i'm starting to question not starting Budwa in my team. at the moment i've gone 3/0/5 (Swan is one of the 3). just read the article where Lloyd reckons buddy will kick 100 - don't care about that though - it's the reports that he's having the best preseason ever so far. didn;t watch the latest swans NAB but obviously he wasn't too crash hot in that - it is NAB though

he was in my team for awhile but took him out due to an article re his knee (plus fwd rookies) - see here: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...hn-longmire-says/story-fni5fan7-1227235922933

“We still have to manage (the right knee). He had got a bit of tendinitis in his knee and we have to manage him, but he has certainly been able to do a lot more training.”

what are people thinking with the ol' Budwa. Will certainly be top 10 fwds but will he take a dip? basically i'm tossing up cutting my Mids to 4 and going 4 premos fwd or leaving him out and keeping 5 in the mids...
Having the exact same dilemma mate
Running a 3-0-5, with Gray, Dusty and Swan
I'm tossing up dropping Dusty..
I know his pre season has been great and his tank is better, but I also believe that if your tossing up between two players, pick the one who is going hurt you the most by not selecting him, and Buddy rips out a lot more monster scores than Dusty
As I said, I have Martin now because of his consistency, but I believe Buddy will be top 5
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that he has a dip and I can pick him up a bit cheaper

I'm keeping him, but will be tracking his progress closely up until the season starts.

I dont think running with 4 mid premos is a great idea, 7 mid rookies could end ugly.

Plus there are plenty of quality fwd rookies as well.

Keep your structure.

Buddy is one of the few players who hasn't left my team at all. Gun, will be top two forward on average, 115+. He is the focal point in what I think is the best team in the comp.

Want people's thoughts on;

Ben Reid ($217k)

Mitch Clark ($155k)

Jesse Hogan $130k)

Reid - Super risky pick. Injury cursed but has the potential to average 80+ easily because of his intercept marks and good kicking IF fit and playing. And that is a MASSIVE IF :)

The other 2 will be in most people's teams.
Clark a bit more likely to score well than Hogan. They both should do their job of earning cash!

Agreed on the risk. If he were a defender he would be a lock?

He's awkward
crap side and a fwd
think 60s av
I'd take that in a heartbeat over a Lonie/Lamb/Daniel/Karnezis who could not even play, and if they do sub candidate

He has had a full preseason, it is more a matter of getting him right for Round 1 ie not overdoing the NAB workload. The only I reason I would not pick Buddy is if Tippett is doesn't come up for Round 1 which is a possibility - he is 50-50 at this point.

Call me nuts but I am seriously considering my old burnman Roughead, I think he will break Buddy Franklin's one game goal kicking record in Round 2, one week after Buddy has broken Fred Fannings goal kicking record for one game. Other than Port, Swans, Cats and North - Hawthorns first ten rounds look pretty juicy, they could be 9-1, or 7-3 at worst. Risky but he could go huuuuge.
