I'm also not keen on Goddard. Ageing (32?), past his prime, few soft tissue injuries last year, Essendon will struggle, probably won't see as much midfield time, not much upside if you ask me. Goddard for 548k or Wines/Griffen/Watson - no brainer!
FWIW He is 29 and Hird loves playing him in the guts, not as a 50% forward 50% on ball like Bomber. He relished playing as a pure on baller last year, and his bad scoring came when he played forward. Also, It is silly to compare a forward the same price as a mid. Because, will Wines/Griffen/Watson be top 8 mids come years end? There is a very big chance none of them will be, while Goddard being top 6 forwards is almost 100%. Like saying would you rather Newnes or Jack Steven.

Yeah, he's a lock for the forward line, even moreso if he spends even more time in the midfield.

It is always the goal to have the top 6, 8, 2 and 6 performing players on each line. Having said that, none of the top 10 SC players of 2014 had all of the top 8 midfield players at the end of the season. There is a line that needs to be drawn for value/points.

Goddard was the first forward I picked after I learned he'd be a forward. True no-brainer, because even in his down years he'll easily be top 5 in the forward line.

Feeling almost compelled to pick Dusty now, but it would mean sacrificing one of lids/goddard so not sure what to do. Worked on his tank this pre-season, has been head and shoulders above in match simulations so far and then Hardwick came out yesterday and said he will see a lot more mid time this year and rest forward. Could be the year he becomes elite

I've got the same dilemma. I swapped him in for Lid's in the hope that I can get him back in R12. (I got too many players missing that week to carry both)

I don't see any reason not to pick Deledio and Martin. Have them, Buddy and Goddard as my premiums atm.

The reason I compared Goddard to Wines/Griffen/Watson was because the original poster that mentioned Goddard said he was thinking of going a rookie FWD instead of Goddard so he could get another MID. Therefore it becomes an X v Y, Goddard v. Wines/Griff/Watson

Any thoughts on a breakout year from K Turner, Nth Melb?

Looked like a player last year at the end of the year, and was only a stick figure.
Surely another pre - season would do this kid wonders.
A huge risk at his price, but averaged 80 in his first 3 games.
Could possibly go 15-20pts more a week? Any Nth supporters got any thoughts?

So are your backline and your rucks just all mid pricers and rookies?

They're all great options obviously. But how can you afford them all?

That's alot of coin for forwards when there is a fair bit of value there this year.

I don't think it's cost my other areas too much.. Pretty keen on the four big guns up top.

Just curious what's your reason for not starting with Fyfe?
I prefer Ablett, Pendles and Selwood as my super premiums. Fyfe's shoulder worries me, and I don't want to have four of my premiums with the round 12 bye (Ablett, Pendles, Watson, Fyfe).

If he was round 11 bye he'd probably be in.

Who would you pick between Deledio and Martin if you had too?

Like most, I dont want all 4 like you have, i'm trying to look for some value in the forward line with Swan, Wingard Titch etc. So having both Deledio and Martin is a struggle.

Had Deledio most of the preseason, but starting to doubt it now.

Peoples thoughts on Dale Thomas. i think he might be worth it this year if he has a strong NAB cup. I guess we ill have to wait for NAB cup for majority of players. Curse this game and its hold on people
Think he's past it SC wise, bit of a nothing pick at a nothing price, can't see him appreciating to keeper status so I'm not sure what the point is.

I think Tom Mitchell at the same price is a better pick, huge upside if he's in the best 22 which I'd say he probably is, what's everyones thoughts on Tom?

Thomas went huge once, 5 years ago, within a 3 year purple patch, but hard to see him top the ton again when he has only ever done it once, and hasn't come close in the last 2.

People will claim injuries, but I personally just think his best is behind him.

Probably 1-2 years early.

He was the youngest player in the league, qualified for the draft by 12 hours.

Will be a beast in his early 20s with his attack on the footy.

Nah, expect rookie levels of output from him. If he'd got through to this year's draft as an overager, where would he go? mid-late second round? Assuming he plays enough seniors his role will still be permanent small forward with little to no midfield time. As Pykie says, a different story in a year or two. He's already great to watch and he's going to get better.

But yeah, $300K is a criminal price rise for 3 games off the rookie list. Hate how they're pricing guys with 3 or fewer games the previous year.
