts.

Here is Rory (on the right) after the gleeful purchase of those 'wear once in your lifetime' t-shirts. source: facebook. :p

RoryPittCleve.jpg

Funny how karma works in funny ways Rory.. Pats humbled in 2010 by the Browns. :p

Week 15:

With 12 survivors still in the hunt for the 3XKO title, another week a TWO TEAM SELECT Sanction was imposed. (fingers crossed again for a WRECKING BALL!!!)

With 7 teams chosen among the 11 ONE LIFE Challengers, something had to give, right?

YOU BETCHA!! :thumbsu:

Raiders_Bucs2009.jpg

The much maligned Jamarcus Russell hooked up with Chaz Schilens with 39 seconds left on the on the clock @ Mile High to stun the Broncos 20-19, but more importantly ELIMINATE a bunch out of 3XKO. :thumbsu: :eek:
inflictingpain.jpg

NFL.com Week 15 Raiders @ Broncos recap

Camsmith - Chris25 - Clash Hendrix - Crowman_23 - Dspeed - Matt 897 - McGarnacle - Showbag and Wizard... ALL GAWN!!! :p

Redragger, the Broncos fan we all gather?? was too wise to get sucked in. Smart man.

And with NINE WIPED out in one single swipe.. that left 3 but GUESS WHAt??

ANOTHER ONE BITES the DUST.. courtesy of the Buccs dismantling the Seahawks 24-7 meaning Arakaan gets the CHOP!!

Redragger needed ARIZONA @ Detriot PLUS the EAGLES playing at home to curb the Niners.

And it wasn't all safe and secure in Detroit until the Lions back up QB Stanton failed to complete a fourth down to preserve the Cardinals 27-24 victory.

Desean Jackson had 140 yards receiving to play a significant role in the Eagles 27-13 win over the Niners.

deseanjacksonwk15niners.jpg

"....yeee-ha, we're going to the play-offs and Redraggers gonna remember me for being his favourite Eagle!!..."

So after an uneventful Week 16 in which of both of the last TWO 3XKO survivors claimed
victories, it was time to roll out the red carpet for 3XKO SHOWDOWN II.

Week 17:

With the 8-7 Broncos needing to WIN (@Home!!) to remotely stay alive in the Wildcard chase, against the 4-12 Chiefs... it was another capitulation as the Chiefs routed the Broncos 44-24, not that it bothered Broncos fan, Redragger, in the slightest.

The REAL drama of Showdown II concerned the Patriots @ Texans.
With The 10-5 Pats already the AFC East Division Champ, it was a Wildcard mathematical possibility for the Texans to sneak in and with the Pats leading by 14 pts in the fourth quarter, the Texans stepped up the ante at home to rally to pile on 21 unanswered points for a 34-27 memorable victory. That was the CLUTCH decider in the Showdown.

Also, Redragger needed some TITANS D to come up BIG in the last two minutes as the Seahawks were facing a 4th & 9 with 1.19 remaining, trailing 13-17.
Thanx to Gerald McRath, Hasselback got picked off at the Titans 21 to seal the win.

For Wolfmother, the 7-8 Niners accounted for the 1-14 Rams with an easy 28-6 win.
Likewise the Panthers, winning 23-10, against the depleted #1 seed 13-2 New Orleans Saints with nothing to play for.

With the Jets needing to WIN on SNF to clinch the final play-off spot against the already secured AFC North Division Champs, Cincinnati. It was a NO BRAINER first team pick by REDRAGGER who basically clinched the 3XKO Title beforehand with tie-breakers in his favour to unlock the 3-3 TIE.
The Jets whitewash 37-0 shutout just rubbed salt in Wolfmother's wounds as his beloved "Tanking" 14-1 Colts who had the first round Bye clinched. A depleted Colts were no contest Buffalo, relatively killing any hope for Wolfmother as his First & Third picks.

Even though the Cardinals got embarrassed, 33-7, in a dead rubber game against the Packers, that was the only loss for Redragger. the Vikings were always safe with a comprehensive 44-7 hammering of the defending SB champs, Giants who missed the play-offs with a lacklustre 8-8 record.

4-3 Showdown final tally.
