You do realise in the 3 years James Hird has coached Essendon they have qualified for the finals twice don't you?
You do realise that both of those years you had Bomber? Not to mention you still haven't won a final for almost 10 years and you have supporters on here sprouting you are a chance for the top 4

To be fair I can't see Essendon finishing in the top 10.

why not? any reasons other than you don't like them or there coach?

* The forward line is too dependant on Daniher and he is 2-3 years away from being a real dominate forward. Also you small forwards don't inspire me.
* The loss of Ryder is going to really hurt and I cant see anyone stepping up in his place as I don't think Giles is that great and Bellchambers is average at best and that is when he actually plays.
* Your recruiting has been awful this off season IMO (Cooney is cooked, Giles is an average player and Gwilt just got delisted by St Kilda). I fail to see how these players are really going to improve your team especially when they are off set by the loss of Ryder
* The loss of Bomber Thompson to your coaching staff will hurt, he is still arguably the best in the business. Plus you now have Mark Neeld (possibly the worst coach of all time and is terrible at developing talent) as your development coach.
* The midfield is too dependant on Watson (injury prone) and Heppell, who granted are both a grade players, but other than them I don't like the midfield much

To top it off, you finished 7th last year and I cannot see you overtaking any of the teams above you on the ladder, however I can see teams over taking you (Richmond, Gold Coast, Brisbane and possibly West Coast & Adelaide)

* The improvement Daniher made in the second half of this season was outstanding and we will be seeing more matches like his first final appearance where he kicked 4 goals next season. Carlisle has shown that he can absolutely monster backmen and after having just completed his first season as a forward will also improve even further next season.

* Bellchambers is reportedly over his injuries and will resume then number 1 ruck role he previously held over Ryder

* Cooney will be a good player, will spend more time forward and wont be getting tagged at like he was at the Bulldogs, not sure you can say he is cooked either as has only missed 2 or 3 games a season for the last couple. Gwilt and Giles have been brought in as back up

* Thompson did no better than Hird last year so I don't see it as a massive loss and he certainly isn't the best in the business.

* Absolutely nothing wrong with our midfield, outside the two A grade stars you mentioned you can throw in Goddard, Zaharakis and Myers for experience and young up and coming stars in Zac Merrett and Marty Gleeson. Cooney and Chapman will also run through there at times.

We finished 7th yes, we were beaten in the Elimination final in the last few minutes by a team that then went on and made a preliminary final, had we had Jake Carlisle and Dustin Fletcher in that match then some would argue the result may have been different. We beat all those teams you mentioned that you think will overtake us and 3 of them in the last few weeks of the season. I cant see any genuine reason why we would be falling off the pace in the space of 6 months.

After reading your comments, I almost managed to sneak them into my bottom 4.

Thanks

still a dud.

Get serious mate. Cooney is past it. He will be lucky to play 15 games next year. Average player at best.
* Thompson did no better than Hird last year so I don't see it as a massive loss and he certainly isn't the best in the business.
Thompson put up with all the ASADA shit while Hirdy had a vacation. Thompson handled it better than most would.

Not deep enough.

Essendon will be overtaken by the Tigers, Brisbane and Gold Coast in 2015.
Thats just my opinion.

So Hird didn't handle it in 2013? An injury free Bellchambers is not a dud, I can assure you that. Richmond, Brisbane and Gold Coast will not overtake Essendon, that's just my opinion.

Got the Kangas 4th and Essendon 14th, yeah that makes sense considering there was very little between them 3 months ago. Let me guess its the loss of Ryder and the inclusion of Cooney and Giles? Never mind the loss of Greenwood and the inclusion of Waite and Higgins though.

As i said already.....

ASADA

Other than that, i'd have you somewhere just outside the top 8. You're not that good.

Carlisle has shown that he can absolutely monster backmen and after having just completed his first season as a forward will also improve even further next season. Moving Carisle forward weakens your backline, plus he had more shit games than good ones up forward

* Thompson did no better than Hird last year so I don't see it as a massive loss and he certainly isn't the best in the business. We will see how good Hird is without Bomber pulling the strings behind the doors

The teams I mentioned have either recruited much better than Essendon or have more natural improvement in them IMO[/QUOTE]

They did finish there last year, your mob on the other hand hasn't won a final in about 10 years

We also finished 7th last year and got beaten by NM in the final few minutes of a final, can't see how they will be 4th and Essendon 14th

Nothing wrong with our backline whatsoever, let me guess it was Bomber pulling all the strings behind the scenes but you will lay all the blame on Hird when it comes to the supplement saga? heard it all before, switching and changing things to suit your argument and hatred of James Hird, boring.

Doesn't matter if you lost by 100 points or 1. They have proven they can win finals, Essendon have not

You're a bit harsh on your own team there? Bulldogs will finish above the bottom 4 for sure.
I think we've got a really bright future, but it's going to take at least half a season to bounce back from loss of coach, captain/best player and a bunch of experience. I'm hoping for a late season upswing, but I feel a couple of teams will leapfrog us next year due to a very slow start. We'll be back in 2016 though!

Yeah the loss of your captain is the big one, when you guys came over here to play us you were neck and neck with us until Griffin (your BOG at the time) went off with and back spasms and after that it became one way traffic.
