Maybe you should barrack for Collingwood. Maybe you should get behind Hartung, Anderson, Howe, Langford, O'Rourke & Sicily instead of drooling about hacks like Adams. I heard the same thing about Brisbane's midfield this year. There so called potential A grade midfield won't have nothing to feed, their forward line is shit!

Why? so are we that narrow minded that we can't admire talent on another teams list, and if we do we should go support that club.
Here's a tip, talent does exist at clubs other than Hawthorn...hard to believe I know.
Hine is building a damn good midfield, not sure why you're comparing Brisbane to Collingwood, they are chalk and cheese in terms of talent identification and development.

Getting a bit worried about Jed didn't see him In any celebrations on Saturday ?? And is about the only player that has not been in a photo over the last few days
From the movies I've seen, Jedis seem to work in trilogies, and we've just done the 3 peat. Not a good sign.

Looks like no big surprise xmas present in this year's trade period either. Those back ended contracts have finally caught up with us...

Saw suckling, smith, Spangler, Breust, rough all together hanging out looking hung over and tired. Then saw Jed, walked past the players who didn't really acknowledge him, left on his own, spoke to him and he looked fresh. Didn't seem to have been partying much, also seemed distant from the other blokes. Let the conversation continue, cue the x files theme.

Where was this?

From what I've read we pushed really hard for future draft picks to be tradable. Can't see why would do that without having something up the sleeve ready to go.

There is always the possibility that we pushed so hard in order to trade future draft picks in from other clubs. In essence- collecting what we can as ammunition for other plays for other players available next year. Which- would mean not having to trade our own future picks out. Or having an abundance of high picks to go for multiple players etc.

+1 surprised with Hardisty. He's the only rookie that we picked up fresh last year that made the jump to senior VFL.

Understand L.Langford probably has extra points given he's coming from further back plus the name factor - and both his father and brother were relatively late bloomers.

JML also struggled to get a consistent run going but clearly has a massive upside.

I'm guessing Hardisty either was judged to be close to his ceiling or we have our eye on a particular rookie selection (given Woodward will hopefully take one spot and Grimley leaving frees another).

Hodge's brother still about??
Dylan was serving beers at the Barking Dog in Geelong West last time I saw him.

I would love to do a trade but he's an unrestricted FA. We'll probably end up with a compensation pick similar to what we got for Young (pick in the 60s).
Does the compensation pick, if were we to lose Suckers, depend on what size contract he is being offered or what we paid? If the doggies were to offer him overs we might get 2nd round.
Brett said carlton were getting hawthorn's name involved to help their bargaining with richmond
Yarran to Richmond, Simpkin and pick 18 to Carlton, Hawthorn get Richmond's pick 11.

I'm just making shite up to fit in with all the rest. Hawthorn have already said they are not chasing any players (The Age Oct 7) and will just aim to improve their position in the draft or maybe even next year's draft with future picks.

I hope the club goes after Nathan Hrovat. With Tom Liberatore, Mitch Honeychurch and Clay Smith all coming back from injury for the Dogs next season he's falling even further behind in the pecking order.

As it currently stands we have two live picks in this years National draft. Kurt Heatherley will be upgraded to the senior list with the last pick. Players like Whitecross, Suckling and Simpkin could all be traded next week.

Pick 18:
Pick 37:
Pick 55: Kurt Heatherley (upgraded to the senior list)

If you think about it this way...
Pick 18:
Pick 37:
Pick 55:
Pick 73: Kurt Heatherley (upgraded to the senior list)

Then we could trade Picks 37, 55, Simpkin and Whitecross for say pick 31 and we'd have

Pick 18:
Pick 31:
Pick 73: Kurt Heatherley (upgraded to the senior list)

No, Kiwi was full normal rookie this season
Easy way to understand the list sizes:

If Senior List has 38 players, Cat A Rookie List has to have 6 players. (example Sydney in 2015)
If Senior List has 39 players, Cat A Rookie List has to have 5 players. (example Collingwood in 2015)
If Senior List has 40 players, Cat A Rookie List has to have 4 players. (example Hawthorn in 2015)

Cat B Rookie List can have up to 3 players at any time.

so far im glad at the work the hawks have done with the squad

Woodward - delisted, with a clause to be rookied,

with most likely Simpkin + Webster - delisted, i like the work that the HFC is doing to keep the squad strong for the future

There's no clause with Woodie, just an agreement that they'll take him, like they did last year with Grimley.

Webster is the one I'm surprised is still there and survived the latest cull.

It's a bit disappointing though that Collingwood can tap up all these talented youngsters and get them to play for them via trading but Hawthorn get Frawley through free agency and suddenly we're ripping the very fabric of equalisation apart.

Heatherly upgraded means only two live picks needed in ND, does rookieing Woodward count as a live pick?

Upgrading Heatherly counts as a live pick, though they don't list them anymore, so we could go to the draft with the list as it stands now. Would expect it to change after trade week though.
