Rumour 2010 Sydney Swans Trading Discussion (Part 2)

Going back on topic, do you think Veszpremi is a fair trade for Everitt?

I would love your thoughts on Andrejs Everitt? Do you watch much of the Bulldogs?

It's a WIN/WIN for both clubs. Both players get fresh starts and each club gets a potential star for the future.

IMO Everitt could be an absolute gun although Vezs could be too but there's more doubt with that.

I'd do Vespa for Everitt in a heartbeat. I'm a big fan of Vespa, but I'm also a big fan of Everitt, and a young, tall, talented utility who can play KP (not that he's ever allowed to), midfield/flanker, and even ruck in a pinch, is a very handy thing to have. Brent Staker showed his value for Brisbane this year, and Everitt has a lot more going for him than Staker. He has suffered from being on the wrong end of Eade's favourites game, being a regular performer at VFL level and always showing a bit when he's given senior games, but never cementing a spot.

He can take a contested mark, he can run, he can jump, he can kick, and he's fit. I'd like to keep Vespa, but if Everitt is on his way to Sydney already, then that's bloody good news.

For the record, I would prefer to keep Veszpremi, but if a trade happens, I would rather the Swans deal with the Bulldogs, so we can get Everitt or deal with Essendon, so we can get Bachar Houli.

I have to confess I'm very meh on Houli, not sold on him at all. What is it about him that makes you think he'd improve our side? Not having a go at you, just haven't been impressed whenever I've seen him play.

Everitt for Veszpremi is okay, though I'd rather we persist with Vez.

Like Everitt, Houli's not giving a proper go. He does have talent and rakes up a lot of disposals. He isn't the cleanest user of the ball though, but like Kennedy has a bit of grunt. I just think we could use another midfielder and one that rakes up disposals. I think we can turn him into a decent player. I think he could be wasted at Richmond.

Name one midfielder with excellent skills that are on the trading table this year, that we are linked to? I cannot think of one myself. Bachar Houli would go alright but most likely will be heading to Richmond, which would be a shame, could be anything in a good side.

Vez for Everitt....Thursfield for Barlow and 3rd Rounder? I'd be ok with this, but our first two picks should be untouchable IMO.

Houli couldnt run out of sight in a London Fog.He buthchers the ball by both hand and foot and Kennedy has yards on him in strength and size. You seem to forget Craig Bird has to come back into this side and Meredith will still amount to a very good midfielder.Hanneberry will also move into the midfield and regardless of if it happens or not Sherman would be more appealing to what the club needs as far as midfielders go than Houli.Let Houli go to St Kilda and battle it out with hacks like Clint Jones for a midfield spot.Swans dont need him.

Mate, you don't trade for trades sake. Houli while I rate him as a player is not the sort of person we need.

Sydney should definitely chase Everitt. He will be a gun. Leave Houli alone i say and if we can fit Sherman in i think he would be extremely dangerous on the SCG. But please dont trade our first 2 draft picks. They are like gold.

I'm just going to put it out there... draft picks are overrated unless you have elite recruiting staff. Last year's brilliance of our recruiters in the draft has made me reassess my view on our recruiters but unless you feel confident you have found a player who you are certain will be a gem then you should trade draft picks because you can easily get better in return and it is safer.

Houli ain't gonna happen. I don't mind him as a player and he has been definitely undervalued by Knights at the Bombers but I'm willing to put money down that he will either stay at Essendon or move to Richmond.

Everitt as I've said, I'm a bit indifferent to. I've heard from many that he is a star in the making but I just don't see much of a use for him in our side. I wouldn't dislike him being at the Swans though.

Sherman I'm becoming less and less keen on. I don't think he is worth all the excitement that all these clubs are generating over him. Can have very inconsistent disposal but is made to look better because of his fantastic speed. Could be valuable on the SCG but I'd prefer to keep the faith with Vez, Meredith, Rohan. But Longmire and co. seem very very keen on him.

I like the prospect of bringing in Thursfield at the right price and if we can hold on to Vez at the same time that would be great though it is probably likely Vez will be involved in a trade one way or another.

Do you reckon we will have to get rid of Vespa and a second round for Everitt? I would be more than happy to get Everitt for Vespa and a second rounder and Barlow or some shit for Sherman. I am hearing what you are saying but would like to have a couple good picks.

Not sure if you're addressing me or not, but I'll give it a go.

From what I've heard Everitt for Veszpremi as a straight swap is possible. Everitt has played only 36 games and Vez has played barely 10 so they are both very inexperienced at AFL level. Neither have played more than 12 games in one season. Both 21 years old. Big wraps on both of them, yet to deliver but most think they will still become very accomplished players. Vez and a 2nd rounder for Everitt is a very good deal for the Dogs, that's paying overs for Everitt IMO.

Barlow at this point is nothing more than physical attributes in a deal. In that he has shown pretty much nothing at AFL level and any club that takes him on will be looking at his physical measurements and decide to take him on. The way Voss traded last year, who knows, he might jump at a 100kg 196cm athlete who can run like the wind. Brisbane would want something more than a 2nd rounder for Sherman I would think but also something more than Barlow in addition to said draft pick.

I reckon Barlow will be traded to a club for a 5th-6th rounder which we won't use. I think the Swans will do their best to find him a new home in trade week and won't play hard ball to get something in return. Barlow carries no currency, he is barely even a sweetener.

No he can't.

Andrejs gets murdered when playing in a KP role or even as a 3rd tall (especially in defence), and while his efforts in these roles may improve with age & experience he has some bad habits which seem to be ingrained into his playing style.

He is your classic 'in-betweener' (Good show BTW) and whilst having some exciting traits just frustrates the shit out of you.

I've said it before and I'll just re-iterate it here. This means that there will be less rotations per game and the trend now will be to go for endurance athletes instead of power athletes. This doesn't bode well for guys like Veszpremi who already have a question over their endurance.

Could also mean that Barlow is given the chance to become the dominant force we all know he will be.
