Willie to be whacked.

WILLIAMSTOWN SALARY CAP BREACH

The following is a statement from AFL Victoria regarding a Salary Cap breach by Williamstown Football Club in the Peter Jackson VFL.
December 20, 2013
AFL Victoria has sanctioned the Williamstown Football Club for breaching the competition Salary Cap during the 2013 Peter Jackson VFL season

Did they retain the title of development league premiers?

Paying aboves would indicate their list would be slightly stronger than if the paid within the cap

It's anyone's guess NSY. AFL Victoria have conveniently waited until the last moment, before closing for Christmas, and will re-open on the 13th of Jan.
AFL politics alive and we'll all the way down the line.

Another headache for AFL Victoria, would be whether to allow Williamstown to compete in the foxtel cup, and how this will be seen by the other state bodies.
Nothing is simple anymore.
West Adelaide breached the salary cap in 2012 & still competed in (and won) the Foxtel Cup this year.

I reckon the precedent is set right there.

Bit short on information in that article - was it deliberate and calculated cheating or just poor management? That makes all the difference for mine.

The 100,000 first prize would have soothed the salary cap breaches.
What a joke.
West Adelaide has been a club in crisis for some time.

$100,000 went missing. So did their CEO.

The father-in-law of the CEO repaid the missing money.

Understandably, the members are furious.

So no signings this year. Is their a cut off date?
Still waiting to hear from new recruits to Box Hill but as yet none have been mentioned seems very strange

I fear that it is exactly as Houdinihuddo has stated in post 28 of this thread.
He is always on the money and doesn't normally give anything away that the club would not be comfortable with.
It's a difficult climate coming into 2014.

I finally can post some news re the BHH recruiting. Recruits signed Ayden Kennedy [North Melbourne] plus Vic Metro players Nick Evans & Jordan Walker [Eastern Ranges] and Aiden Franetic [Oakleigh Chargers].I expect to be in a position to post details of more signings in the next week. Go Mustang Hawkers!

I called into training last night and noted the presence of 19 of the 27 BHH listed players who played a senior game in 2013. We have the foundation for a very strong side with premiership players Exon, Iles, Lock, Mirra, Murphy & Tobin plus Cust, Gordon, Lawlor & O'Donnell who played in the QF and/or PF. Add Andrews, Cassidy, Collins, Crocker, Northe, Post, Summers, Thompson and Wood and there is certainly a lot to be excited about. The players I didn't see who played a senior game in 2013 were Retzlaff [8 games], Graham [4], Harvey [2], Johnson [2], McGowan [1], Pratt [14], Weekes [3] and Wilsen [5]. Retzlaff is the only missing player who played in a finals game therefore our retention of required players has been excellent.

There are some very talented young players vying for a place on the list and I hope to have some more names to post in the next week. 2013 BF sponsored player Scott Carroll has resumed restricted training following his knee surgery and is working hard to return to the field this season. Tom Goodwin is looking a lot fitter and Sam Collins was outstanding in a 3.2 kms run. I have no more to add at this stage except Go The Mighty Mustang Hawkers.

I'm aware of the following confirmed new signings:
Aaron Bond – Eastern Ranges
Jack Codd-Miller – NSW [NSW/ACT NAB Champs Rep]
Mitch Donoghue – Oakleigh Chargers
Nick Evans – Eastern Ranges [Vic Metro NAB Champs Rep]
Joseph Fisher – Eastern Ranges [Vic Metro NAB Champs Rep]
Aidan Franetic – Oakleigh Chargers [Vic Metro NAB Champs Rep]
Sam Gibson – Eastern Ranges
Ayden Kennedy – North Melbourne Kangaroos
Peter McEvoy – TAS [Younger brother of Ben]
Julian Soccio – Northern Knights
Jordan Walker – Eastern Ranges [Vic Metro NAB Champs Rep]

At this stage the only confirmed departures to state leagues [SANFL/VFL] and retired are:
Bryce Retzlaff – Central Districts
Dalton Graham – Sandringham
Jackson McDonald – Casey
Daniel Pratt – Retired
James Wilsen – Port Melbourne
Will Johnson – Port Melbourne

When you consider the quality of the players we have retained [Post 66] and the greater depth in the HFC list, I think we have good reason to be excited about our prospects in 2014. It's a good result to sign up 5 players who were NAB Champs Reps. I'll post further details when I'm given the OK.

Add Weekes to the list of departures. Signed for one of the sydney clubs in the NEAFL with a couple other Casey Boys.

Five more signings were confirmed last week. Jackson Eade – returning; Callum Burns – Rowville; Jake Kalanj – Northern Knights;
Ryley Monkhorst – Eastern Ranges; Zach Monkhorst – Woori Yallock. With 26 returning and 15 new signings there are only four places left to complete the list.
