2013 All Australian Team

I think Fyfe has been a little over rated this year, but definitely still in contention. I think, and I know a lot of people won't agree or like this... that Stokes has had a better year so far. And I am a MASSIVE Fyfe fan.

If Fyfe keeps playing well and improving each week, probably a bench spot.

Here's a query, Fyfe was BOG against your team last weekend, but you want him to improve ?. If he "improves" weekly, he will be looking towards the rare athmosphere of Ablettland.

Fyfe is a freak in that he comes from a "dry" country area but really excells in the wet, the wetter the better.

Our delivery i50 this year has been deplorable, a huge factor into why we are where we are.
With some better delivery i feel Kennedy would be on top of Cloke as far as contested marks go (important stat for a FF).
But really who knows, i think you would have both in your team if you had the chance..
Your delivery can hardly be worse than ours.

Just for a laugh, I've compiled the All Australian Team according to Supercoach. A few tweaks;

1 - Bartel and Walker have been switched down back. They are higher scoring than all the other backs and they have played significant time down back this year.
2 - The best rated FPFs and KPDs have been selected in their respective positions ahead of higher scoring smaller forwards and backs.
3 - The interchange has been selected as the next best Ruck, Midfielder, Backman, and Dangerfield steps into the forward role due to the fact he is a jet and it's my thing and I can make up whatever rules I want.

FB: Shaw, Thompson, Bartel
HB: Gibbs, Taylor, Walker
C: Pendlebury, Ablett, Griffen
HF: Johnson, Riewoldt, Martin
FF: Cox, Kennedy, Stokes
R: Goldstein, Swan, Watson
Int: Minson, Barlow, Goddard, Dangerfield

Overall, it's a pretty decent team. Not too many complaints really. I was more intrigued to see the team the Official AFL Player Ratings would spit out, but for the life of me I can't find the stats relating to this year only. But prior to the bye rounds, these were supposedly the top ten players in the league for 2013...
Interestingly, if you excuse Naitanui's return game where he was the sub, he averages 119.8 SC points per game. It would be 4th overall in the league behind Ablett, Pendlebury and Griffen.

This compares as below;
Naitanui 119.8
Goldstein 113.1
Minson 111.8
Cox 111.5

As mentioned above, it's more a matter of him playing enough games.

You call others imbeciles for putting Cloke ahead of Kennedy, then in the very next sentence you champion Kennedy's case by quoting stats where Cloke is dominating him.

I'd let it go if you didn't include the imbecile call, but you did and you looked like an idiot.

Now you turning to the imbecile comment. Which is it?

I think Roughead will be the nominal 'second ruck' this year. No ruckman is having a truly fantastic year, so I don't think they'll devote two spots in the AA team to them this year.

I think Naitanui would be slightly ahead of Minson or Goldstein on form per game (if that makes sense), but he may have missed too much football to get an AA spot. I wouldn't be too upset either way with any of those three getting the nod though. Just depends on how much of a factor 'games played' is.

I forgot about roughy! How could I, he tore us a new one last week. your right great year and deserves to be in there also. Your right wouldn't be upset either way.

After finally getting recognition last year I'd say McPharlin would definitely be in the running again this year too. I reckon both will make it but Fyfe would be more likely to miss out than Luke at this stage IMO.
Definitely think McPharlin should get in at FB (IMO).

Fyfe has had an overrated year I said, I didn't say he is an overrated player. Definitely in contention though!

It's sad when people get so defensive of their players... I love Fyfe as much as anyone.. He wasn't BOG either, Barlow was, but besides that point...

He has had a good year by his standards, but is still capable of more. Yes, agree, he is a freak which is why I expect a little more from him.

He is... definitely in contention, as previously stated.

Totally agree.

From Freo Mcpharlin is definitely All Australian. Barlow and Ibbotson are right up there too.

Even Michael Johnson would have to be looked at. He has turned a lot of games into our favour this year and is cutting of a lot of inside 50's with his marking and spoiling. Great rebounder too.

Walters will have to light it up again to come back into consideration.

He was definitely BOG against Nth Melbourne with both coaches giving him 5 in the AFLCA player of the year. Barlow was second though :) But yeah I don't know if Fyfe is AA right now, perhaps on the cusp. Not that I really mind either way..

Fremantle vs North Melbourne
10 Fyfe (Frem)
7 Barlow (Frem)
5 Ibbotson (Frem)
5 Swallow (North)
2 Johnson (Frem)
1 Spurr (Frem)

Cloke is a better player in every facet bar accuracy.

Given his 11 tackles tackles for the year compared to Kennedy's 43 you'd have to say Kennedy is ahead by a mile in forward pressure.

He's also better at ground level, and far more superior in every facet of kicking (run up aside) in general. How many times do you see cloke gather a loose ball at ankle level, turn and kick a goal over his shoulder. I know never.. The only thing cloke is better at is contested marking an jk ain't far behind him on that. And also cloke has a head like a dropped pie, I guess he has jk covered in the head like a dropped pie category..

Sorry, probably didn't explain myself well enough.

Just having a funny look at if he improved on Sundays effort.

As a midfielder, he is up against alot of competition. From a Freo point of view for consistency, Barlow would be my pick, although he won't get a gig in the end.

What? Kennedy has kicked more goals, laid more tackles, averages more inside 50s and more goal assists this year. I'd rather a sharp shooter who gets the ball less than Cloke who frequently burns chances his teammates would be more likely to kick. Riewoldt and Kennedy are, currently, worthy AA selections. Cloke averages 53% in goalkicking, that's not even close to most good key forwards. Richardson was known to miss a lot of shots and even he averaged 59% in goalkicking.
