Yeah but his stats are ok for a second year player, picks become meaningless once a player shows a bit on the park, Hird was pick eighty something.

Screw it, offer Adelaide our third rounder and if they refuse take him in the psd.

hes contracted so that may be difficult, we have to play

Jarryd Lyons has played about 9 games in two years. His stocks are no higher than a third rounder. Would think our third rounder is going to Michie, anyway.

How is a player who's played twelve games in four years worth the same as a player who has played one game in three?

So now that all the good players have told us to get stuffed we're starting on the midcarders?

Fair enough too, we have to be realistic about we're were at - and it's not like Roos hasn't had some success turning average players into good players - but Jesus H Christ we'd better become a more attractive destination in the next couple of years or we're just going to get ransacked for free agents every year.

Michie tears it up in the VFL, and Fremantle have a much better midfield than Adelaide keeping him out.

WAFL?

Magner also tears it up in the VFL, got a 50 possession game this year.

Yeah sorry, was thinking WAFL and said VFL.

According to one of those Facebook pages, we've offered a 3 year deal to Lyons. Apparently we've also committed our second rounder to Zak Jones, if he's still available. Zak is a good player but I wonder if Roos would take him over a Sheed/Dunstan/Dumont type if they're still available at that point. Hopefully our Sylvia compensation is good.

Lyons played 9 games this year, averaged 16.6 touches - had a couple as sub too I think.

Adelaide's midfield is pretty strong too, especially inside.

The question is though, is Lyons really a better player than Tapscott, Blease, Trengove, Toumpas, Viney, N Jones, Kent, McKenzie, Evans, M Jones, Magner, Bail and whoever we plan on drafting in the first and second round? Will he really play a substantial role in making us a better side?

We might get some 3rd round picks out of Blease and Tapscott that could be used for Lyons and Michie. With his relation to the Scully clan, wouldn't be surprised if we traded Blease to GWS for their 3rd rounder. And maybe a straight swap Tapscott for Lyons.

id prefer to keep tapscott, think roos can help him do what he was doing in the first year

Watched some footage of Lyons, does actually look like a pretty sharp player. Still prefer Michie though.

Docherty looks likely to be picked up by Carlton this week. Other than Adams, there aren't many out of contract players left that might be available for us in the PSD. If no one chances on Dayle Garlett, he might be the best option.

Why not both Lyons and Mitchie?!

Not sure that they're both best 22 for us. That being said, it does create good competition for the mids currently on our list. I guess that's the purpose of 'depth', to raise the overall quality of the playing list. If we're giving up a third rounder for Michie, what do we have for Lyons?

Take off those off-season rose-coloured glasses mate. Both those players would be starting 21 for us. We need all the midfielders we can get, and they can both take the places of some of the legion of average flankers we have in any given week.
