FB: Butler Schofield A Selwood
HB: Hurn Mackenzie Sheppard
C: A Krakour Masten L Jetta
HF: J Hill, Kennedy Strijk
FF: Hams Wilson Lecras
Ruck: Cox, Kerr, Shuey

IC: Natanui, Ebert, Waters, S Selwood

Emg: Stevens, Priddis, Brown, Swift

Assumed Glass won't be ready, if he is then Schofield out and Glass in. We aways seem to play 3 tall backs but I'd rather play a Waters / A Selwood.

Geez, if we can get our injuries sorted we start having a bit of depth.:):thumbsu:

NN - Scooter - Kerr

Cox Masten Embley Ebert

Experienced in defence, skilled through the middle, speedy in the forward line... i like it

I have a feeling Woosha won't play our number 4 draft pick in round 1.

FB: Butler Glass Waters
HB: Hurn Mackenzie Sheppard
C: Rosa Priddis A.Selwood
HF: Strijk Kennedy Embley
FF: LeCras Wilson(Lynch?) Shuey
Foll: Cox Kerr S.Selwood
I/C: NN, Masten, Ebert SUB:???

That's the team that I reckon will be something like the one Woosha fields.. but one I'd like to see:

FB: Butler Glass A.Selwood
HB: Hurn Mackenzie Waters
C: Sheppard Kerr Rosa
HF: Embley Kennedy Strijk
FF: LeCras Wilson Hams
Foll: Cox Masten Shuey
I/C: Naitanui Ebert S.Selwood Swift/Stevenson/Pick4

Embley and Strijk could rotate through the middle as well, maybe LeCras.

no love for heppell? but even if heppell was up there i'd still pick option 1 and swap A Selwood to Waters

C: Masten - Priddis - Shuey**

HF: Strijk** - Kennedy - Hams

FF: Natanui - Wilson - LeCras

1R: Cox - Kerr - Adam Selwood

INT: Rosa - Sheppard - Embley - SUB

Hurn - Shuey - Strijk can play switcharoos a bit. Wouldnt play Shuey off a HBF but. Just like i wouldnt want to put Hurn HFF

One who i'd love to see get early opportunities if Hams isnt firing is Neates. Hams deserves the start. For a smaller player he definately is solid. Neates the nipper of the two and could slide under the radar a bit more than Hams would. Had a good year with Claremont

Masten and Shuey on the wings??? WTF! They're grunts. While Shuey has the utility to be rotated into other positions on the field, Masten doesn't. Shuey rotates to a flank or a pocket or wherever the resting rotational midfielder is positioned. Masten should only be playing on the ball. When not on the ball, Masten should be resting on the bench. Masten's like Priddis in that he can only play in 1 position effectively. Masten would be as effective as he was as a FP/HFF as he would be on a wing.

Priddis and A.Spudwood starting in the centre square is the continuation of our past few years of epic fail.

Hams, as has been noted in a different thread, isn't eligible to play in round 1 due to the veteran listing of Cox and Glass.

As much as some may not want or like Rosa being a starting Wingman, it's a certainty that he'll be there come round 1, barring injury.

Agree, as much as we dislike it it is a near certainty that A. Selwood and Priddis will start Round 1.

With the interchange being limited to 3 and many clubs adopting a Collingwood-esque game style a 3rd tall KPD is not necessary.

We should focus on a hard running game style to suit Subi.

Bold are the players I think are a lock.

The 22 I think will line up Round 1:
Waters Glass A. Selwood
Butler McKenzie Hurn
Sheppard Priddis Rosa
Strijk Kennedy Embley
LeCras Wilson Neates

Cox Kerr Shuey

Int: NicNat Masten S.Selwood
SUB: Stevens/Pick #4

The 22 that will finish Top 4 in 2012: (out: told old 'mini team' A Selwood, Embley, Priddis, Glass succumbs to injury/form)

Waters McKenzie Butler
Smith Brown Hurn
Sheppard Stevens Pick #4
Strijk Kennedy Weedon
LeCras Wilson Neates

NicNat Swift Shuey

Int: Cox Kerr S.Selwood
SUB: Ebert or Masten

Is Embley the tagger?

I also don't think it's a good idea to have Glass, Ermac, Hobo and Browneye in the 22 together. WC need a midfielder in the place of 1 of those 4, considering the team's inability to run out games in 2010.

This has the big rubber stamp of approval by Woosha.

We must have Hams and Strijk together in round 1 or we will find it really difficult to win.

Now who wants to get injured for 3 months.
Hands up please !!

Shuey will be part of our midfield rotation and be rested in the pocket because he's shown he can kick goals in that position. I don't think anyone sees him as a full-time FP.

Fair enough, but I guess that raises the question, if you're starting Shuey in the FP, as to who plays in the FP for the other 70% or so of the game.

Or is it just a way of getting another mid into the team at the expense of a forward?

I - Good point and it goes some way to explaining why players like Masten were used across HF and FP, because team balance dictates the need for them to be able to be rotated to other parts of the ground and to contribute whilst they are there.

II - Yes and there's many schools of thought on this. My personal preference is to have a team with a settled back six. In other words, as few rotations in the backline as possible: just those required in order to run out the game.

The forwardline, on the other hand, should be made up of as many midfield rotations as possible. I had our forwardline as follows:

HF: Strijk Kennedy Stevens
FF: LeCras Wilson Shuey

So, two KPF's, who can both rotate through FF and CHF and 4 smalls who can all offer a rotation through the midfield.

HB: Butler, McKenzie, Glass
FB: Waters, Brown, Hurn
C: Swift, Priddis, Embley
HF: Strijk, Kennedy, Ebert
FF: Shuey, Wilson, LeCras

Ruck: Naita, Kerr, Masten

Interchange: Cox, Scooter, Sheppard

Sub: Rosa?

Unwrucky: Rosa, Smith, Stevens, Schofield, Hams

Id have Hams in there for most other players but im assuming no injuries.
