2015 draftees vs 2016 draftees

There wasn't a lot of key forwards this year. Which is why Melbourne traded into the the first round again last year so they could get Oliver and Weideman. Weideman probably would have been top 5 in this years pool.
On AA key forwards I remember Lucas Cook was AA in his year but never played a game. I was saying at the time we should have gone Darling.

Well if his asking price is $1 mill a season for 5 years then he can go to another club. But if asking for half of that then would be glad to accomodate it

It would cost a lot more then that to get one of the top players in the league to play for your team, maybe triple the salary and he might think about it.... Might

Blues won't pay overs for a player that's best might be past him due to injuries and considering we are not pushing for a Premiership right now. We made that mistake with Daisy Thomas but won't make it twice

Fyfe would be your best player easily. You've been paying a complete underachiever in Gibbs 600k a year but you wouldn't want to give Fyfe more then that? well you can stick to your GWS rejects because with an additude like that your team won't be trading in any stars any time soon.

Gibbs few seasons ago won Blues b&f
My opinion is Fyfes injury will hold him back but again I could be wrong. I don't think Blues should offer overs for players at any club when we are not a finals team right now

I think a team like Melbourne or Stk is more likely to make a play for Fyfe. Adelaide should would be handy replacement for Dangerfield

i would have kennedy over venables. Kennedy looks like a star while venables could be but his footy so far has been inconsistent and injury affected.
 
Not sure how his brother went this year but Ben McKay's development in the VFL was ridiculously good considering he was a 18 year old 200cm key forward. Was v close to getting a game at senior level and I expect him to play a few games this year.

Pretty sure Brett Anderson said that if the Mckay brothers were in this draft then they would have both gone top 10. Could be a function of there being no standout key forwards in this years draft though.

Calling 2 draws. I think Weitering & McGrath will be par in their respective positions
And i dont think either of Rioli or Gallucci were 1st rd picks, but they filled needs/wants of the clubs that took them

Of the remaining 21, i give 11 to 2016 and 10 to 2015.

possibly. Ben was a late bloomer and rode his brothers coattails a bit.
But i dont think either make top 10 this year ahead of McGrath, Taranto, McCluggage, Ainsworth, Setterfield, SPS, Bowes, Scrimshaw, Logue, Brodie, Simpkin & Florent.

I think it would have been a case of Marshall v H.McKay @ Port's pick.
Marshall was there for the teams with top 12 picks to take him.
Essendon wouldnt grab either at 1.
GWS dont need a tall forward
GCS are the same
Brisbane wouldnt have passed up McCluggage
Carlton are starved for quality forwards and still took a small mid
Sydney and North both could do with adding to their KP depth and didn't.

I would place Ben, in his current form, in the 2nd round of a deep draft.

Last year recruited Harry McKay Jack Silvagni & Charlie Curnow
This year with a late pick recruited Patrick Kerr
That's our forward line for next 10 years with still Ben and Tom Silvagni to be drafted
Our priority was Midfielders this draft

Lol You can't say that's your forward line for the next 10 years , Mckay has a shitload to learn still and he's nowhere near a sure thing. Kerr almost went undrafted and Silvagni is a tweener forward . It's not a bad start to a forward line but it's not a sure thing. Matthew Wright lead your goal kicking last year .....
