Re: 2011 Official Trade/Delisting Discussion Thread [Part 2]

hey so my teacher reckons essendon could get trengove from port for jetta & ricky dyson

Is this even a chance? lol thought we would have to give a 1st rounder too.

With Carlisle coming through it seems a bit pointless but that would be a bargain

Would not even contemplate that Trade. Jetta is Paddy s best mate and is starting to become a very valuable player for us. Trengove is ok but no need for him at Essendon.

Re: 2011 Official Trade/Delisting Discussion Thread [Part 3]

I believe that Mckenzie would be a perfect fit for our midfield - Outside running player with a booming kick.

Don't have to get him this time - Making contact and expressing our interest - means that we can get him next time.

Would give up our first rounder and more.

I would Give one nut and the mrs to get that boy at the club

Re: 2011 Official Trade/Delisting Discussion Thread [Part 3]

Williams and Daniher make two delistings. Slattery may be gone, if he's not contracted, and Welsh could pull the pin. I wouldn't bother having too many picks in this draft. 2 picks plus a rookie elevation (Crameri) is plenty, while saving a pick for the PSD.

Re: 2011 Official Trade/Delisting Discussion Thread [Part 3]

thoughts on john butcher. victorian boy at port adelaide who debuted on the weekend. can seriously play, only doubts on his goal kicking.

Would you take Kane Cornes at the Bombers?

If the rumours are true on Kane Cornes being told he is no longer a required player at Port, he may be seeking a trade at the end of this year. What are your thoughts on Kane? Would you see him able to fit into the Bombers? What role would he play? Who could he free up? Do you want him, or is it a big, fat, NO?

Personally; he is still at a good age of 28 and has a few years in him. At best, he is one of the best taggers in the competition. He could slot into our midfield, take the oppositions best player and free up the likes of Howlett, but more so Hocking to play as the damaging, attacking midfielder that we so desperately need.

I'm not 100% sold on the idea, but what does everyone else think of the idea?

Re: Would you take Kane Cornes at the Bombers?

The problem with professional taggers is their job is becoming irrelevant due to the presses and "structures" (geez I hate that word) that sides are employing these days. I respect his talent and he is a quality player but I would say "NO" because we already have a few blokes who can handle those duties when required.

Re: Would you take Kane Cornes at the Bombers?

OP must have overlooked the dedicated thread for all trade talk.

And on the subject of Cornes. Yeah why not, It's not like we don't already have an abundence of one paced midfielders with average disposal and limited nummber of tricks. Lets get another one.

Re: Would you take Kane Cornes at the Bombers?

Massive gap between his best and worst though.

Which can be rectified.

He's been much better under Bickley, but then so have the rest of them.

Re: Would you take Kane Cornes at the Bombers?

I like his best a lot and I agree with your point but do we need another "work in progress" mid and should we trade for one?

Re: Would you take Kane Cornes at the Bombers?

This, essentially.
Not at all.

Hocking provides a hell of a lot more attacking wise than Kornes. The only problem is that Hocking is the best tagger in our side.

Getting Kornes would release Hocking and he would become a much more attacking and damaging player. This is the kind of low risk move we should be looking at. Kornes will come cheap and he would have a massive point to prove to the Port Adelaide football club.

Re: 2011 Official Trade/Delisting Discussion Thread [Part 3]

No interest in K.Cornes.

Think he needs to re-invent himself as a small defender - Has the skills set to play this position.

Limited future for him in the midfield.

Re: 2011 Official Trade/Delisting Discussion Thread [Part 3]

To those that think getting Cornes is a good idea, I seriously hope you never EVER pay out Stanton for his disposal.

Cornes is a 1 trick pony and that has been proven at Port this year. They have tried him at half back and he was so inept there that he got dropped to the SANFL. He is a tagger or nothing, and a tagger with questionable disposal at that. Pass.

Re: 2011 Official Trade/Delisting Discussion Thread [Part 3]

Seriously guys wanting Kornes is just laughable, we have enough players who are just like him in Welsh and Slattery and even then everyone doesn't want them in the team so why would we go get the exact same player?
