GOOD. DO IT. That's your heritage, it doesn't interfere with Collingwood at all, (just add a teal collar or something **** it) we were made to be the team for all of SA, lets wear some kind of V, you guys wear the prison bars.
Erh mah gerd...Am I agreeing with a Crows supporter :p If it was just us making the decision sure haha.

stuff you, we got the jumper, you keep the throwaway line :D

I like the fruit tingles

I still think the Crows should maintain a separate identity from the South Australian team.. you know, aside from being called Adelaide, the Crows and wearing blue, red and yellow ;) The current jumper looks good, so long as the hoops extend all the way around and aren't interrupted by ridiculous side panels.

As for the Prison Bar, while I don't think Collingwood should have any objections to it (Port can wear what they want at home, and if the Pies hadn't changed their jumper at the end of 2000, there wouldn't be much resemblance anyway), I like the idea of retaining the BiB with a couple of prison bar elements - the number panel and white cuffs/collar.

It'd be interesting to hear what the Power fans that don't support the Magpies in the SANFL think of the Power wearing the prison bars.

Oh, they're out there.
As one of them (yes my profile says Adelaide, I know), I was both for it and against it.
For it because it was Port Adelaide FC heritage.
Against it because it was handed over to Port Adelaide Magpies FC when they were formed to fill the Port spot in the SANFL.
For it because it pissed Collingwood off something chronic :p

Now that PAMFC no longer exist, and the PAFC has taken it back as the jumper of their reserves team, in the context of the AFL competition, it should be used only as a heritage jumper in the AFL. Collingwood is the black&white team of that competition, they were in the VFL/AFL competition before PAFC. When GC joined having them in Southport colours wasn't an option for the same reason IMO. Collingwood has no right to curtail the heritage of Port, but Port has no right to claim the rightful colours of another club as their own either. They can claim it as their heritage, but not as their own.

Please tell me this means that Gold Coast are getting a footy guernsey for their home jumper, instead of a training top
Design would most likely stay the same as they wouldn't want to change their image too much yet.

See, to me their current image feels way too manufactured. It feels like a franchise, not a club (which I guess is true anyway).

I think if they're going to get anywhere off field, and make any impression on the Gold Coast, they're going to need to find their own identity, not just use one that was handed to them.

They've got a new coach next season, and they'll probably be making finals for the first time. I can't think of a better time to start a massive marketing drive of "we start now" or something along those lines, bring in a traditional guernsey, and start acting like a club.

I see their jumper as pretty traditional. Plain block colour with monogram is traditional (Carlton, South Adelaide), then a little twist with side-panels and the full logo (which is pretty much all the colour of the jumper anyway).
It's not too busy, it's not got cartoon like characters, it's not got gradients (except in the logo).

What gives everyone here the impression that their jumper isn't an on field one? what even defines an on field jumper, to me, i think it is fine and original. you all have talked about their image and how they are acting like a franchise, but to me, lines across the jumper, chevrons, and lines down the jumper (geelong, freo, hawks for example) is much more of a franchise idea for a jumper than the logo

If it was just the letters from the logo on the guernsey, it'd look a lot better. But being the whole logo, to me it looks like they just threw it on.
I'll mock up some ideas and put them in the ideas thread later today.

I would love to see some non-standard shorts designs start appearing in the AFL. Templated pinstripes are boring.

I would doodle some ideas up, but dammit it's a public holiday. That'd be too much like work.
I miss the thick stripes of the mid-2000s. It reminds me of when Port were with Nike with the thick collar and cuffs. That was a great partnership, Port and Nike just worked.

So you consider the Carlton jumper plain, as well?
How did I know someone would say that?! Haha.
Yes, but somehow it's fine. Perhaps because it's a darker colour. The first Carlton clash would have looked plain without navy side-panels. With the red jumper I think it needs some augmentation to break up the masses of red.

I dislike the GC logo but the guernsey design is fine.

I'm surprised they went with something so basic but good on them. Red and yellow is a great colour combo, especially for the Gold Coast. They just need to fix the logo, or lose it.

I also wouldn't mind seeing checkerboard red and yellow sidepanels to tie in with the lifesaver theme.

It worked on an Aston Villa shirt a few years back.
