We gonna get on Swoop? Looking forward to it and a cold beverage afterwards!!
Fingers crossed we do! At this stage I'm not sure how the ground is looking but the rain has been fairly constant.

I guess it'll come down to how much AFLQ want the round to proceed as always :(

Is the weather trying to tell us something?

If this is rained out then this round would have been scratched twice.

OK, who knows what happened LOgan v Pine Rivers? Are Logan about to rise up or were Pine missing half their squad???

Also, I have heard from 2 different people that Skiddy head butted an umpire when they met carrara. Is this true??? I am guessing not as it hasnt been mentioned on here?

Also god to see the Buffs smash Carrara on the weekend despite lapsing for 2 quarters. Also a special shout out to Carrara no. 10. He is a funny guy.

Morro templar looks a very handy pick up from Alex - much of a story how he ended up at buff land?

that 3rd spot still very much up for grabs you'd think with a game seperating 3rd - 5th - that catch up round might be very important!!

surely if skiddy headbutted an umpire he would have been suspended / charged?

p.s I now catch the train to work in brisbane - every day when it stops at Beenleigh i wonder whether or not i technically qualify as being on the buff train and am eagerly awaiting my membership pack if the answer is in the affirmative.

Very handy pick up indeed and a great bloke. He came to a few pre-season sessions with a mate but decided to play at Alex. I believe things didnt work out there as he had hoped and he phoned us rd3 I think and asked if we would mind if he came down. Needless to say, we had no issue :D

Yeah I agree on the skiddy thing, but the 2 blokes who said it dont seem like guys who would make it up.

Haha believe me mate, if you were on the BUff train, you would know.

Ps. keep you cash in your shoe, we take no responsibility for money found, whether it be on a person or not.

always a tough decision when a jet asks if you mind if he comes and plays!!

dont worry about my money mate - the most prized possession i have is my go card - F**k me can sting you to use public transport in QLD!

I've always said this league comes down to teams that can win away. I'm sure the prospect of a trip to Cobra territory had a few Swans "having to work" ;)

Although on a serious note I'd say from the Logan side we faced it would've only taken 2-3 good ins to have them as a real big contender. Plus if my memory serves me correct Pine Rivers had a few guys unavailable for a couple of weeks (from the whispers I was told up there).

Swoopa,
Any chance one of your club umpires is coming up on Saturday and would be happy to do the ressies game?

Surely not another cancellation? There hasn't been any 'rain events' has there?

Yes UQ have pulled the pin because of rain and are not willing to move the game to Coomera, Kedron or Oakman park despite all being available. Instead they suggest playing next sunday after 24 hrs rest.....

Don't the rules say if they can't provide a place tmrw and you can they have to play it...? Wow that's big!! If it doesn't happen though, you and Swoop could pop up for a World Famous?? Bring ya boots, light on in the twos!! Ha ha!!

that has to be a forfeit and should also be a fine if refusal to play at available venue, Oakman park is 3 Ks from UQ for F%&K sake, do uni holidays and exams have anything to do with this. we have had one day of light rain.

Would them canceling have something to do with them not wanting to trash the field for there div one teams which are more important ??? What about there 4th grade and women's teams do they have to cancel too?

I specifically recall a stern warning from someone at AFLQ when in 2012 when our field was flooded... "We've already had 1 rained out round (reserves rd 1) so if you don't play you'll forfeit and get fined". We risked a council fine and the game went ahead.

We have offered everything for this game to go ahead. Originally told "their players would have to come straight from exams onto the field at UQ", so we suggested 2 and 4pm starts then "they have exams until 5.30pm".....

So the weather was never the issue!! Absolute rubbish. Sorry but I always give the benefit of the doubt but this is disgusting. We are now threatened with rescheduling (and the working class all know how hard that will be) or lose 2 points in each grade.

The precedent has been set guys! Go for gold.

I feel for the likes of Calamvale who bust heir guts every week to put a side on the park!

im new here so please be nice :) having a look at your league fixture wouldn't you guys playing on sunday week actually not only make coomera player's at a huge disadvantage due to playing the day before and possible injuries but also uq having the bye that week? Now what has AFLQ come and said about uq refusing to play and wanting to move to the week they have the bye and coomera a huge chance at losing both grades/ possible no players as im sure most partners don't want to come down for two cames in a week?

Bingo. The whole thing is a joke!

I have defended UQ many times before. Not this time.

What's wrong with this Sunday then?

sunday is usually family day for any family and the unlucky few who don't work on a saturday so they can play, decided they work the sunday instead to make up for it I use to work every sunday so i could have saturday off. Moving a game at such late notice hurts clubs a lot, plus they hard months notice for exams to contact aflq and coomera as im sure they could have played during the week instead of training? will be interesting to see what happens from here.

The club has no control over ground availability. If UQ Sport decides to shut the ovals then no-one is allowed on, and they regularly make that decision far too prematurely. I can't make comment on the alternate venue option as I have no idea what goes on at a committee level, but I can assure you that those guys would have been doing everything they can to get a game happening somewhere. As a student I can also assure you it has nothing to do with exams, as all bar a handful of us finished exams during the week.
