like i said: insufferable
someone needs to teach you the virtue of being gracious and humble in defeat, instead of carrying on like a 12 year old

Listen pal, you'd be best placed to keep a low profile.

The way you carried on pre-game was nothing short of disgraceful. You were happy to dish up your own particular brand of bullshit but it seems that you can't cop it now that you have been embarrassed.

You are nothing more than a hypocrite.

I just think our team matches up so well with Sydney. Never thought they had the defenders to go with our forward line. Won last 4/5 with only loss when we were short on personnel. Both have A grade players but I couldn't imagine a team with Cunningham, rampe, Reid, Pyke, grundy, shaw,Lloyd, bird and Rohan beating a very well rounded hawk team. And all the experts talk about is Sydney's depth didn't buy it.

There were so many things about the Swans that are perfect match ups for the Hawks. Lake is slowing down, but Tippett is the perfect match up for him, cannot beat Lake for speed, cannot beat Lake for strength. The Hawks beat Sydney in R18 with Schoenmakers on Tippett and Litherland on Buddy. Lake and Gibbo were massive upgrades on that - massive. As noted above the lack of forward pressure by the Swans was always going to be an issue. Goodes, Ried and Tippett provide nothing. Swans lack of small forwards is a massive structural issue for them. Hawks small and medium forwards is too much for them at the other end to handle.

The thing no one saw coming was the midfield domination. The Hawks have a big advantage on the wings with Hill and Smith. But I have no idea what happened to the swans in the middle. That was a surprise.

I will never understand how the lead up was so one sided. It made zero sense.

Would be amusing but it's not a very credible list when you consider that Goodes was apparently better than all of Breust, Suckling and Birchall. Insert one-liners about villages missing their idiot, etc.

Goodes was pretty poor and had no influence on the game at all.

Sorry, ratings never lie.

I for one will always remember 2014 as the GF where Goodes kicked a bag of critical goals, sliced open Hawthorn's midfield with his sublime footskills, and gained more meters for his team than any other player on the park. Should have been Norm Smith, for mine.

Apologies if racist.

I assume you mean since he created his account right?

Longmire as 'coach of the year'

Clarko was streets ahead of him considering what happened at the Hawks this year

Clarkson absolutely pants Longmire in the game that matters most.

Brad Hill was amazed he didn't get more attention after starting on the bench and then going forward before heading to his normal wing.

Mitchell ran free all day!!!??!!

Swans forward line too tall with no pressure applied (well that was across the entire field actually)

Roughead playing up the ground throwing his weight around at stoppages. losing his man and running forward.

Spanger able to leave his man on numerous occasions to help spoil Buddy (the least Reid could do was spread more)

Goodes lack of chasing is awful to watch. Not sure who was on him, but suckling, Birchall and Gibson did what they wanted coming out of defence and Goodes didn't do anything about it.

On occasion he would man the mark aggressively.

Has scored a lot against us recently by staying in the forward 50 while his opponent rebounds. That's fine, it's a smart tactic, but even when the rebounders were building deep he just didn't do anything to stop them.

Not sure its a tactic i dont think he can go defensively its just a shame he should probably retire, but at the same time he did appear to be one of the few to give a crap and deserves a better last game

Even if the opposition is so much better or you are having a shocker there no excuse not to run
What annoyed me being there was gibson lake and spangher could be alone move it up the ground where hawks had more numbers, then further up where hawks outnumbered swans

Thats just work rate nothing to do with talent

At least have a bloody crack, thats what let the fans down more than the bloody margin,

I thought the game provided a perfect example, by one side, of how to play footy. Not a waste of time for that alone.
Was a near perfect game from the hawthorn footy club. Applied relentless pressure until they broke, spread with some of the quickest most fluent handball movement I've seen. Landed tackles with purpose and some interest. For all that, the most impressive times were when Sydney tried to begin momentum shifts in last 10 mins of the second qtr and start of third. Hawks braced for it, absorbed the pressure, and counterpunched. Sydney tried to press hard twice before they were truly broken at 10 min mark of third IMO. Breathtaking!

. OK, thanks, just wanted to clarify. As you can imagine, I'm more than a little flabbergasted. Everyone knows Sydney rarely let our opponent play on their terms for long, let alone for an entire game.Hell of a day to decide to relinquish that credential.

Relinquish?? May I suggest it was actually taken from you on the day rather than Sydney relinquishing it.

Agreed, what I was trying to imply is that it's not as if Sydney have lost it, they still have it and will be the same power house next year.
Oh yep-agree with that-people saying they need to do this and that-nope, not necessary. They have a good team but good idea to turn up next time in a GF.

Yep, near perfect. One small fault I noticed, and have noticed in many games this year. We were outmarked/intercepted repeatedly when we bombed the ball into the forward line. Over and over in fact. Have seen it alot this year, and last. Anyone else slightly bothered by this? (as much as it is possible to be 'bothered' when your team has just won back to back, and destroyed the 'best team' of 2014).

Hopefully the coaching staff if looking closely at that.

Can't believe I'm such a killjoy.....

I've noticed that too in general but I actually found we did a lot better in this department in the gf. I actually put it as a poit of note of something I was impressed with

Yeah? You'd better watch the replay again (not an unsavoury request!). I just watched it again last night, they intercept marked our kicks at least a dozen times, it was worse than ever.
