I don't believe I ever read anything attributing the failure of the previous attempts on inherently weak hammy tissue.
Great workI dropped in briefly this morning. Spend most of my time watching the defensive group near the goals at the northern end and resisting the temptation to follow the brights light big city vibe of the mids and forwards as I usually do.
Focused a lot on Smith, Collins, Ueber, Hughes, Tucker and Grey.
There was some conjecture about how tall Hughes is here at some point. He's not as tall as Ueber, Collins or Tanner (who are all around the same height) but he's taller than Grey or Tucker.
I really like watching Hughes, he has the effortless grace I admire in athletes. His judgement and the way he goes for marks makes it look easy and his kicking is plenty good for AFL. I'd be really surprised if he doesn't get a start this year at some point. I would actually prefer him to Sheridan as he's bigger and lacks nothing in skill by comparison.
Collins and Ueber are very promising. They are both big strong boys and both move beautifully and kick the ball well.
Smith was actually ok today. A few of his trademark awful handballs and kicks but most of it was pretty tidy and he does mark well.
Grey seems to be back in terms of his disposal, he cuffed a couple of kicks today but nothing like he was a while back where he seemed to have lost his radar completely.
Tucker is just no fuss and tidy although he does have a slightly awkward ball drop at times. His kicking is very accurate though. He looks plug and play.
Off the rest Sutty was a standout with his kicking today, they are all trying to kick it like Guerra these days and Sutty does it best. Hard, low & flat.
Weller's kicking was also to a high standard today.
Blakely was one who was supposedly a suss kick but all that I saw were low and flat and accurate.
Couldn't stay long today so thats all I've got for now.
Great Report E Shed but did you see what Nyhuis was doing as I couldnt pick up where he was playing certainly not with Forwards at the Old dudes end.He should have been with the Defenders.I dropped in briefly this morning. Nyhuis with the defenders. Forgot to mention him. He made a few clangers today, missing kicks and dropped some marks. Not his best day.Great work
glad grey is slowly back into groove .
Nyhuis? In mid group
See above re Nyhuis. Yes saw Langdon running laps.Great Report E Shed but did you see what Nyhuis was doing as I couldnt pick up where he was playing certainly not with Forwards at the Old dudes end.He should have been with the Defenders.
Just for info Langdon was doing Rehab stuff today as he has been out for a week with the flu.
Yes I had to ignore the process and watch the result. He kicks beautifully over 40M or more too. Great judgement. He does look awkward...but then you watch the ball and it spears to where he wants it to go...
E Shed, do you think we have enough players developing to replace our best 22 footballers nearing,I dropped in briefly thagingning. Could Tucker could be a surprise Round 1 selection?? Seems to fly under the radar a bit but when he is mentioned it all positive. Plus his body looks AFL ready.
Wouldn't Collins / Smith / Weller / Langdon get nod ahead of tucker?
It sounds like Mundy & Hill will fill those spots first and foremost - which would give you an indication of the caliber needed to assess our current shortcomings in this area, with a view to more and more names elsewhere being able to rotate through the middle.Gun use off the back line is one of our critical areas.
He fills the need.

There are a few ahead of Darcy like Sheridan and Sutcliffe, Hughes, Langdon and Weller but the issue is where do we play them all as not that many spots are up for grabs. RTB did talk about him in the Robbo interview but he has done that in the past with others such as Brady grey Apeness and Lngdon and Weller but it was quite a while into the respective season before they got a run. Maybe from what RTB and his coaches have learnt about our personnel he mightn't stay with some of the older types. Who Knows?I think it was more that taking more from the
He's a gun and ready to go. Will be in that side before the middle of the year, unless we get a great run with injuries/results.
I've seen Tucker twice at training now and I really like what I see but no way on earth is he getting anything more than token games this season.
I reckon Collins is a strong chance to get a few games based on nothing but my gut and own opinion. Just seems ready to plug and play. But there are quite a few young fellas on the list to get excited about. You would think that Weller, Langdon & Blakley will be will ahead in the que for games? This time last year both Blakely & Weller were super impressive on the track but went on to play a few games. Ideally Tucker will get a game or two to show him what AFL is all about, then lock him away to work on his game like Blakley & co have?
I guess the biggest problem is you can't replace players like Pav & Sandi as they are giants of the game. Sandi literally & Pav by deeds. Those kind of guys are future hall of famers.E Shed, do you think we have enough players developing to replace our best 22 footballers nearing,
over thirty, to cover for retirements, etc.
Interesting exercise in seeing who will replace who, we seem to be judged by others that we are an
old team, and are on the way down.
He looks to be still finding his feet to me. Just getting used to being in the main group & learning the drills. Hasn't stood out for me but early days.E shed thanks for the report
How is my man Yarran looking ?
