Another finals campaign wreckef by injuries
Hardly. I'm sure with Pav rest as well as McPharlin being managed, it's good timing. Dawson has been injured all season so him back in helps massively. Fyfe is probably more of a precaution, if he's not 100% then the forward line awaits. MJ is back, and Ballas is a week or two away. There's the silver lining

Nah, need to win the last two. Should easily account for Melbourne, and he will want a win as a good lead up to the finals against Port. Also suspect Port will start sending players for end of season operations before the final round.

Already put Wines and Jacko Trengove away.

I'm aware of that but in no way do I want us to be going into the last round where we are relying on picking up 4 points, who know what Port will turn up to play over there. Get it this week and beat Melbourne then Freo can do whatever they like in the last round. make no mistake the game this Sunday is quite important for our September chances.

aGREE - The one chance we have to win minor premiership lets not screw it up.

Made it down to training today with the old man, haven't got a great deal to add to what is up on the website and the article FreoRicci linked.

Couple observations though, Fyfe did have his left ankle strapped and did spend some time kicking to himself, during some of the match sims, then running along the boundary with Alex Pearce who had his shoulder strapped but didn't appear to have any other ailments. Both left the track briefly, but returned shortly thereafter. Wouldn't be too concerned there though, just looking after them at this stage I'd say. Fyfe took an absolute screamer towards the end of the match sim stuff so ankle or otherwise he should go ok from what I saw. Blakely looked cherry ripe, McPharlin seemed fine, Sandi and Griff a lot of work in the ruck one on one, Zarke trained with the main squad but I'm not sure he'll play. Looks like we are going to go in with a smaller forward set up in Pav's absence. Half expected to see Zarke up forward in the match sims but he seemed really lacklustre, led to the ruck taps by Sandi a lot in the sims.

From the Peel contingent, Ballard and Tanner trained well. Ballard in particular looks in great nick, would love to see him upgraded to the main list next year.

Was a pretty light session overall, one real standout passage of play late in the match sims gave a glimpse of how good our ball movement can be when it comes off. A ruck tap down to a moving mid (far side so couldn't quite make out who) through the stoppage which created a chain of handballs that saw the ball quickly move from the half back flank to hit up a leading A.Pearce who then wheeled around and played on to an open Griff streaming into goal who took the ball in the goal square, very slick indeed.

Last two off the track were Crowls and SOS, plenty of running for those two, some round the boundary jobs as well as some light short "sprints" together in the middle of the ground. Crowls looks in super nick, really wouldn't be too surprised to see him get a game this year to be honest.

Almost forgot, one observation on RTB. During the match sims a couple of the Peel boys were handballing in a triangle set up in close quarters back and forth near the "dugouts" South Freo members side on the boundary. Ross has spotted one of them handballing with an open palm (may have been Hurley) and given them a spray, motioning to use the fist and not be lazy. Was gold. Doesn't miss much old Ross. ;)

I think we will get better value from a bulk rest against Port having already secured top spot.

In fact, even if we end up 4th I think we would get better value from a bulk rest against Port.
I'm not sure a bulk rest would really be possible anyway since the reaction to our B-side in 2013. Any more than 3 or 4 players rested would cause a shitstorm.

The wording of the law they put in place from that would let us rest all players with soreness, which they will all have.

I'm confident we would be fine.

As reported short sharp session .Spurr was on light duties .Fyfe and A Pearce late on the track but both were in the gym first up then both worked well in the sims.Blakely,Langdon and Zac D all worked well.Rumour is that Luke is not a certainty and Sonny has a slight hammy.Only rumours but when there is smoke etc, etc.

Sonny and Luke train?

Spurr has a quad he is dealing with based on the Derby. If we win this week he could be one of the ones rested for Melbourne so could see grey get a debut or Duffield or Clancee get another crack. Not seeing an obvious replacement for him in the squad already named for this week though.

Only Langdon. That's the future for him I reckon (BP or HBF) but he's still raw.
