They came last of the three options in the poll, which didn't include NN and Cox for some reason.

Plus, only 84 people voted, so hardly a great sample size.

I don't think the internet was ready for the meltdown that would have ensued if they included Naita and Cox. :thumbsu:

Most neutrals would rate hmac and goldy as the best ruck combo in the afl. There was a thread a month ago about best ruck duos and norths polled 2nd behind ryder and hille. Was very close poll and i think when you factor hilles age, north have the advantage

Yes you do have homeground advantage but we have advantages all over the ground including the rucks imo

Why didn`t anyone tell me about that poll i didn`t even vote ,can you get one of your norf supporters to poll it again ,as i don`t want to miss out this time.

i feel important talking to so many mods at once, anyway going to bed its past 1am over here, will continue the disscussion tommorow

but, we were having such a nice chat.....:(

On that Poll about ruck combo's;
How do you know neutrals voted on that? Because the Naitanui v Kreuzer is a Carlton v WCE mostly.
If Essendon have the best ruck combo then I don't know about that poll. NicNat usually beats Ryder and I would still prefer Cox over Hille.

lol i love how you have no reasons to back up eagles winning. Let's look at it factually eagels won the wooden spoon in 2010, north missed finals on percentage withour petrie, ziebell and anthony

Petrie Ziebell and Anthony is a pretty thin injury list in reality

Ziebell and Anthony have only played around 20 games each so far and Petrie is a good player but hardly a star.

In the Round 21 game last year West Coast were missing experienced players in Kerr, Glass, Butler, Priddis and Selwood with the average age age of the Eagles side being 22 years 199 days compared to Norths 24 years 101 days

Yet Norths only overtook the Eagles halfway through the last quarter.

So considering it is a home game and with the expectation that the Eagles will be playing a much more experienced side than the last time the teams met you could make a reasonable case for West coast

In terms of the ruck argument

In Round 21

Cox had 28
Nic Nat 19
Hale 12
McIntosh 11

In Round 3

Cox 27
McIntosh 15
Goldstien 14
Nic Nat 12

what you just said makes no sense. In reality we have 1 more runner than you. Because in the first half you will have 2 ruck but we will have 1 thus NORTH have the extra runner in the first half then it becomes even again once HMAC comes on

What you said also makes no sense.

You swap a runner for a underdone ruck. Eagles swap a runner with a fresh runner. You are a runner down in the second half.

Cox this preseason is running at the front of the group, last year he wasn't even running yet. Cox when fit has been described as an extra midfielder due to his running capacity.

Naitanui is more an explosive clearance ruckman. He either taps it first time, second time or with third efforts to advantage. Or he just plays volleyball with himself, gathers the ball and runs away from everyone.:D

Playing only 1 ruck against Cox and NN is a huge risk and I'd imagine will be the biggest issue oppositions coaches will discuss / plan for every week.

How old is Goldstien by the way?

At their injury free best. Cox and Nat i think by a little. I'm not much of a McIntosh fan tbh, finds the ball well, but doesn't seem too damaging and doesn't have the impact or generate the momentum of his understudy.

I do love Goldstein, has an impact on the contest, can kick a goal and does the 1%ers and tackles far more than HMac....Just has a presence Hamish lacks imo. Better than Kreuzer imo.

I think if Cox is over his injury probs and is motivated he can reclaim his best ruck in comp title. Similar style to Hamish but on another level when free of injury....Which he is now (touch wood).

Nic Nat is similar to Goldstein in style. More inside, does the hard stuff (contested ball, tackles, blocking and clearing of the contest etc) better than most. Good tap touch/placement already.

Both teams have two contrasting rucks that complement each other....I just think an injury free Cox and a more experienced and fresh Nat will have it over them at Subi. As for the polls, I'd say the majority on here are Vic and that Interstate teams are out of sight out of mind in a way, plus we came last so automatically everything us is shit atm.

Goldstein is 22 iirc.

the reason why i think scott will use the sub rule in that manner is so HMAC will only have to play a half because he has been injured for the last 2 weeks and will not run for another 2 weeks so he will have a month less of pre-season. Thus Hmac to be sub so fitness isn't an issue

I really hope Hmac plays because playing an underdone player at AFL level especially in the engine room is not a good option. Even as a sub he still needs a decent fitness base to be effective and that just isn't going to be the case come round 1.

Risking Petrie in the ruck is a big risk round 1 as well. He's an important player and he's coming back from two foot stress fracture type injuries.

More than happy to have Scott with these sort of headaches. Having your #1 FB in Gimes and one of your good mids in Bastanic also out also helps swing the odds towards an Eagles win.

you dont want Lecras in 2012?
would be good to have darling starting in the forward line instead of neates or hams by then

****...

Shall be edited. Neates out, Lecca in. I don't expect Darling to be that ready this time next year.

If Darling learns to play as a small nimble forward in the next 12 months then sure. Otherwise he's competing for a KPP position IMO.

I know some people rate him through the middle. At best i can see him working of a forward flank, competition for a position in that area of the ground will be immense.

Hams Darling Lecras

Naitanui, Masten, Shuey

Int- Lycett, Stevens, S Selwood, Ebert, Swift

This team in 2 years i believe would be capable of a top 4 finish. With the oldest players being 26/27 years

Out of curiosity who will the eagles tag:

will it be 1.Wells-the most skilled and exciting player on our list and peak condition.

2. Liam Anthony-Ball magnet, great link player who never stops running

3. Andrew Swallow- BnF winner in 09 and runner up in 10, tackling machine, gets majority of the clearences and kicks goals

4.Boomer harvey- The captain and best player on our list. 300+ games experience and still hungry for success

5. Jack Ziebell- The young gun, slashed 30secs off his 3km time trial and is a very complete package at only 19 years of age

i assume the eagles only have one tagger and will tag one of the above so who will it be?

I assume Wells will be a set up player from the back flank ?

Harvey will probably get the major tag through the middle since he destroyed us last year, although most teams these days dont have one goto tagger we have seen from the past but a number of guys who can play offensive / defensive rolls, Strijk will probably get Wells and Scott Selwood will probably take Boomer with other players keeping a very close eye on Swallow, but yeah players get rotated to different parts of the ground all the time,

We got richardson to set up from hbf along with rawlings and firrito so wells won't play on the back flank. Wells will play on the wing ala stephen hill
He hasn't shown to date that he has Hill's engine
