Re: 2012 Membership - 4,400 [at 2/2]

The worst thing we can do is compare membership numbers with NRL clubs. They are useless in terms of membership.

You gotta aim high to achieve high.

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,400 [at 2/2]

We've got about a dozen within the footy club who have signed up at Silver Premium or higher, and have all been allocated seats together on request. Doin our bit! We have a potential trial in Nowra on the 24th but I'm hoping to get a bus down and have it drop those keen for the footy back at Homebush, I assume a 7:10pm start?
7:20pm start, perhaps an extra 10mins for a beverage stop on the way to your seats?

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,400 [at 2/2]

From the Giants website yesterday:

There are only 50 days to go until the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS take on the Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium on March 24.

As we count down to this historic event, we want to thank all of our 2012 Members by drawing a prize each and every day from now until March 24.

All 2012 Members will automatically go in to the draw to win a range of exciting prizes including signed GIANTS jumpers, Sherrin footballs, a range of merchandise products, vouchers and much more. We will call each of our winners and post this on our website.

There are loads of prizes to be won in the first week including:

Friday 3 – 1 x GIANTS Guernsey
Saturday 4 – 1 x GIANTS Cap
Sunday 5 – Be the Junior Mascot at a GIANTS home match
Monday 6 – 1 x GIANTS Coffee Mug
Tuesday 7 – Upgrade your Membership to the next level
Wednesday 8 – Win an official GIANTS Supporters Pack (Players polo, Media Cap & Footy)
Thursday 9 – 1 x Yetimo esky and cricket set

Exactly. The only measure is whether the GWS can become competitive in all facets of the game on and off the field.i.e. be successful.

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,400 [at 2/2]

Members scarf arrived at the front doorstep today. Nice enough - and very very orange - but what I'm really waiting for is a traditional-style scarf: orange and black stripes with white GIANTS text on the black.

...at least, I hope there's one of them going to be made!

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,400 [at 2/2]

Was wondering if there has been any specific data come out about which areas the GWS members are coming from in Sydney? Ie Blacktown/ Homebush or other areas are showing a higher signup rate.

Wish the GWS all the best this year, we recently had Kevin Sheedy and the guys from Skoda run a Training session here in Prague. The blokes loved Sheedy great down to earth person who truly loves his footy.

The only info I've seen the club release was on last year's figures, which was about a 50/50 Canberra/non-Canberra split. I figure that'll probably continue this year.

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,400 [at 2/2]

Numbers seem a bit dispoiting. Hoping lots of people are just waiting for some cash to build up in their account before getting membership.

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,635 [at 14/2]

Anyway for the Giants to promote or increase memberships?
I'd say the next two big opportunities to increase memberships (or 'spikes'), which have no doubt been identified by the club, are the NAB Cup at Blacktown this Saturday and then the season opener against the Swans at Homebush.

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,635 [at 14/2]

Does anybody know the figures of what the rugby league clubs which are located in Western Sydney were in regards to total memberships for 2011.
I'm hoping people in that area of Sydney really jump on and support the Giants and send a message to the NRL.

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,635 [at 14/2]

Not sure why the Giants need to 'send a message' to the NRL. Their job is to win games and give their all for whoever chooses to support them. Win games, win respect, stand for excellence and the rest will follow.

The Melbourne Storm have meager attendances and membership in comparison to Victorian AFL clubs. But they are an important part of the NRLs footprint and a respected part of Melbourne's sporting fabric. I bet the AFL would be wrapped if GWS had a similar foothold in their market a decade from now.

Most people on this forum seem pessimistic and downright hostile to the Giants. I'm far less cynical. GWS have done a lot of things right and they will be a successful club in a relatively short time span (even the bad news Brisbane Bears were playing finals football within 8 years.)

History tells us that expansion clubs naturally take time to gel. The Dallas Cowboys were an expansion side once upon a time. In their first year they won no games, had one tie, and averaged home crowds of less than 5000.

Success changes everything.

Re: 2012 Membership - 4,635 [at 14/2]

They must've had a bunch of memberships waiting to be processed, because it's been ticking along at approx. 40/day but then jumped by over 500 overnight?!

Membership Packs / Seat Allocations

Hi All

Has anybody recieved their membership packs / or Seat Allocations as yet ?

I have not as yet

Have been advised by the club they were posted out on Feb 10 and will take upto 10days

Re: Membership Packs / Seat Allocations

I think the club may have changed their plan or something's come up, because the email last week for the Round 1 game said:

As a GIANTS Member your personalised membership card will provide you with entry to this match and access to your own reserved seat. Your membership card will be mailed to you in the next few weeks.

I'm not too stressed, as it's not of any use until the start of the season.

Re: Membership Packs / Seat Allocations

im not overyly stressed either but they emailed me and said they posted out feb 10th

plus paid 1k for memberships would be good to know seat allocations for 1st game and recieve at least something in the mail

Yeah, as I said I'm guessing there's some crossed wires and it might be that they weren't posted out then. You could always give the club a call and double check.

Re: Membership Packs / Seat Allocations

Got mine today. REALLY like the fixture fridge magnet. It's great. Membership card design is a bit basic, but there's an acknowledgement that I'm a foundation member that I like.

Victorian Giant so no idea of seat allocations.

Re: Membership Packs / Seat Allocations

I haven't got my membership either. Foundation members should get some kind of priority.

Re: Membership Packs / Seat Allocations

Agree with that

Also have not recieved anything at all in the mail

Hopefully start of this week
