Long time lurker here...
Managed to get a day off today and went down to training for the first time ever. I will share my observations since there is not much else up yet but will defer to the regulars as I am not familiar with our training like they are.
It was a perfect morning and we seemed to have a massive squad out there. As mentioned sos, Macca and pav were late out and went through a fitness test away from the main group. They all seemed to pass as they joined in with training after the test. No strapping on maccas calf either. From what I saw after that I would say that both Macca and pav will play and sos will make way for Johnson.
Fyfe looked in good nick and so did Johnson.
The boys looked sharp to me and I think we will go in with our best 22 minus ballaz going all out to win. Watch out Eagles!
Neale stayed out late working on his roving with kirk and a Pearce stayed out to practise goal kicking, great signs that the young boys have a hunger to improve. Dawson only appeared after training to do some running, looks out of favour to me with good reason and I doubt we will see him again this season barring injuries.
Feel free to ask questions and I will try to answer.

Great stuff! What makes you think SOS is out - his fitness test, or the match sims?

Cheers mate. Been hanging out all day for that :)

A beautiful morning in Freo. Had my 2yr old daughter in tow so I moved around a bit and saw some interesting things. Eventually Peppa pig on my phone kept her happy enough so I could watch the training session.

As I said earlier, I turned up when most of the boys were doing 2 v 2 kick to kicks, Alex Pearce took a lovely mark at full stretch opposed to Tanner Smith before sending a bullet back to Blakely.

Looking around Mundy was moving smoothly and didn't seem hindered in anyway. As said by others SCOS and Macca were off to the side doing some running and kicking. Macca looked fine to my eyes, no visable limp or anything or the sort. Didn't actually see if he joined in the main practice drills though. Pav looked the goods and was involved in the team drills along with everyone else.

As the training drills were spilt into so many different groups I didn't get to see if everyone was there. I didn't see Johnson but he might just have been in the group on the other side of the oval.

Looked fairly closely at my buddy Ballard, we'd be mad not to sign him onto the main list next year. Slightly taller than Fyfe and built like a tank. His kicking was superb and he marked everything that came his way in the 2 v 2 kicking drills. I know the pressure isn't the same as a game but he looked great. Later on in the stoppage drills Ballard and Fyfe worked well together getting the ball to the outside for shots on goal.

A handball drill had the team spilt into a few groups, nothing major just working on skills in close and trying to get the ball to the outside. Clancee was quite involved and Mayne loves calling out issuing instructions to his teammates.

Another drill had a group of the younger boys doing 1v1's. The trainer would kick a loopy pass to them and the objective was to get the ball back to the trainer. Grey and Duffy had the best duels, both giving 100%. Grey would just dive on the football while Duffy would position himself to strip the ball when Grey got to his feet. They won a few each so no clear winner.

The Tabs v Hannath battle was all Tabs. Tabs had a few nifty sidesteps and spins to break free. The loopy passes the trainers were doing were extremely hard to mark which I assume was the point to make it a ground contest.

Moving further around to my final resting place (This is when Peppa Pig came on) I was in a prime viewing spot of some ruck drills. Now I have to say God help whoever goes against Sandi this weekend. They were doing this drill that wasn't so much about winning the tap but more about how hard Sandi could slam his knee into his oppenent who was luckily carrying padding. Poor Lycett or Sinclair are going to get mauled. After 5 mins of battering ram practice they went to practicing some set plays off a directed tap. Sandi was great as expected, Zac had light strapping on both knees but still did well with the drill. Watching Griffin I can just see the confidence in him growing, good leap and good direction with the tap. He looks in ripping nic as well.

The best leap by far though goes to Moller, I haven't been to training since preseason and boy has Moller come along. Great direction and precision on his taps. Still too light framed in my mind and would probably be monstered against the bigger ruckman in the league but he looks to be moving with a bit of purpose now and doesn't have that poor body language about him that made him look disinterested and lazy.

Alex Pearce was practicing some goal kicking on his own. I saw him use perhaps 3 or 4 different techniques, changing how he dropped the drop, his run up and how he followed through with his kicking leg. He kicked most but missed some fairly easy ones too. I imagine when he settles on one kicking action he will start kicking more than he misses.

Watching Fyfe and Clancee do some marking practice with Kirky who looks like he could still play this weekend if asked, the boys seem to respect him and they both listened to and apply his instructions. Fyfe only dropped one that I saw and Clancee marked most.

Zac Clarke went aside with Hannath at one point to practice goal kicking. Both kicking from about 40m out on varying angles. Zac managed to kick most but still fluffed a few that weren't all that difficult. Hannath missed more than he kicked :-(

In some more stopage drills at first I thought they were practicing the "Get it to Fyfe" drill as he always seemed to end up with it but Blakely, Ballard and Subes got some of the ball too. Fyfe's looking primed to go, didn't miss a beat.

Finally they had a full match simulation for 10mins or so. The whistle was going off fairly regularly as the coaches pull them up for various things. I'm not sure but it seemed that the coaches gave a free against Subes who launched the ball inside 50 to a contest when he could have kicked it to Croz who was in the open. D Pearce had a few nice kicks. Nothing remarkable overall with the sim, the boys all seemed full of spirit and called out loudly to each other.

Good session all up. Mundy and Pav looked good to play, Macca will probably depend how he pulls up, didn't see Johnson so I can't say.

Zac Dawson and Crowls were the last out on the oval running extra laps.

Have you seen all the garbage that's been trotted out this year in here?!

So much angst and negativity about the club, MC and RTB until the last fortnight, I can totally understand why you would want to just lurk and not get caught up in it all!

However, negativity is negativity, no matter how one spins it.

You will be fine mate. Most of those on the forum are great to deal with and the others have their moments. We all love the club in our own way.
