I should preface this by making sure you know that I AM a hawthorn supporter and am perfectly aware of schoenmakers' history, but if you look at how he has gone when released on to the flank (in the absence of an opposition power forward, or someone else taking that role as their stopper) Schoens manages scores between 80-110... It's only when he's been against teams like Geelong, Collingwood, West Coast (pre JK injury), with obvious power forwards that have destroyed us/him. So with the arrival of Brian Lake, Schoens (HOPEFULLY) will NEVER be asked to stop a tall marking power forward, and will thus be moved out on to the flank, possibly to fill the hole left by the outgoing Young.

Rookies are subject to change, depending on how the rest of the nab cup goes. I'll most likely be cutting on of either Ball or Hartlett since they're both quite risky now... Hopefully Ball does a Lenny Hayes and makes out like nothing ever happened.
I'm not sure on the big Q.Lynch, i would almost use the cash for another rookie, then use that cash to upgrade another player

OK here is my team so far. Feel free to let me know what you think

I've been quite critical of some teams on here, so thought I'd put what I'm currently running with out there. Looking forward to some opinions (especially toxic)

Rookies still not 100%, don't know what I'll do with Stevie J yet, will decide after NAB cup.

Duffield i dont think has great improvement in him, seems set around the 85-90 range
Stevie J -is causing me the same headache - currently think he might be worth keeping for a round
Midfield may be one premium short IMHO
Witts wont play for pies, to take advantage of Cox being DPP you need a rookie ruck as a R/F
Gibbs I'm still a wait and see on - priced to his best and i cannot see where he is going to slot into the mid-field (Judd,Murphy,Carazzo, McLean, Robinson,Simpson) I just dont see him getting enough midfield time to rise significantly.
Wright i love as a pick, Sandi i love as a pick

Good Luck

With Duffield I'm pretty keen on him, but Heppel, Grimes and Rielly could all easily take his place.

Can't really free up cash to add another premium mid.

Backs: I like a lot. Hanley should step it up, heard he maybe having stints in the midfield? The rookies look good, standard for most teams.
Myself I have broughton, im still iffy on him. Hopefully the new club does him some good.
Mids: I like your midds a lot! Martin/Mitchell were standouts over the weekend, should be a great pick ups! Can't say anything bad about your prems, fantastic options.
Rucks: Unusual set, though could work well. I see you have Cox in the fwd, so the switch is up there. Leu could be the cheap ruckman this year everybody jumps on and dominates.
Fwd: Martin I feel is hit and miss last year, lets hope he gets a little more consisent. Lee - keep watching over the NAB series.

Overall, I like your team a lot! 8/10

View attachment 11969 View attachment 11969Heres my team its a bit of a basket case at the moment. Any thoughts on fixing up my forward line and possible midfield?? Thanks.
I think you need a dpp (fwd) in your mids say for caddy still unsure how is sc scores will go.And unsure on rockwizz role seem to only score well every 2nd 3rd week last year backline is soild thats my 2 cents.

Anywoo heres my crack at it/
Goddard/gibbs/Hshaw/harlett/broughton/pittard..docterty.colquhoun

p'berry/JKP/Jselwood/cothin/fyfe/moloney/crouch/Bgoodes/mayes/viney.

rucks jacobs and leuenbuger and currie/lowden

monfries/Mwright(crows)..lecras..varcoe..staker inj?..macaffer..kerridge Jneade.
forward needs work but its a start i guess.

Here's where I'm at this week. Would love some feedback.

Tried to load the forward line up a bit with there being more potential more big tons than in the backline and also not having a lot of rookies to choose from.

Taking a bit of a punt with both Sloane and Fyfe in the mids. But they both have the potential to be at least 110+ players and the extra cash was useful.

Will probably need a huge amount of luck. Way too many midpricers who are unlikelly to be keepers and not going to make enough $$ to be good cash cows. It seems like a team that would be difficult to upgrade. In particular you need more genuine premos in the mids IMO.

First of I would get rid of Naitanui, Pavlich, Daniher. First 2 because they are injured, not sure how long Pav is out for but he seems to be a good choice to bring in mid-season. Daniher a big KPP rookie won't score well. I would also move Varcoe/Martin to the FWD line as they are no where near good enough to be Top 8 midfielders but could be Top 6 FWD material.

Been burnt by sandi maybe go for goldy instead then use the extra cash to upgrade atley

Yeh was thinking that too, but apparently he's injury free and had a good pre-season so if that's the case and he's in form his numbers will be huge again

im feeling like Nostradamus today

Dont judge me on my rookies, not 100% sure about em yet :p

Like the team. My thoughts. NicNat is out at the start of the year i hear, so maybe replace with Cox or Roughy. Think Varcoe in the midfield is a bit of a reach and would be better in the FWD line as there are less FWD line options. I also feel like you can do better than Martin in P4 (Mid), but maybe you know more than me... i do agree he is undervalued, but once again i think he is better in the FWD line. He is more likely to stay in your team longer throughout the year. Otherwise looks good. Liking Hanley, thinking of bringing him in mine.

Here is my team:

BACK: B.Goodard, B.Gibbs, D.Hepell, G.Broughton, C.Yarran, J.Pittard, D.Terlich, S.Docherty

MID: M.Murphy, T.Cotchin, L. Shuey, N.Fyfe, D.Mundy, D.Hannebery, T.Scully, J.O’Meara, B.Crouch, J.Viney

RUCK: T.Goldstein, M.Leuenberger, B.Grundy, D.Currie

FOR: T.Rockliff, D.Martin, A.Monfries, J.Kennedy, T.Varcoe, B.Macaffer, B.Kennedy, T.Lee

I'm taking a bit of a punt with Scully and Monfries, I'm also electing depth with young up and coming players over going top heavy. Basically i'm going against SC rules for success :)

Thoughts.

No Swan , Pendlebury or Ablett ?? I think you are relying on too many to reach elite status in your mids.Backs look solid not convinced on yarran or broughton yet until we see there roles. you need to work on your Forward line
Rockliff is no better than your 3rd mid from the get go but may break out, which push's the likes of Martin and Monfries(both risks i believe) etc out to maybe your 5th 6th Forward. Rucks Solid as any

I'm sticking with this until the Round 1 teams.
