Re: Round 18 Captain

It's not a matter of Pendlebury being out. It's a matter of him being designated as a sub.

I have zero concern over him being a sub. To quote Clunk's list of uninjured premiums being the sub or being subbed off, "". If he's not up to a full game or they decide he needs a rest the Pies will just cotton wool him and bring in an emergency. The only way he'll end up being involved with the sub is if he plays and then aggravates or otherwise suffers an injury, the same as any other player.

Talking sense :thumbsu:

Re: Round 18 Captain

There is a chance his shoulder will be sore from another bump, and if Collingwood are 50 up, why would you risk him? Malthouse has flagged the possibility of starting some of the better players as subs. It's possible. I don't think it's necessarily likely, but it's all about choosing the best option taking into account the risks. I'm happy I went with NDS.

Re: Round 18 Captain

Went with Montagna captain as a POD, happy with his 129 unless Swan or Pendles get over 150+.

Re: Round 18 Captain

Well, you do what you want mate.
But I only have 2 cats in my team(jim being one) and Jimmy has never been skipper this year. And never will be.
Something is not right.

As I posted in the Geelong thread it may be a role change. But all of his contested work numbers are down this year. Including tackles and frees for and against.

And his kicking is still off. He never used to miss targets like he is.

Food for thought anyway.

You are a legend mate. Took it off Bartel because I assumed you would be correct about his role change watching him more, and put it onto Buddy.

Buddy - 132 (264)
Barel - 95

edit: Bartel has been captain once for me this season, in round 3 vs Port. Got 159 (318) so still hasn't let me down as C...

Re: Round 18 Captain

Pendles (c) and NDS (vc) for me.

Pendles did exactly what was expected and wasn't subbed so can't complain there.

Round 19 Captain

No league games this week so could be the week to take a bit of a risk to pick up a few points overall.

Pendles' consistency this year and his recent form against the Bombers is hard to ignore but boy is NDS making a real strong case.

Up against GC and their non tagging midfield his last 5 scores are 158, 107, 174, 139 and 134 at a lazy 142pt average

Re: Round 19 Captain

Tossing up between Pendles and NDS. The only negative going with NDS is the spread of high scores against Gold Coast that will usually reduce a massive score by an individual player. It is a guaranteed 100+ though.

Re: Round 19 Captain

As above, toss up between Pendles and Dal, most likely going to go pendles, dal is due for a quiet game, not a bad game but I'm guessing no'one get huge scores saints-gold coast game.

Re: Round 19 Captain

Went goddard last week and was disapointed with a couple of quiet quarters. Crows just couldnt get it forward where he was lurking.

He could definately chop it up vs GC but could be more of the same again.

Picked Pendles here but not with any great confidence.

Re: Round 19 Captain

Thompson in a fired up Showdown could be a massive bolter for a coach with balls of steel.

Re: Round 19 Captain

seeing as its a non league game thinking about going a unique option such as cox or goddard, but will most likely go pendles

Re: Round 19 Captain

Voted Pendles but am thinking of a super unique choice tot ry and make ground on the top 100. Thing is, who? Marc Murphy springs to mind...

Re: Round 19 Captain

Jimmy Bartel THIS week.

Trying to take risks to cover ground, this week I could have Cross, RMurphy, NRiewoldt, Goodes, Adcock, Deledio + some crappy rookie pick ups such as Callinan, Pitt and Wallis out.

Re: Round 19 Captain

I went with Judd. I almost talked myself into picking him last week, but went with Swan in the end

I still think Pendlebury is a risk of eing subbed out esp if Collingwood is dominating early on. It wouldn't surprise me if he was in line for a short game last week, but plans had to change due to Thomas' injury.

That said, I am going to have a pretty shocking week this week due to byes (I have x6 starters on the bench from last week, who scored 661 points between them) and Fisher also possibly out with injury, so I am not too fussed this week.

Re: Round 19 Captain

Five way go and cant decide:

  • Pendleberries vs a disabled bombers
  • Swan vs a disabled bombers
  • Goddard against the kids
  • Dal Santa clause vs the kids
  • Judd because he is the messiah!

Really thinking of going high risk with Dal Santo at this stage! I say high risk because at times he can be tagged out of games...but i'm thinking maybe GC will go Ablett v Santo head to head! If this did happen I could see Dal scoring 200!

As per usual, I'll dig out my dungeons and dragon dice and let fate decide!

1-4 Pendleberry
5-7 Swan
8-11 Goddard
12-13 Judd
14-20 Dal Santa clause

Just fixed that up for you. I'll be going Gazza myself, is yet to disappoint as Captain with the exception of that game where he was subbed off.

Re: Round 19 Captain

A unique option could be Petrie. May dominate a thin Carlton defence however I'm certainly not brave enough and I'm going with Pendles.
