I too played at Western Districts, but disagree about Westen Magpies being just Sherwood, if you have a look at their premiership teams and people involved in the club many of them have been local area people e.g Wests,Kenmore,Jindalee and Ipswich and i am sure the club would like more involvement from those clubs. Also on their senior coaching panel this year you have a couple of Kenmore people,ex Yeronga and an Ipswich person. Te Western Magpies are into their 16th season as that identity (West Brisbane folded in 1997) and the only way the Western Magpies will grow and prosper will be if those in the area get involved or support, get down to a game this year take off any previous thoughts you have had about the place and watch some great local talent represent the area i bet you enjoy yourself.Wish I had a club I could obviously follow in the new QAFL. I went to UQ and played a season there many moons ago so I guess I could follow them but not with a heap of enthusiasm. In the very old QAFL I followed Western Districts as I played for the juniors and they kind of represented my area. The Western Magpies are really just Sherwood and so I don't feel the same about them. It's one thing lacking from the league I reckon, that evenly spread, kind of local representative/tribal feel that the old days had with the more evenly split N/S/E/W Brisbane representation. I understand the challenges the league faces but do wish for something like those old days a bit. I wonder if they might eventually go the TAC Cup route and make regional rep teams rather than clubs.
Have the Magpies still got the same change rooms? Like the old Panthers away rooms.I too played at Western Districts, but disagree about Westen Magpies being just Sherwood, if you have a look at their premiership teams and people involved in the club many of them have been local area people e.g Wests,Kenmore,Jindalee and Ipswich and i am sure the club would like more involvement from those clubs. Maggies have new rooms for both home and away teams they look very similair to surfers, probably a bit bigger then morninside new opposition rooms, uni's facilities are a worry!! also no fence around the ground?New Panthers rooms top notch now
When I went to Uni (shortly after WWII) Uni played in front of the "Rec Club" which was a magnificent viewing position but I gather they have been moved to another part of the campus.. No fence couldn't be any different from fishing the balls out of the creek at Zillmere. If no fence is as bad as it gets I am not worried. My main concern with the restructure is that Broadbeach don't let the quality of the steamed dim sims drop off !!! My other wish would be that all clubs can provide a real cup of coffee.Maggies have new rooms for both home and away teams they look very similair to surfers, probably a bit bigger then morninside new opposition rooms, uni's facilities are a worry!! also no fence around the ground?

I think we will just have to cop it sweet in the QAFL if facilities aren't up to scratch. Would rather play in a genuine comp rather than play in the next level at a club that won't be around in 2 years because of wasted funds.
Chikka wait until you get to Sandgate, Grange and PBC, they will make the old Siders's rooms look like the Ritz !
Heard a rumour that Thunder may play a home game in Katherine, I can't see any of the AFL reserves agreeing to that - bad luck Aspley, Southport or Redlands !!!
