We always seem to have low crowds against Adelaide, very rarely get much more than 30k IIRC. The threat of bad weather certainly turned a few away which was a shame considering it didn't rain at all in the end.

Decent atmosphere at the game though, most there on Saturday were the true diehards, not many idiots booing backwards kicks either :thumbsu:

I still think we're doing alright if 28k is our lowest crowd in what, 5 or more years?

I thought 28K was pathetic, regardless of weather & time! Have I missed something?

To be honest, I hardly ever look at attendances. Is there any particular reason I should feel great angst if we have a low attendance game? I could understand if we have Port 2012 attendances but I would have thought we were a fair bit off that?

It's definitely nothing to worry about, I'd guess the number of times we've had a crowd of less than 30k in the last 10 years would be less than half a dozen.

Go and check out the attendance on a similarly horrible night against Brisbane in the middle of Harvey's reign. Think you'll find out we're massively ahead now.

The weather was much much worse that night, we were playing Brisbane, plus we'd just kicked one goal the previous week. Not much of a draw, even for the diehards.

Supporters are extremely soft if they don't go because of weather.

It will be interesting to see the attendances in the new stadium, when people don't need to buy season memberships to get a seat. I think there is a decent chance we could be playing to <30k regularly, which will look poor in a bigger stadium.

Yes.

Are you posting in threads like this now? (This is rhetorical)

Are you endorsing threads whining over crowd numbers now? (this is non-rhetorical)

Subiaco is a total shit-hole, combined with the cities uninspiring mass transport system I can see why some members give it a miss at times. Perhaps shift work comes into it as well.

I'm more pumping up my own Internetz street cred by pointing out that I go to all the games.

It's more about my greatness than others failings.

Hang on. I'll just look through my Victorian Handbook of Excuses. Let's see:

- we were playing an interstate team
- there was bad bad weather expected
- we lost last week
- our supporters hate the stadium
- our supporter hate every timeslot except Friday night and Sat 2pm
- our supporters only go to watch the opposition and no one wanted to watch Adelaide
- our city is so exciting and metropolitan we have better things to do than watch footy
- it was too hot/too cold, too sunny/too dark
- Jupiter's 7th moon was in the wrong stage of orbit
- you interstaters just don't understand that we have a superior footy culture to you and part of that hardcore culture is not showing up to games unless all the above conditions are met

- Ross Lyon is ruining AFL football
- I don't like how the Steve's changed the jumper without my consent
- I don't like the reworked song
- Pavlich wasn't playing
- The Eagles season is over, I'm done with football <-- (probably the most popular one)

Back to the point of this thread (sorry for the delay) in updating:

Home Crowd v Crows: 28,675

Average Home Crowd 2013: 34,441

2013 Average v 2012 Average: Up 1,055

Our 2013 average took a big hit after this weekends game. I hope we fill Patersons for our last 2 home games.

GWS and Saints - you gotta be joking, right?

Actually enjoyed the 28k turning up, the diehards loyal freo fans that probably turned up during the lean early 2000s years. Crowd was still loud and amazingly supporting Dawson instead of the usual groans with his handballing. Alot of the 40 k members are largely eagles fans 'supporting WA teams'- the ones that turn up suddenly to the derby in Eagles gear.
