Yeronga seem to be hitting there straps with a very handy win over Kenmore.

The top 5 seems to be pretty even with the exception of Springwood who are a cut above everyone.

As for the umpires at Robina vs Coomera I must admit from a mutual stand view they were deplorable at best.
6-7 goals for coomera coming from 50 metres penalties that were not warranted.

Imo more needs to be done to attract young umpires to the game. Some of these old fossils are passed there use by date and seem to have no understanding of the modern game and are ruining games of football.

You are correct. There was blatant cheating and a terrible display of umpiring yesterday - but as your reserves club umpire is a volunteer I'd hate to say a bad word against him.

Probably not worth complaining about in the big scheme of local footy.
 
I also asked 1 of the players about the 50's (which are extremely damaging on that small ground) and he said he was around the play for most of them, and most were a result of the umpire receiving abuse. He said most were definitely warranted and the others maybe 50/50. Don't blame Coomera for that.

Every team has copped "one of those days" from the lads with the whistle.

In regards to the footy, I quite enjoyed the show and was very happy with the way we went about it. We only had 2 on the bench from Quarter time.

Agreed thankless task. You cop it from both teams all day and get the inside of a donut for doing it!

May as well become a league ump and get paid to cop it.

must say, I follow Broadbeach, but last year I watched Robina on 4 occasions and twice so far this year ( just to watch how Fults is going.) and I say the abuse towards the umpires by the Robina players was so vocal it wasn't funny..... very undisciplined in this area.
 
Some interesting comments - I have no problem with the umpires pinging blokes for abuse. Abuse to me is swearing or threatening directly at an umpire. If the umpires are going to ping blokes for swearing at a skill error or in frustration I can handle that as not a great look for crowds. But if u want blokes to run around as mutes, then play ur part and a) protect blokes with there head over the ball b) be consistent and c) don't start talking to players urself and then get power hungry if they engage back with u.

Rocket is one of the first to engage with players and 90% of the time it's a laugh - but gee I've seen him murder some teams in my time with palmy and robina.

Granted we don't have games without the umpires - but that doesn't mean that they are always right.
 
Interesting to see the same 5 clubs currently fill the 5 in seniors and seniors. Can't see the kings chasing a 2's flag by dropping blokes back so would only leave Alex as the question mark (light hearted dig at Stanley)

Notting returns and the devils starting to come good! Should be a good second half of the season

Fair display by O'Shea from Springwood on the weekend. Word is that he shot 10.10 from CHF.

Aside from games down the coast, umpiring has been pretty good of late - except for a very soft report on a bloke from Alex on the weekend.

Robina Burleigh next week should be a cracker!

I have to say if I take my Coomera hat off I enjoy watching Fulton play. It's no wonder he has so many bags.

Also, props to him for getting involved in some light hearted banter off the fence.

He enjoyed us ironically cheering him on because we felt the crowd wasn't getting behind him.

That is what local footy is about!
 
When you're getting murdered by the umpires, the worst thing you can possibly do is then get upset by it and start giving them a gobful - thats when the 50's start to flow and the tide gets worse.

I've seen it so many times in footy when a side is getting murdered by either a bad umpire, or a bias one - and they then magnify the issue by giving away countless 50's in response. Usually the 50's are completely warranted, while the free kick that preceded it was often very dubious!

If you shutup and don't say a word, the 'bias' umpire doesn't feel as important as he'd hoped and before you know it, he's actually umpiring through 2 eyes. Bad umpiring on the other hand, simply can't be helped - so shutting up is still the best course of action.

It's unfortunate that there is still very much an element of bias umpiring in the lower levels of QLD footy, some blokes just have to pull their heads in and forget their club ties.

This coming from a bloke who just posted a thinly veiled pot at an umpire. You need not concern yourself with me though. You made me smile when I read your attempt to vindicate your own players lack of discipline

Club umpires are a different kettle of fish.

You will often find that they are NEVER bias, because they are so worried about doing a good job and don't really want to do it at all.

They often aren't very good though, but that's because they are not regular umpires.

My views are 100% my own and have nothing to do with the acting in any capacity for the club. I expressed an opinion as a player.

Out of interest do u play or are u a spectator of a particular team? Or are u just another of those guys who happened to stumble across a forum of blokes talking shit and having a laugh about an amateur comp?

I'm in the first and last category, but here's the thing... When my side wins, we celebrate and enjoy the win. We certainly don't take winning for granted and we don't waste our time worrying about the standard of umpiring. But that's just me.

You should be thanking your own players they stopped playing the ball and went head hunting to which the umpires responded to.
When they started to play the ball they kicked away again in the last quarter.

Must say this statement is completely false. I did actually watch the game and seen nothing untoward from either side to be honest. So to say Robina was head hunting is a load of crap. I think Swoopa would agree also.

They should always be no bias
ROCKET must have an issue with Robina ?
Not sure why when the umpires train Wednesday at Robina
He has no issue
ROCKET when you read this don't do that again people spend a lot of
Time and money getting these teams to this spot
