Hope the Diggers can kick a goal in the Seniors tonight. The other 3 grades failed to kick one.

Reserves - Horsham 213 v United 1
U17's - Horhsam 214 v United 1
U14 - Horsham 82 v United 3

edit:

At least they managed 7 goals for a 149 point drubbing.

Seniors - Horsham 192 v United 43

The SportingPulse website has the United Reserves kicking 1 goal straight. Still a thrashng though.

Just out of curiosty why would Bligh have palyed in the two's for Ararat yesterday. Surely there is a spot for him in there starting 18. They only just got over the line in the ones to didnt they.

Interesting rumor doing the rounds that Horsham have refused to allow their players to play for the Wimmera League this weekend in a snub to John Smith and his constituents after the JB affair.

Yes PP I don't know what the final line up is but from all accounts the Wimmera are struggling to get players and clubs to support the interleague team. The Coaches & selectors were doing the ring around to players who haven't even trained with the squad to see if they were interested. I know of a footballer who is recovering from injury and has played three quarters of football this year who received one such phone call.

The League should fine clubs whos players make themselves unavailable as it is the clubs that are trying to protect their investments in paid players. The Wimmera league is at risk of losing its major league status. We are playing the Mallee who are a minor league and from what I hear about the selected side will most probably lose. Horsham Football Club have won the last 9 flags and have a mass of young talent, if none of Horshams players play it will be an absolute disgrace and they should not get away with it.

Have heard this also. Quite pathetic on their behalf, just as their banner on grand final day last year had do it for barny and jordy or something along those lines...barny had the knee injury so fair enough but jb was simply only ever made accountable for his cowardly actions behind play-and not by John Smith by the VCFL.

It is old news but seriously Horsham didnt ever try and win the case on facts and what happened, only technicalities. Luckily the truth came out and some minor justice of sorts was served...dont know if jones has returned to a football field yet or can even eat properly with what was supposed to be several surgeries on his jaw. JB very lucky this case didnt go to acivil court.

Did anyone on here make an interleague team?

I made the under 14 team and I'm starting on the half back flank, pretty stoked to make the team. It's the first time they have had a fourteens interleague team for about 20 years.

Strange post PP

Adlington & Thomson are in the side. Hartigan I think is subject to a fitness test and Duncan is also on a interchange to be slected from. Pekin has a broken collar bone, so unless you expect him to play, how many more do you want?

Jordyn Burke has even been training with the squad, but as talented as he may be, how do you pick a guy who has not played for the year?

If anyone has a reason to boycott it would be Burke for the lengths Smith went to last year to ensure he was found guilty, which fails the seperation of powers test.

The Malle League may be considered a minor league in the VCFL's (System) eyes but they are a league that is extremly tough and full of pride and will give 110% to win and should not be under estimated.

So can we take it that Wimmeras loss can be attributed to lack of Horsham F.C participants? Mallee can never be underestimated, good victory ,congrats.

Will be interesting to see if those slagging of on here making up rumors have the balls to come out now and say they were completely of the mark and withdraw their comments.

I never mind opinions but when people make up bullshit stories it simply demeans themselves.

I would ask where were the Schultz boys, where was Skuzza. Some of the names in the Wimmera team I have never heard of.

Maybe the commission should shoulder some of the blame here. When was the last time they made a distribution to the clubs? The commission hijacked the Toohey Medal count which the clubs use to profit from and now pocket those proceeds themselves.

They have starved the clubs of money and we now have a shortage of big name players in the league. I see the commissioners dont seem to go without. Wearing their jackets etc and wining and dining at clubs expense.

I'd heard the Horsham rumor from 3 different people on Thursday Slenko before team selection. I was just putting it out there. Apologies if l upset anyone. What were the scores, best players etc.

Mallee- 16.11-107
Wimmera- 9.13--67

Disgraceful performance from the Wimmera, just couldn't play as a team at all.

On another note how did Steve Cameron end up as the Wimmera's best player? I must've been watching another game as he got destroyed by Kain Robins who kicked 4 goals, took plenty of marks and set up goals.

To be fair no-one deserved the best player award but that was a strange choice?!!

Surely its time for WFL Commission to try something innovative to rekindle interleague spirit. Why do they not contact VCFL/AFL and try to appoint an ex-AFL player as League coach. Even a Tommy Hafey or Tony Shaw, but peferably someone not long out of the game. I am sure there is enough of them on payroll already.

If nothing else it would act as a coaching seminar for current WFL coaches, gaining fresh ideas on coaching.

It may also just be enough incentive to get more players to wear the Big W with passion.

Any other ideas out there? Maybe a free membership to HSU for all players who put their hand up!

The wimmera league needs to use a carrot and stick approach....
Great idea about a high profile coach....
What about some incentive for all who play
and a punishment for those who are selected and won't....one week suspension will surely inspire clubs to encourage their players....

Maybe its time to bring in zoning again for the Wimmera League...especially for juniors divide horsham and close outlining areas into 3

You have to be very careful about making players play. You create a master / servant relationship and if player is injured has grounds for legal action.

The idea of incentive is a good one though. I know they rewarded players several years ago by giving them a year pass into grounds. Still that is an expense to clubs. Why can't the league use some of its funds to create incentive. Where does the WFL finals money go as the clubs get nothing!

Sounds arrogant but maybe the wfl would have been better playing the entire horsham or warrack sides as their interleague side?

Slenko surely you know as much as anyone that the league is broke....it was only a few seasons ago i was told that they came to the clubs asking for individuals to loan them money! Maybe it was this money that was used to fund the new umpiring groups coaches, bags, uniform, travel and Accommodation when traveling from ballarat!

It was not that many years ago they had $50-$60k stashed away that was ear marked for offices of the WFL. Not sure what the arrangements are with the Firebrace Street premises but the clubs need to start asking some questions as to where the money is going or gone? Not even sure the clubs are issued with financial statements for the league.

I am sure they would be made available at AGM every year, but do clubs actually look and take notice?

I have noticed the District League paying dividends to its clubs, but then again their commission appears to be go getters not snouts in the trough!

The apathy of the clubs towards the league is appalling. Clubs are just happy to sit back and blame everyone else for their failings.

Make the commission accountable to the clubs. Ask questions regards the financial arrangements of the league.
