Hey Kangas..

I'm a real Drew Petrie fan, but I notice theres not many on here slotting him in their sides. I am in DT and thought he was a good choice….am I overrating him???
Not necessarily. I think a lot of it is to do with the layout of byes this year -- Dangerfield and Dusty share the R8 bye, not to mention Ablett and Pendles -- he's fully priced and might drop a bit for a later upgrade, plus people tend to prefer MID/FWD types to KPFs at a similar price (unfounded IMHO, but whatever).

I think there's better value but I don't think this is the year that Drew will let you down. Can crack some monster scores too.

Hey all a couple of quick queries if you wouldn't mind some assistance.

- Will Majak play 12-16 Games this year? I know he was a buzz player last year but just didn't play enough. Ideally I'd avoid but I'm looking for a 3rd Ruck and just really struggling at the moment (and not really finding a viable option for a fourth Ruck either)

- Any other must haves or smokeys for North? I only have McDonald as a bench player.

- Fitness permitting, yes. Had he not had knee surgery over the preseason he'd be in Round 1. Is competing with Tarrant for third tall and with his ability to pinch hit in the ruck he has an advantage. Should play at least 10 if not more. I think there are better cheap ruck options though - Longer, Hampson, Ceglar etc.

- McDonald is a must as your last defender/bench. While he's the only North 'lock' I'm considering Goldstein in the ruck (rarely has less than 35/40 hit outs so gives you 85-100 week in week out), Hansen down back who's average went up into the 90's after moving back there (averages 10 marks a game in defense) and as a midfield smokey Ziebell who is capable of 120+ scores with high tackle count and goal kicking. Also keep an eye on Cam Delaney & Jay Tippett if Grima goes down again.

Not particularly. Had an interrupted preseason with a toe problem. Behind Thompson, Grima & Hansen as tall defenders. We'd expect him to get a decent run at some point given Grima's and even Hansen's history of injury.

Thanks, and good luck for your season.

Brown nowhere near it for the foreseeable future?

There literally isn't a single ruckman in SC that I like under 200k, so I was thinking that I might as well at least open up a Brown/Thurlow DP. But now it seems like Thurlow is pretty iffy to play in your Round 1 game as well, so leaning towards pairing up Currie and Goldstein for my coverage. Any thoughts?

Thanks...

Won't play in 2014 unless we suffer injuries to Goldstein, Daw and Currie at the same time. Just not ready yet. He needs another full preseason to get close. I've got Currie in too but tbh he really hasn't been impressive in the practice games and his presence in the forward line makes it slow on the rebound out. That said, we haven't been playing a hard press in the F50 so not sure how to read that.

Yeah, don't really like going with Currie, but he seems like a pretty safe pick, since he'll presumably play, if Goldstein misses any games. Of course, that doesn't help me if the other guy goes down in the popular Sandilands/Goldstein pair, but I figure I'll have to just hope Thurlow or Derickx (or both) is selected and put one of them as R4. There's really nothing else, as far as I can see.

I would like to see North do well this year. I notice you are developing a gun midfield. Unfortunately this seems to be at the expense of having young key position players and ruck depth. Backline looks pretty solid but if Thompson got injured it would be a bit thin. Whats Tom Currans prognosis for this year? Unfortunately I think you are relying on Daw and Tarrant having good years. Also if Goldstein gets injured I think you guys might struggle.

Curran won't play most likely until the second half of the year, and will come back through the VFL. Put a line through him for AFL this year I reckon, most certainly fantasy footy anyway.

Anyone else having major issues with the site?
Yep, I've had to enter my team 4 times due to glitches. It has trouble saving, and continually comes up with error messages.

Luke 90%
Daniel 50%
Thanks very much. Reckon McDonald will be a decent player, very much like the look of him.

Hey guys, would love an opinion on Mullett as point of difference for my defence. Started with a bang and looked as if the year caught up with him late, bit of an awkward price, but I have the cash to just sneak him in and am happy with the rest of my team. Will he improve, am I better off picking someone like Nick Vlastuin?

Hansen or Atley would possibly offer better value. Mullett will be getting attention this year that he has never gotten before. That was Atley last year and this year he'll be running through the middle more. Hansen should play the entire year in defence. Most of the time he'll be loose and taking 10+ marks.
That all said Mullett could still be a good pick, finds the ball a lot more than Atley and he kicks goals.

He takes our kick outs and plays on, great tackler and goes forward to kick goals too. Whether helll attract more attention this year after his super 2013 is the question. Could see Atley become more damaging. Also McDonald will help to alleviate the pressure. Nicky Dal too.

Scott THompson is getting zero love. Would like to know what his role will be this year please, and if he has had a good preseason. Do people think he may maintain his average this year?
THankyou and good luck with the year. ENjoy the footy this weekend. Its back baby! :thumbsu::hearts:
